Currently reading Ill-Gotten Gains by Ilsa Evans and really enjoying it! Already come across our Sally in the action!

I really liked that one. Hope you enjoy it as much :)

Then greedily picked up and started The Night Watch by same author."
Fingersmith has been on my TBR for awhile, now I want to read it even more!

Read some more of The Road to Hope although it is romance it isn't fluffy as it tackles the meaty subject of Alzheimer's and ageing.

Ok, you've got my attention, its on the TBR.. Did you read The Paying Guests? I was planning that one soon, maybe I should switch?

Now reading Can You Keep a Secret? by Caroline Overington

Continuing my 'Sarah Waters fest', I'm now reading and loving Tipping the Velvet. Enjoying my foray into Victorian Lesbian Gothic Fiction. Very, very tame lesbian fiction, that is.

I read The Paying Guests (post WWI) first, which introduced me to her writing. Fingersmith is Gothic Fiction, set in 1862. They're have very tames lesbian scenes; so tame they probably wouldn't make your mother blush. I loved each book equally.

Not fun Sally. Good that you have a book to help take your mind off your troubles.
I finished The Apothecary's Daughter by Charlotte Betts. It was okay.

A small warning: Some of the passages and certainly one of the middle chapters may offend the more straitlaced amongst readers. I am boringly straight but they did not offend me, merely added more insight into the character, Nan.

OK so far today - was still wobbly yeasterday so got to finish The Road to Hope by Rachael Johns (5★)
And now I am finishing

This author is really starting to sound
intriguing Bette. I'm pushing her up to the top of the TBR!!!

Readable, but not re-readable.
I finished A Spool of Blue Thread by Anne Tyler. A lovely book. I really hope she does continue writing!

It is really good but you do have to like her style of writing.

Great review - this is one of my current reads - really enjoying my time with the Whitshank family - I even have my own Denny - except our Denny is a girl :) This character I really love as I relate to him and empathise with his parents :)

Had to slow down my reading since going back to uni. Had two tests Friday afternoon, but the second I got home I had the pleasure of blazing through that 600 page book. Pure bliss.

Anne Tyler always excels at characterisation doesn't she? And all her people are flawed to one degree or another but still likeable- just like real people:)

And this evening I started The Thorn Birds by Colleen McCullough. Have only read around 10 pages so far, but am enjoying it already, hopefully that persists, and if it does, it will be a cracker of a book.
I finished The Gathering Storm by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson. So so good:)

I'm craving something good. Hopefully this one will be it. Frantic

Another great read Mary! I also loved Bereft really nice writing style. I've been looking out for his other book Cairo, which was recommended to me after reading this...I see you have read it and not too fussed?

Julie, I definitely enjoyed Cairo, and it is well worth reading. I just had some niggles with some of the characterisation - a bit stereotypical in some places, and some minor discrepancies in the main character. Those niggles have affected my star rating and overall review of the book...Also, Cairo is completely different from the style and feel of Bereft.

Thanks Mary, if I see it in my secondhand book shops I will get it :)
I am listening to The Color of Magic by Terry Pratchett. I first read it years ago and had forgotten how funny it is. I have actually started laughing out loud as I walk along the street:) I have had a few strange looks.

I'm reading Carpe Jugulum by Terry Pratchett. Love the witches.
Have to look at getting some of the audiobooks. Who narrates them Phrynne?

I listened to this one a few months ago and had the same experience with the laughing out loud. The audio book I listened to was narrated by Nigel Planer.
I just picked up Going Postal from my library. I am reading through the Discworld books by series. Reaper Man will be next.

Spot on there Phrynne - she seems to make ordinary, everyday nothings be riviting. She sneaks up and sucks you in to her fictional worlds.

I love the witches too - and DEATH. A few Prachett fans have created a web petition asking DEATH to bring Prachett back: http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/31867210

I enjoyed it but not as much as some of her later books. The Last Runaway was my favourite.
