Winter (winter9) | 4998 comments Thanks :) If I am unable to buy the other ones or I need more space between the books I will tekl and you can remove me. I definitely want to read Scarlet and I have it :)

message 452: by Olivia (new)

Olivia (oliviaem) | 16 comments Will the Subtle Knife (His Dark Materials #2) buddy read move to July?

message 453: by Mary Pat (new)

Mary Pat | 2186 comments Hi, Liv! The Subtle Knife is this month. The thread is set up in the June Buddy Reads folder. The Amber Spyglass will be in July. Do you want me to add you to the list of participants?

message 454: by Olivia (new)

Olivia (oliviaem) | 16 comments Okay, sure. Ty. I'll probably join the discussion around the 15th of July. I should be done with The Golden Compass and The Subtle Knife by then.

message 455: by Cassandra (new)

Cassandra | 5832 comments I'll sign up for Scarlet also!

message 456: by Mary Pat (new)

Mary Pat | 2186 comments Yea, Cassandra! I have added you to the list!

message 457: by Ankita (new)

Ankita Singh (ankysbookbubble) I was thinking of starting the song of ice and fire series in July. Is there a buddy read for it?

P.s. I'm doing this for the first time so I'm a bit clueless :)

message 458: by Ilona (new)

Ilona | 4698 comments Hi Anky, there will be a buddy read for TSOIAF, reading one book per month and starting with The Game of Thrones in July! The topic will be posted by Mary Pat at the end of this month.

You can find a list with all planned buddy reads here. Feel free to join the discussions of this month if you like. :)
Additionally, if you have a book that you would like to discuss, you can suggest it in this thread. If there are other members who would like to join you, a thread will be created. You can also post it here if you want to join a planned buddy read, and you will be added to the list of participants.

I hope that I covered it all, feel free to ask for help if you have any questions!

message 459: by Luffy Sempai (new)

I have added you to the list of participants for the Song of Ice & Fire series! As Ilona said, we will be starting with Game of Thrones in July. The thread will be posted towards the end of June.

Be sure to check out the first post in this thread for more details on Buddy Reads!

message 465: by Eirelyn (new)

Eirelyn (ladyeirelyn) | 1244 comments I've been wanting to re-re-read The Giver (yes, this will be my 3rd time, lol) by Lois Lowry -- would anyone be up for a Buddy Read of this? And possibly the subsequent novels (Gathering Blue, Messenger, & Son)?

I've never read the additional novels before, and I'd like to refresh on The Giver before diving into the others. :)

I'd prefer to start in August or later (my July is pretty jam-packed with books).

message 466: by Kyla (new)

Kyla (kyl_aaaaaaa) | 47 comments Eirelyn wrote: "I've been wanting to re-re-read The Giver (yes, this will be my 3rd time, lol) by Lois Lowry -- would anyone be up for a Buddy Read of this? And possibly the subsequent novels ([book:Ga..."

The ceremonies in the book take place in December so that's a good time to read it (imo) but whatever month works for me. I actually tried getting into Gathering Blue but I didn't care for it.

message 467: by Susy (new)

Susy (susysstories) Kyla wrote: "Eirelyn wrote: "I've been wanting to re-re-read The Giver (yes, this will be my 3rd time, lol) by Lois Lowry -- would anyone be up for a Buddy Read of this? And possibly the subsequent ..."

December would work for me too!

Sounds good!

I'd be willing to hop in on this (but maybe sooner than December?) and definitely for at least the first sequel!

message 470: by Kyla (new)

Kyla (kyl_aaaaaaa) | 47 comments I don't really care what month, I just want to discuss :)

message 471: by Eirelyn (last edited Jun 21, 2017 05:21AM) (new)

Eirelyn (ladyeirelyn) | 1244 comments For The Giver, I was thinking a little sooner than December as well -- maybe Aug or Sep? But if not everyone can do it that soon, we can do it later. :)

message 472: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Eirelyn wrote: "I've been wanting to re-re-read The Giver (yes, this will be my 3rd time, lol) by Lois Lowry -- would anyone be up for a Buddy Read of this? And possibly the subsequent novels ([book:Ga..."

I would be interested in The Giver in August or September. I wouldn't want to put it off too long or I may get too busy with other books

message 473: by Brianna (new)

Brianna (bebecburt) | 375 comments I'm fine with August or September as well.

message 474: by Susy (new)

Susy (susysstories) I will have to pass in that case, already signed up for way too many reads in those months I'm afraid lol

message 475: by Mary Pat (new)

Mary Pat | 2186 comments Eirelyn, Kyla, Ilona, Brianna, Sheila - sounds like August is the month to start with the Giver. I will add it to the list.

Am I correct that you will read this as a series buddy read? Second book in September, third in October, and fourth in December?

(P.S. I read the series last year and enjoyed it very much. I thought each book was unique and yet tied to all the others. I also found them to be an easy read. Might have to jump in on a conversation or two!)

message 476: by Eirelyn (new)

Eirelyn (ladyeirelyn) | 1244 comments Thanks, Mary Pat!

I'd like to read them all, if everyone's up for that. :)

message 477: by Brianna (new)

Brianna (bebecburt) | 375 comments I have the sequel, but not the rest so I may or may not jump in on the last two - depends on if I can get access to them easily.

message 478: by Mindy (new)

Mindy Jones (mindyrecycles) I'm in for the Giver and sequels. Thanks!

message 479: by Mary Pat (new)

Mary Pat | 2186 comments Mindy, you are added to the list for the Giver series!

message 480: by Mary Pat (last edited Jun 24, 2017 11:08AM) (new)

Mary Pat | 2186 comments The second and third place books for the July 2017 group read were The Nightingale and Salt to the Sea respectively.

Is anyone interested in reading either or both of these books as a Buddy Read?

message 481: by Susy (new)

Susy (susysstories) Would love to but not doable without giving up my job lol

message 482: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Mary Pat wrote: "The second and third place books for the July 2017 group read were The Nightingale and Salt to the Sea respectively.

I would be interested in both books, just not at the same time! Lol

message 483: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Grønsund | 6163 comments I would love to read both but definitely not in the same month and unfortunately not until September.

I could join in September or October for The Nightingale too.

message 488: by Kyla (new)

Kyla (kyl_aaaaaaa) | 47 comments Mary Pat, I am already on the list for The Giver in August but I would not like to read the sequels.

message 489: by Susy (new)

September would be an option for me too (for The Nightingale).

message 490: by Lisa (last edited Jun 25, 2017 10:10AM) (new)

Lisa Grønsund | 6163 comments Daph, Sheila, Susy, and Lindsay, want to pencil The Nightingale in for September then? :)

message 491: by Mary Pat (new)

Mary Pat | 2186 comments Lisa, I will put the Nighingale on the list for September for you, Daph, Sheila, Suzy and Lindsay as it looks pretty solid at this point! It can always be changed if necessary.

Susy, did you decide to quit your job so you could read more? :) I'm considering it!

message 492: by Mary Pat (new)

Mary Pat | 2186 comments Sheila, do you want to read Salt to the Sea with Joan in July?

message 493: by Mary Pat (new)

Mary Pat | 2186 comments Kyla wrote: "Mary Pat, I am already on the list for The Giver in August but I would not like to read the sequels."

Thanks for letting me know! I edited my list so you will only be a participant for the first book.

If I wanna read all these wonderful books, I should lol
But then I wouldn't have money to buy books! Or go on trips which is something I also love to do.
