Suz | 4427 comments I today finished A Little Life. It took me about two weeks. Have never read a book like it, I just loved it. I can't review it yet it's just too raw. My problem is I honestly don't know what to read next. Does anyone have any suggestions about what they do when reading a very heavy book that blew you away? I have never felt like this before!!

B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) Over the weekend, I read/finished The Ghost of the Mary Celeste 2★ and The Prisoner of Heaven 5★.

Started The Enchanted and am finding it a very difficult book to read. It's prompting me to ruminate: "What is it like not to feel love, to live a life unable to feel compassion? How do you scream when there is no-one to hear you?"

The Ghost of the Mary Celeste was one of the very very few books I gave 1 star to. Really didn't like it. "

I really had to push myself to finish it. It probably did only deserve 1 star: it gets an extra star from hopefully prompting people to check out Google to read about this strange occurrence and other similar 'ghost ships'.

Thanks, Phrynne! Glad you liked it.

I stayed up late last night reading Riptide by Dawn Lee McKenna (which is so new it doesn't seem to have any details on the Goodreads page yet). It was a solid 4 stars, and I enjoyed it even more than the first one, Low Tide. An interesting suspense series featuring a female detective.

Ryan Me neither Kiera. I am really enjoying The Anubis Gates but I've been so busy with study that it's taken me over two weeks to read three quarters of it. Consequently I am also three books behind schedule. I might have to dip into a couple of novellas to catch up.

The term 'twice born' is an interesting and very old one. In Greek mythology, Dionysus, the son of the god Zeus and the mortal woman, Semele, is twice born. Semele is killed by Zeus' lightning bolts while Dionysus is still in her womb. Dionysus is rescued and undergoes a second birth from Zeus after developing in his thigh.
