A coworker found out last night that she's having a boy. They've already picked out names, and his name will be Dorian.I said, "Just make sure you never let him get his portrait done, and he should be fine."
No one got it...

Does anyone have one of those streaming boxes - like Roku or Chromecast or whatever?I'm thinking about dropping cable, but I want to know which streaming thing is best.
We had a Sony streamer box thing, but we ended up getting rid of it. It was cool, but a lot of the free episodes were broken up into parts, and they'd play in reverse, which is really annoying. My brother and dad have Rokus, and I think they are easy to use and useful, definitely better than the Sony I had. Never used Chromecast. We just use our PS3 now.

We have access to Netflix and HBOGo via family plus we have Amazon Prime, which is the only reason we don't have a Roku.
From what I've read/researched, Becks is right. The Roku seems to have the most robust system currently.
Hey, Colleen. What do you think of Wicked? (The book)
One of my friends said,
"My daughter just saw the ad for the musical, and said she might want to read the book. I read it, but it was YEARS ago, and I can't remember how appropriate it might be for someone on an early teen reading level."

Probably not early teen. There's some mature situations, and some strange sexual things. Like, really strange.I'm also not sure an early teen will really get the satire and nuances of the book.
It's a lot different, and more mature, than the musical.
I could have sworn we had a random (not necessarily funny, but interesting) image thread somewhere...or is this it?
Help!I saw a book "a while back" that I believe was the first in a series (like that's unusual). The title had something to do with a "warrior-wizard" or "sword-mage" or something like that. A wizard who was also a warrior. But I just went through my "to be reads" (twice) and apparently didn't put it on my list.
Ring any bells?
I don't think it was a D&D tie in not Forgotten Realms or anything like that.
Thanks.

This? The Swordmage Trilogy Its a bit literal but, you know.
It wasn't The Wizard Knight, and I looked at the trilogy to. This had a title that combined wizard or mage or something with warrior or sword or something into one word. I just can't remember it.It's driving me crazy!

I felt your pain! I'm glad you found it!! :)
Oh, so they did. *sigh* It doesn't really help me much though since sale prices would need to drop below $9.56 to benefit me, and many that I'm seeing aren't that low - so it'd be better to just use a regular credit. BUUUUUT... I do have that $10 from Black Friday that Audible handed out, so that changes things a bit. :)
I picked up Warriors for around $9, but that's all. There are a bunch of others I want, but the prices are all around $15 so not worth it to me right now.
I think I'm going to go with The Year of Reading Dangerously: How Fifty Great Books (and Two Not-So-Great Ones) Saved My Life, which will cost me $0.84 after the $10 Audible credit. I was torn between that one and A Million Ways to Die in the West, which is read by Jonathan Frakes (Number One!) but I dunno... the sample didn't really fit. I can't stop hearing him as Riker, and it's weird.
I'm still looking around to see if there's anything else that looks good.
*cough* I should mention that I also have almost 40 audiobooks that I need to listen to. So. Maybe I should factor that in with my challenge somehow... LOL

I went back and got books 4 and 5 of the Iron Druid series. Whatever. I'm out of credits and the price was equivalent to the price of one credit. I wanted them now.
Sounds reasonable to me! :DI'm slowly but surely building up my Dresden audiobook inventory. I got 1 & 2 on sale for $5.95 each not too long ago and I still have 5 credits left until February, so... I'll just use them for Dresden maybe.
Becky....what deal did you get. I pay $22.95 a month for 2 credits. That makes the breakeven point for me about $11.50. Sounds like you got a better deal.
