I joined the Ford Audiobook Club on Goodreads. They're now offering their 4th free audiobook (through Audbile) which I downloaded yesterday. It's A Christmas Carol read by Tim Curry. That's the group where I got California & Everything I Never Told You recently.
Yeah, Goodreads and Audible are both Amazon now...I think Amazon might actually be the Illuminati.
If I vanish remember I said that.

Sweet I just joined and downloaded it as well. Thanks for the heads up! :)
Cool. I'm not sure if you can still get the older books in there. But all I had to do to get the coupon code for them was 1) join the group, and 2) add the books to my To Read shelf. A day or so later I got the code/link via email.Where with Christmas Carol, they just have a direct link to the free d/l.
Anybody sign up for BookBub? It says they are working on a country-specific option for Canada. If they get that it looks like a decent site for finding some deals.I use ereaderiq.ca for stalking amazon.ca titles and that one has netted me at least one free book as well as quite a few $1.99 and $2.99 options from my potential reading list.
I signed up earlier this year. They don't require reviews, and I get a daily email listing deals, like you say. I've only purchased a few through it, but they're cool. They link straight to Amazon, B&N, etc. for the purchases.
I've already found one potential read for $2.32CDN. It links to amazon.com unfortunately and then I have to go check amazon.ca to see if the deal is available to me easily, but that's okay. I'm Canadian. I'm used to Internet shopping being lousy and prices being highway robbery and I'm sorry for being so much trouble.

Any fans of Neil Gaiman's Sandman series? How do you feel about the upcoming adaptation to be directed by Joseph Gordon-Levitt?According to Neil, Benedict Cumberbatch would have been the perfect Morpheus (I agree) but he's already committed to Marvel as Doctor Strange. Offhandedly, Neil said: "Then again, Tom Hiddleston is still out there! And the truth is, as far as I’m concerned, anybody who sounds English with great cheekbones can probably pull it off."

Hugo Weaving would work as Morpheus. Especially if they had a Constantine cameo."Why are you in this film, Mr. Anderson?"

I'm skeptical that it will actually get made, because this isn't the first time it's been floating around. I also think that they should do an animated movie instead of live-action, but that doesn't seem to ever have been discussed.
Of course, that might stir up a bunch of internet rumors that V is actually Morpheus behind the mask.
I started 2 books today that I decided to set aside without rating or finishing. These are books that some people like and recommend. Personally they were just not books I wanted to spend my time on, but I didn't want to rip them either.Oh well, plenty out there I do want to read.
I might need to re-read Alloy, since I don't remember it well. But it's a short book, so no problem.
I just had to hold back a Sanderson fangirl squeal, so as not to disrupt my co-workers. Oh, and after reading this thread, I am now rethinking my Audible subscription. I am already working out the justification for the 24 credit prepay in my head.
Valerie wrote: "Oh, and after reading this thread, I am now rethinking my Audible subscription. I am already working out the justification for the 24 credit prepay in my head."It's pretty awesome. I mean, I go to B&N and look at their audiobooks and they are like $50 and $60 sometimes, and I'm like "Eh, I'll just download from Audible for $10, thanks."
Right now I am doing one credit per month and the charge went up to $16/monthly. More credits, but not that much more money? Makes sense to me!

ETA: I'm still good for the year (2014), at least.
Valerie wrote: "Right now I am doing one credit per month and the charge went up to $16/monthly. More credits, but not that much more money? Makes sense to me!"WHAT??? $16/month?? Lame.
Homeinmyshoes wrote: "My whole book allowance is $20 a month in total. $16 would kill me."You know, this is my same budget.
"My" audible account is actually hubby's - I got him an audible account for christmas about 2 years ago so I budget an extra 14.95 for him per month.
Mike (the Paladin) wrote: "I spend more than I can afford..."Oh, me too.
I admit to shifting money to buy books.
Hubby wants me to buy more clothes. I buy more books.
He says I can't wear books. He may be correct in this...but as I;m married...does it really matter?
As I've quoted before, remember the words of Desiderius Erasmus, "When I have a little money, I buy books; and if I have any left, I buy food and clothes.” I tend to spend more at Audible than elsewhere now though I do have 3 or 4 books in my cart waiting at ABE books. I'm holding off in case my daughter got one or more of them for Christmas. Then of course there's my wish-list at Amazon....

Soooooo me.
My wifi is down...no Kindle store. I'm not sure if that's good or bad. Comcast has been notifying me I need the new faster modem. Guess I'll have to get it.

But Comcast sucks. We buy our own modem cause we don't like paying the cost for the comcast modem.

I have Platinum Annual membership. I pay $229.50 up front for the whole year and get 24 credits, which works out to an average per credit cost of $9.56.
