2017 Buddy Reads - Introduction & Sign Up
Hi, Janine! I have added you to Winter and The Last Star buddy reads!
Thanks for the heads up on The Lost Metal. I added it before a date was set for publication knowing that it was overly optimistic! :) I am greatly enjoying that series and was hoping to finish it this year!
I will change it when I go through my monthly edits towards the end of July!
HI guys can I join this series reading? I just recently started reading again since I've been busy with my kids and full time job. So this year I decided to read at least 6 books and I just finished my 5th tonight. But I have been reading one series that I couldn't seem to get into its the dance of dragon by George Martin, I just cFelt like I needed a change of phase. So I ended up reading Wonder by R.J. PalAcio and the 5th book was "Julian's" POv. I highly recommend this series to mothers who have kids in school. My 10'yr old liked it that he even surprised me when I asked him he's fave character. HE said it was the main character Auggie. When I asked why he said he felt like he can relate to him since they Are similar in some wAy due to his having Eczema. 😭This made me realize that sharing a book with your kid can actually help you get to know them more.
So I think joining this group should encourage me to read my DOD book more! Wish me luck! 😜
Greetings, All! And my apologies for being so quiet for the last week or so. I have had a few unexpected commitments!I will catch up in the next couple of days - checking in on July reads and setting up August reads! I cannot believe we are this close to August!
More shortly....
Mary Pat, you have The Winds of Winter (A Song of Ice and Fire #6) on the list for December. But sadly, George R R Martin has recently written on his website that it won't be published this year.

Ever the optimist, I always put all of the books in a series on the buddy read list and only remove them when I have concrete info. Actually, I think of it more as postponing! :) I did the same thing with The Lost Metal in the Mistborn series.
I will update the list shortly!
Joan, Sheila - As I was reviewing my list for August buddy reads, I realized I never created a thread for Salt to the Sea in July! Please accept my humble apologies!Would you like me to set it up as a read in August?
Jennah, you can read at whatever pace you wish 😊 Also you don't have to read the whole series if you don't enjoy it or don't have time, etc. For instance, I'm ahead on the Lunar Chronicles because I read three of the books this month. I'll still join in on the discussions and share my thoughts though 😊

If Sheila is still interested I'm up for it. It looks like a quick read. I was actually supposed to read it for another group last month and I didn't get to it for that either. I forgot myself Mary Pat that I signed up as a buddy read - no harm, no foul!
The second and third place books for the August 2017 group read were Everything, Everything and Persuasion respectively. Persuasion was a July Buddy Read but is anyone interested in reading Everything, Everything as a Buddy Read? As long as two or more people are interested, I will create a thread.
June 2017 Buddy Reads have been archived to here! They are closed to new comments but feel free to re-visit them!

It still works for me. Will we also be reading The Giver in August?
Is there a buddy read for Girls in Pants: The Third Summer of the Sisterhood in August? We read the 1st book as the Group Read in June, the 2nd book as a Buddy Read this month...but I can't remember if we had set it up as a series read, one book a month...?

Great! I will add Salt to the Sea to the August Buddy Reads folder! And yes, The Giver is set up as an August Buddy Read. It is a fairly short book though and I found it to be a quick read.

Hi, Eirelyn! No one has asked for Girls in Pants as a Buddy Read but now that you have posted, there might be some interest. I will keep an eye on the thread and create one if any one else wants to read it with you!

Mary Pat-- I'd like to join the August Under the Dome buddy read. I know I'm late but I just downloaded a copy from the library and it's so huge that the buddy read would really help me get going.

I am just starting to get more active. My work had a lot going on for the past year. Is it possible for me to join in on the buddy read for Little Women?
Would anyone be interested in reading American Psycho in September? Also, Mary Pat, I noticed The Nightingale hadn't been added to the list for September :)
Candy wrote: "I am just starting to get more active. My work had a lot going on for the past year. Is it possible for me to join in on the buddy read for Little Women?"Sure, you can :) Feel free to join any buddy read you like.
I think I saw Dracula was planned as a buddy read in October. Please may I be added to this? Thank you

Sorry for the delay in my response! I am afraid August has been a bit of a crazy month for me! I have officially added you to the list of participants! Having said that, always feel free to join a Buddy Read even if your name hasn't been added to the list yet!

Would anyone be interested in reading To Kill a Mockingbird in September?I wasn't able to participate in the buddy read of it a couple months ago. But I am going to a play of it in late September and want to read it beforehand. :D

Welcome back Mary Pat! Catherine and I (and maybe Scott) are planning to read The Wind Through the Keyhole (Dark Tower 4.5) in September. Could you create a buddy read for us please?
Great, Isavella! :DAlso, my hold just came through for Dark Matter by Blake Crouch. Would anyone be up for reading this with me in September?

October Buddy Reads are posted here!I have to admit, I cannot believe it is October already! The last two months have gone by so fast and it seems like all of us have been extremely busy! Hopefully, we can all settle into a cozy chair for a little more reading this fall!
The second and third place books for the October 2017 group read were Dracula and Uprooted respectively. Dracula is already a Buddy Read for October. Are there two or more people who would like to read Uprooted as a Buddy Read? If so, please post here and I will create a thread!

Also, just noticed The Lost Metal (Mistborn #7) is listed as an August read. Sadly it's not out till next year, so I think that's a mistake!
