Thanks, Brenda. One to digest and make me think and one purely for entertainment.

I'm liking it so far, not far in, it's 1255 and having a conversation with one of the scribes and how he laboriously goes about writing up and copying things such as their chronicles on sheepskin. Fascinating.

No they're all standalone Jools:) I read her previous and loved them both - this one looks like it will be as brilliant (at least!)

I just turned the last page of The Quality of Silence by Rosamund Lupton - absolutely breathtakingly brilliant! My review will follow soon :)

message 14266: by Sally906 (new)

Sally906 | 86 comments I have just picked up Serafina and the Black Cloak by Robert Beatty (a July release) a YA fantasy horror.

As I previously posted I am also reading My Grandmother Sends Her Regards and Apologises by Fredrik Backman As others have mentioned this one is written from the POV of a 7 year old girl. A very advanced 7 year old girl as it does not read how a ‘normal’ 7 year old would speak. However it does not bother me as I am suspecting she may be either a genius or on the Autistic spectrum, possibly both! I am loving it - another book where I am trying to read it slowly because I don't want it to end!)

I'm blown away by how good this one is Jools! How can an author get so much tension, so much brilliance in one book? And put little snippets of humour in to lighten things as well!

I haven't read A Man Called Ove, although it's on my list for the year, but are these stand-alone books? Could I read My Grandmother Sends Her Regards and Apologises before A Man Called Ove?

B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) I've finished The Angel's Game by Carlos Ruiz Zafón. Ruiz Zafon weaves such a tantalising mystery involving an author, Barcelona and a bookshop among other things. 4★

Picked up Fiercombe Manor or The Girl in the Photograph as it's known in Australia by Kate Riordan. It's very ho-hum after reading Ruiz Zafon.

That is the prequel to The Shadow of the Wind isn't it?

It is a 'prequel' in when it is set. Starts in 1917 but moves swiftly to correlating time of 1945 (same as TSOTW). But in the trilogy of The Cemetery of Forgotten Books, it is Book #2.

Or not choosing a book! Although the title can also help. Emails from Freebooksy feature quite a lot of books with muscly half-naked men on the cover. Easy to say no to something like this, just on cover and title:
TAKEN IN THE NIGHT BY MY BILLIONAIRE WEREWOLF STEPBROTHER: A STEAMY TABOO SHIFTER TALE OF FORBIDDEN LOVE TAKEN IN THE NIGHT BY MY BILLIONAIRE WEREWOLF STEPBROTHER A STEAMY TABOO SHIFTER TALE OF FORBIDDEN LOVE by Tara Wilde
