The January buddy read topics should be up soon! They'll be in their own folder called January Buddy Reads, like how we currently have December Buddy Reads.

It's not part of a series but would anyone like to read Carry On by Rainbow Rowell with me? I'm thinking March but I am flexible with dates apart from in January (my copy of Carry On is on my Kindle which unfortunately is broke :( and I have to wait until my birthday in late January before I can access my ebooks)
Greetings, All! My apologies for my absence - some serious family illnesses - but all is well now and I am ready to catch up!It is great to see all of the entries in this topic! I will review and organize tonight and get groups and other stuff set up!
Thanks for your patience!

I would love to read Carry On with you in March. I will add it to my March to read folder so I don't forget. I remember seeing this at the local library and thought it would be good but never got around to picking it up!
OK! I have sorted through all the wonderful posts! Below is the list of definite single buddy reads for 2017 and the participants - so far. I will set up the thread for January's Buddy Read - An Untamed State - tonight. And I will do a separate post for series buddy reads shortly.JANUARY - An Untamed State - Cassandra, Lynn, Lindsay
FEBRUARY - The Light Between Oceans - Cassandra, Lisa
FEBRUARY - A Tale of Two Cities - Amanda, Catherine
MARCH - Scarlet Letter - Zara, Mindy
MARCH - Carry On - Rachael, Robyn, Lisa (Likenbooks)
APRIL – Chocolat - Taylor R, Mindy
Please let me know if you have any questions or changes!
Here are the definite series buddy reads for 2017 and the participants - so far! The first book in each of these series will have its own thread set up for January tonight. (The second book will be set for February, the third book for March, etc.)JANUARY THROUGH MARCH - Miss Peregrine Series - Mary Pat, Amanda
JANUARY THROUGH MARCH - The Divergent Series - Lindsay, Mary Pat, Taylor R
JANUARY THROUGH JULY - Dark Tower Series - Lynn, Catherine
JANUARY THROUGH MAY - Samaria Series - Janet, Cassandra
FEBRUARY THROUGH APRIL - Plainsong Series - Mary Pat, Lynn
A couple of other notes...There were many other recommendations for Buddy Reads where there was only one reader so please browse through the posts and see if anything catches your interest!
Series reads are not limited to the participants. If you have already completed a series or have read the first book, feel free to join in any of the discussions. I know I plan to jump in on the Dark Tower series conversations! I have read them all and it is one of my all time favorites!
Do remember to mark spoilers though so that storylines are not revealed to those who are not as far along!
Let me know if you have any questions!
I am ridiculously excited for the Dark Tower series. I'm so glad Lynn suggested it! I've been wanting to read them all again!!
Catherine wrote: "I am ridiculously excited for the Dark Tower series. I'm so glad Lynn suggested it! I've been wanting to read them all again!!"I am excited about reading them too Catherine. I don't know how I missed reading them before now. :-)
Thanks for setting all these up Mary Pat.
Hello! I'm interested in participating in A Tale of Two Cities for February. I haven't read it since high school, but kept the book as it was one of my favorites. I'm excited to read it again as an adult.
Hi! I would like to join in on The Dark Tower series. I have had the first three books on my shelves forever and have not gotten around to reading them. This would be the perfect motivation to get them read!!! Thanks for having me.

Another note on series buddy reads...I am only including the "whole' number books in a series for a buddy read. I thought it would be best to leave the 1.x, 2.x, etc. books off the list. If folks decide they want to read them let me know. Perhaps, if a group wants to read them, they can do it as a buddy read at the end of a series.
The second and third place books for the January 2017 group read were The Penelopiad and The Historian respectively. Is anyone interested in reading either or both of these books as a Buddy Read?
I would like to read The Historian as a buddy read, but not until February at the earliest if anyone else wants to join.

I was planning to read The Penelopiad for January already - so if someone wants to join, I'd be happy to discuss.

Is anyone interested in reading the Mistborn Series with me? Perhaps just the original Mistborn trilogy to begin with? (As I believe 1-3 are a trilogy, and 4-7 are almost a separate sequel series). I've had the series on my radar for ages, and they just went on sale in the kindle store so I picked them all up!
Happy to start whenever in the next few months really.
Janine wrote: "Is anyone interested in reading the Mistborn Series with me? Perhaps just the original Mistborn trilogy to begin with? (As I believe 1-3 are a trilogy, and 4-7 are almost a separate sequel series)...."Hi, Janine! Several of us read the first book in this series as a Buddy Read in October. The second book is a part of my Series challenge this year but I could be convinced to read more.
Let's see who else is interested and we will make a plan from there!
P.S. LOVE those Kindle sales! :)
A series I would be interested in buddy reading this year is the Shannara series by Terry Brooks. I primarily just want to read the original trilogy.
I was planning to read The Well of Ascension, the 2nd Mistborn book, in January, but if you get another series buddy reader, I might change it to jump in with you!
Mary Pat - I forgot about that! I think I did see it, but I was away for three weeks in Oct so didn't sign up for it the buddy read.If there are people who want to read from #2 onwards, I can always move The Final Empire up in my reading for Jan and read it in the first week, so I'm ready to read the 2nd one with other people in Jan too! Or just read #1 on my own in Jan, and carry on with #2 as a buddy read from Feb. I guess it depends who's interested!
It's up to you, Janine! Not trying to pressure you into reading quicker than you hoped. Now that I think about it, Winter might still be reading The Final Empire. I'll let her know about our discussion here so she can check in. :)

Janine wrote: "Is anyone interested in reading the Mistborn Series with me? Perhaps just the original Mistborn trilogy to begin with? It would need to be nearer the end of January though as I have committed to lots already!

February totally works for me!

You will also probably have additional participants for the second book, Well of Ascension, if it is a little later in the year.

I will add this to the list starting in February!
Thank you Mary Pat!! You are doing so well keeping all of these books straight ... I can barely even keep track of what I'm doing myself, let alone everyone else! Ha ha!!
