So, this happened:
Malice, btw, is a YA horror book... so why that's generated rec's for romance (erotica?), I have no idea... ô_o

I was going to comment on how if I read a book from a given country (in English) it probably doesn't mean I need recommendations of books in Arabic, or Czech, or Russian that aren't translated. The faith in my language abilities is way too high.
Considering I have no other languages besides English in books I've read it makes no sense.

hahahahaha
GR's recommendation engine sucks.
DoodlePanda wrote: "@MrsJ - any new on the ereader?"Yes!
I just got it about 30 mins ago! So excited!
It's...not quite what I expected (it's shorter but just as wide as my old Kobo) and now I wish I'd gotten the Aura H2O. Nate got one and it looks sweet (but it's like $40 more).

MrsJ - as much as I hated the homepage rec feature when it first came out, I've actually found a lot of books through it.
But it's obviously faaaaaarrrr from perfect. LOL
Oh I've found some decent ideas through the recommendations, but a language option might be useful. My geography challenge is really skewing the recommendations.Oh oh MrsJ. Buyers' remorse sucks, but it usually passes.
So far, it's a nice little ereader!I'm not a huge fan of the OS but I've never been a huge fan of Kobo's OS(s). The light is nice and it's adjustable. What I don't like is that there's a ghost line at the top and bottom from the lighting strips.
I kinda wish I'd gotten the H2O but HiMS is right. ;)

Nicki - I could probably look this up, but what's the difference between Paperwhite and Paperwhite 2? I love my Paperwhite, I could use it forever. But if there is a second edition out that's even Better... Upgrade time? LOL.
I recently bought the Paperwhite 2... After years of being anti-kindle... I'm slowly being converted. *shakes fist at Amazon* >_>Dawn, here's a comparison that I found online: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UFoUP...
I actually really love it... the light is SUPER even and bright, especially compared to my Nook with glowlight (1st gen).
Eh, doesn't look like it's something I need. It's brighter (I already read at half brightness so not a big plus for me), slightly lighter (I don't find mine to be heavy at all), and 25% faster. The only thing I'd like is the faster part, but I can live without it. I get frustrated with mine every once in a while when I am trying to browse through my books and it lags, but not frustrated enough to need a new one.
Yeah, I don't think there's anything that would really warrant an upgrade if you have a PW1 that you like... the flickering less would be nice, but it's not worth $119+, in my opinion, if you're happy with what you have.
Nicki wrote: "Hah! Touché, although I also feel a 'pot, kettle' defence coming on. :D"lol!!
What?? Me?? LOL
I haven't been sick in weeks. :)
Dawn wrote: "Flickering? I don't have any flickering issues."LOL I just mean the page refresh. Apparently the PW1 does every 6 pages, and the PW2 does it every chapter or so. I haven't used the PW1 so I dunno about that.
Colleen. I think I just found one on your TBR to avoid. The Iron Trial

Thanks for the heads up. I'm a bit iffy on this book anyway 'cause I haven't really liked anything of Black's since Tithe.
I *think* the flickering/ghosting is sometimes called refresh? My first Kobo had to refresh every so often or the ghosting started.
Yeah... I watched a video about the new Nook Glowlight and they changed how the refresh works on that one, and now it refreshes a lot less frequently (I think it was every chapter?), which means that the hazy ghosting can get pretty bad. That would annoy the hell out of me. So glad I didn't try that one out.
Remember that cartoon about the guy who couldn't go to bed because "someone was wrong on the internet"? That guy and his disciples keep finding my reviews and setting out to correct me.
I noticed a little something of that.:/
Not even recent reviews, are they?
Sometimes you gotta wonder why we put it out there.
People stumble over my review of one of their "favorite books" and feel obligated to point out my lack of intelligence, moral failings, incredibly bad taste and generally poor character.
I have a confession to make. One time I posted my disagreement on a review. I feel really guilty, but I could not help myself.
It was for The RiddleMaster of Hed, and I just couldn't take that they didn't get it.
I wasn't mean or anything, but....sigh.....
Like I said, he can't stand that "I'm wrong". He has to correct me. I've done the "agree to disagree" thing, so if he comes back I don't plan to answer...again. I've done my, "being civil" thing.
Bah, the Internet isn't about civility, it's about LOLCATZ.You could take solace in the increase in blood pressure you gave them. Just breath and then translate their text into pirate (it's coming on Friday) and read it again.
Homeinmyshoes wrote: "then translate their text into pirate (it's coming on Friday) and read it again. "Better yet... Post it back for them with a "Fixed that for you" and a wink. ;)
