I am really enjoying Day Shift, the 2nd book in Charlaine Harris's Midnight, Texas series. Borrowed from the library, but on my wishlist along with the first book. Features Manfred Bernardo, a character who made appearances in her Harper Connelly series, as well as cameos from characters in the Shakespeare and Aurora Teagarden series.
My library has all their (10) copies of Go Set a Watchman in and I find that I am now first in line of 32 reserves, so I should get to borrow it by the first book due to be returned, 18th Aug, which means at least I'll get it read before I go on hols!
I've just read The Cellist of Sarajevo by Steven Galloway which was inspired by real life events.However, the real Cellist of Sarajevo is none too pleased with author Steven Galloway. link: http://www.theaustralian.com.au/arts/...

Thanks for the article link, B. I've had this book on my list for a while, with no idea of the controversy surrounding it, but I will read it with my eyes open now.

I'm currently reading Catherine the Great: Portrait of a Woman by Robert K. Massie. Sounds heavy, but it's actually fascinating!

It has been on high school literature lists for a long time, and you can understand why when you've read the book yourself. The themes are universal.

I can't remember if I read or watched Alibrandi at school, but I did but it the other day, as well as The other one Kathryn mentioned. Looking forward them.

I don't usually do this but I have three books on the go ATM.my bedside read is Gifts of Fortune (3 Novels in 1), then I have Games Creatures Play on my tablet, and because I don't want to go outside walking with my tablet (I'd be REALLY annoyed if I tripped and dropped it [not a problem with a real book], and if the battery ran low I'd have nothing to read, also a tragedy!) so for that I have started Only We Know.
I did notice that on page 4, the description of the main char includes red hair, freckles and pale green eyes. The woman on the cover, red hair, freckles and BLUE eyes!!
I am reading:
Only We Know by Victoria Purman - a romance set on Kangaroo Island written by an Aussie authorand I am also reading:
Aunty Lee's Delights by Ovidia Yu - Is a cosy mystery set in Singapore written by a Singaporean author

That is annoying Marianne! It just proves they don't read any of it...just the blurb probably!

You know I didn't - to be fair I am reading an ebook version so the cover is not there for me to see - once I did an enlargement of the picture of the cover I did spot the different coloured eyes. Definitely blue on the cover - and described as pale green when she was on the ferry :)

And there are always people like you and me who notice these discrepancies, Marianne.The problem often is the illustrator has not read the manuscript. But I wouldn't have thought it would be too hard for publishers to give them those relevant details.

Yes, Dale, I agree. I am now about 100 pages in and her eye colour has been mentioned THREE times: once as pale green, once as green, once as brilliant green.
But aside from that, I am really starting to enjoy the characters. Sally said she's falling in love with Sam: I can see why!
Currently reading 'The Lost Child' by Suzanne McCourt and 'This House of Grief' by Helen Garner - tough topics, great writing!
Between challenges atm I am reading Preserving Family Recipes: How to Save and Celebrate Your Food Traditions by Valerie J. FreyNot exactly what I was expecting but interesting all the same, it is like family history for recipes and is very American styled so recipes (which there are quite a few good ones) have different measurements and would have to be converted. Also a few brand names and food articles that are foreign to me.
Last night I started The Wonder Lover I'm finding it darkly humorous. Or is that just my wierd sense of humour.
