What Are You Currently Reading? (doesn't have to be an Aussie book)
Finished The War of the Worlds today, no review yet, hopefully tomorrow.Started Coraline, love Gaiman, loved the movie, liking what I've read so far (now to get rid of this migraine so I can keep reading...)
A Place Called Winter
by Patrick Gale was a great read! my review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
and further to my post about similar things in consecutive books, my current read,
also mentions the dangers of being discovered to be homosexual in the first half of the 20th century.
I am currently reading Past the Shallows by Favel Parrett, The Road to Hope by Rachael Johns and Curve My Attitude by Sarah GaiA bit of a mixed bunch :)
A couple of reviews that I can now post:Inside the O'Briens by Lisa Genova
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
We That Are Left by Clare Clark

Finished Cold Grave by Kathryn Fox last night and have to say I am a bit disappointed in it...I gave it 3*s because it was just ok, but definately not up to the standard I have come to expect from her. Will have to think a bit before reviewing it..
Am now reading The Rosie Effect by Graeme Simsion, my 4th and final choice for the March challenge ;)

Doing it as a buddy read made it more enjoyable but it wasn't as good as the previous ones in the series. Never really got going. Too many themes perhaps, none of them well developed and too many facts and figures being shoved at us.

So glad you enjoyed it Mish, it's one I watched having no idea it was a book..

I've been trying to find this movie on Fox with no luck...any suggestions? Apple TV maybe??

It's still worthwhile reading the book Suzanne, if you liked the movie. They managed to capture every important scene (or year) in the movie, but naturally the scenes were in-depth and longer in the book.

I borrowed it from the local video shop. But I know Marianne got it through the library.

hmm I'm only about 120 pages in ... was hoping it would pick up :-(

Hubby found it for me on Apple TV to rent, so I will watch it next time my sister is over...as he is not keen :)
Currently reading The Wonder of All Things. I wasn't sure about whether I would like it but so far I am enjoying it.
I finished High Heat a novella by Lee Child. It was good.

Hate to disappoint you Jen, but I didn't think it did.

Oh fantastic Julie :) Let us know what you think.
Finished my Buddy read with Carolyn: Cold Grave by Kathryn FoxThis is the 6th book in the Anya Crichton series, all of which we have so far read, with #7 waiting on the shelf to be read later in the year.
Sadly I could only give this one 3*s and was a bit disappointed in it, compared to the previous 5 books.
*its always great fun doing a Buddy read though and made it more bearable ;)
My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Incantation of Frida K. by the brilliant Kate Braverman affected me so deeply that it has taken me a while to process my thoughts and feelings about it enough to write a proper review, but here it is:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Of the forty-odd reviews I've written, this one may be the one that means the most to me. This extraordinarily beautiful book still has the power to bring tears to my eyes just from thinking about it - not sad tears, grateful tears for a story so beautiful and so profoundly resonant with my own. 5★s are woefully inadequate here.
Sally wrote: "Incantation of Frida K. by the brilliant Kate Braverman affected me so deeply that it has taken me a while to process my thoughts and feelings about it enough to write ..."Wow Sally, will definately have to have a look at it now!
I have just picked up
A Spool of Blue Thread by Anne TylerSo far so good - has pulled me in almost straight away.

That's always a good start Sally. I'm currently reading
Moonlight Plains and have found the same.
Can now post review for Little Bastards in Springtime by Katja Rudolph. Quite an eye opening book.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Is that one on your kindle Michael? I'm keen to read it myself, so will be watching for your review with interest:)

Michael wrote: "I just finished The Chocolate Promise and will have to think long and hard about how to word my review. Just read the blurb for The Chocolate Promise and I see what you mean. No way in the world will I read a book where the main character is called Christmas Livingstone.

I frequently get turned off books by silly names. Some authors go a bit crazy when they name their characters:)

Yes I'll definitely get to this one Mish, I've noticed it's one that most readers liked the translation to movie.
Sally wrote: "Incantation of Frida K. by the brilliant Kate Braverman affected me so deeply that it has taken me a while to process my thoughts and feelings about it enough to write ..."I screen shot this to read your review tomorrow when my house is peaceful. Your comment made me look and I'm intrigued Sally :)
Dale wrote: "The thing is I actually like unusual names, but within reason."I agree Dale. It's funny what they come up with. But rarely do we see 'plain Jane' names anymore! I really do like different, but not crazy.
I've finished Fingersmith by Sarah Waters; wow, oh, wow! (Review to follow hopefully)Then greedily picked up and started The Night Watch by same author.

A hearty "hear hear" from me, Phrynne.
I just finished The Witch of Napoli by Michael Schmicker. I thoroughly enjoyed it, enough that I even wrote a review, which I hardly ever do.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Started on The Last Summer of Reason - the writing is a tad fancy for my taste but I shall soldier on.
