I'm just starting this, glad you're enjoying it. I wasn't sure I wanted to read it, just in case it's really disappointing, but it was a gift from a colleague.

and have now started When the Night Comes

Hi Jo, I haven't experienced this problem but I have bought both of those titles so I will check on my Kindle when I get home tonight.
I noticed the other day that The Ugly Daughter was at the top of the list on my Kindle - which was odd - so I wondered whether Amazon had sent me a replacement copy. They do that sometimes when people complain about the typos and formatting issues.

It's one I've been uncertain about reading, that's why I asked Kiera...4 stars is good though:) Thanks!

This book was quite a thrilling read for me and found it hard to put down. The voices of the three female characters tell the story, but found it a bit difficult to relate to them as each had their flaws. Overall, in my opinion there were some very good aspects of this book and some not that good. I gave the book 4 stars as it held my interest and liked the way it was written.

Hey Jo - I checked both books on my Kindle and they were normal so I think you just have to persist with the customer service option.

I have contacted Amazon and they managed to do The Ugly Daughter download but Unforgivable still won't load. The guy said it was a problem with the publisher with the ebook. Now if yours has loaded i'm not sure now.
I see Fishpond online has a 2nd hand book of unforgivable for $8.50.

Lots of other members here have Kindles and have bought the book via Amazon, I presume. Why not ask Brenda?

Jo, if you send me your email address I can forward you a mobi file.

I have never had a problem with any ebook files from Amazon, so I'm sorry I can't help. They're pretty good as a rule with follow up things though:)

Thanks Brenda. Not far in but seems interesting so far.

I hope I will like it because I will feel awkward reviewing it otherwise but I am determined to be honest. So far I like some things and not others.

I should have said more, Jo could use these examples; that other people have successfully received a copy via Amazon so it couldn't be publisher problem.

I didn't bother with that one or... whatever the 5th one was called when I re-read the series recently. Just aren't the same in my opinion.
Finished Ancillary Sword, loved it. Can't wait for Mercy now.

Well, it could never be a [author:Douglas Adams|4] book, could it? I still enjoyed, just bearing that in mind.

I just finished A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara. It was exactly what the blurb and others here have said - a profoundly moving book. There were times I had to stop reading on the train because it was becoming impossible to hold back the tears and not burst out sobbing. It's taken me all week to read it not just because it's long but because I had to keep taking a break to get my breath back. Review to follow when I can gather my thoughts into some sort of coherence.

That's a bit scary Rita! I'm not sure any review I write will do it justice. I think it might just be the best book I've read this year.

Many people are saying the same thing Carolyn. My reason for avoiding it so far is simply that I don't want to cry my way through a book. I have to admit that I tend to avoid anything too profound. My bad:)

Nothing wrong with that either Phrynne..

I can understand that Phrynne. It is very confronting and I expect many people will not want to read it for that reason but I am glad I tackled it. In compensation I won't be reading anything too serious for a while now.
Yes @ Dale and Carolyn - I get uncomfortable with confronting things. Which is what I am supposed to feel of course but I usually prefer to pretend bad things just don't happen:)

Well that is sooo NOT THE CASE with Don't Get Me Wrong by Marianne Kavanagh !!!
I loved her first book, For Once in My Life, and was really looking forward to this one. I am about a third in now, and it's at least as good as the first, maybe better.
Of course, anything could still happen, but I am very glad I got this one from Text.....
I will certainly reflect in my review if the standard drops, but loving it up to now.
Marianne wrote: "You know how sometimes you read the first book by a new author and you really love it, and you can't wait to see what they do next? And then you've built up your expectations and the second book do..."
That's fantastic Marianne! So often they have "second book syndrome"!

So good to hear that someone's not having the whole 'second book syndrome' thing :)

Rita, I think you'll find the author shows the impacts of abuse; the descriptions of abuse are relatively few but how one character's life is affected is just gut-wrenching.
I, too, avoided it at first because of the hype, but finally gave in when a GR friend whose opinion I value reviewed and rated it so highly. While I didn't really cry thru the book, the ending just knocked me sideways. Rarely does something make me speechless but this book did. I was at a loss to adequately review it, I rated it 5 stars and it is my Book of the Decade.
I'd read it, if I were you.

I think we all know what you mean. The author I thought might disappoint me was Lucy Clarke but I've just read her third book

I loved The Blue: A Novel as well Marlin and look forward to reading her first two books. I have Swimming at Night lined up on my kindle!

A Little Life
A Little Life

Would love to know what you think of it, I read that one first (as The Sea Sisters, which I can't to link atm).
A Single Breath was one of my favourite books last year

Thanks Bette. I definitely will read at some stage. I just have my contrary hat on at the moment because I'm so heartily sick of seeing it in my feed! "
I can understand your feelings, you do kinda get mugged by it on your feeds!
Good to know someone else has a contrary hat:)
