Question for fellow audiobook listeners who have done this challenge before: Does anyone count Great Courses lectures in regards to page count? I listen to these fairly regularly and would like to come up with a formula to add to my total pages, but don't want to be too generous to myself either.

That's tricky, Jessica. I do think it's fine to come up with your own formula. Maybe you could look at a few audiobooks and figure out how many pages are in an hour or minute of audiobook, on average. Then you could use that number to do the math based on how long the Great Course reading is. Does that make sense?

Thanks for bringing this one up. I use Great Courses as well in other challenges. I will do the same as you...in fact I have a course I'm planning to start soon. If you come up with a formula, please share if you don't mind, and then we can be consistent. Or, if I get to my next one before you, I'll let you know what I come up with.

Absolutely. What I might do is take average pages per hour for a non-fiction book with a similar pace. I'm currently listening to The Six Wives of Henry VIII, which comes out to an average of slightly above 29 pages per hour. I think 29/per hour or 14.5 per half hour lecture might be reasonable.

That is up to you, Alexxy! Some people like to update their original post. If you do that, just be sure to post a new comment that says "Now I'm at 292 pages" so I know to update you. Another way to do it is to keep track of the full list in your corner and only post updates here. Or, what I'm doing is just keeping track of my number, not my full list of books. So lots of ways to keep track - find what works for you. :)
