What Are You Currently Reading? (doesn't have to be an Aussie book)

That sums it up well Sally.
Just finished Can You Keep a Secret? by Caroline Overington and not sure how I feel about it just yet :/ 3.5*s for the writing.Review to follow: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Next up is something a bit lighter, Keep the Ends Loose by Molly D. Campbell

Sharon wrote: "I've started Girl With a Pearl Earring by Tracy Chevalier I have quiet a few friends who have rated this high, so I am hopeful :)"This one Sharon is one that I've seen the movie but had no inclination to read the book. Look forward to your review and my mind might be changed!
It's been really different reading about Sydney in Frantic, this author is really good! Katherine Howell. So detailed down to the streets and suburbs. Glad I came across this book, and all my AR friends have rated it very highly.
@ Suzanne & Dales re Girl With a Pearl Earring Interesting, never heard of the author before or the move. Picked it up from an op shop, because I liked the idea it speaks of art and painting
Despite the silly name, I am enjoying The Chocolate Promise, although I have picked up quite a few typos...
Yes, was in my ARC. Assuming they will be fixed before final publication. Despite my negative comments re the name etc Allen and Unwin liked my review.
I would think they would like ALL reviews of their books, as anything you say gets the books noticed and is feedback for the author
Marianne wrote: "I would think they would like ALL reviews of their books, as anything you say gets the books noticed and is feedback for the author"I guess. Of course not all authors always like anything that is negative even if the rest of the review is positive. But then I guess most of us don't like criticism.
No, we don't. But an author was asking me recently should she just "like" the high rating reviews, and I said, if you are going to like any, then like them all, at least if the reviewer has more to say than "I didn't like this book" and the criticism is helpful. What I was surprised about was when A&U rated one of their own publications with 3★s. I left a comment and they then said, oops, mistake, we don't rate our own books, and promptly removed the rating, LOL.

I just finished A Spool of Blue Thread by Anne Tyler - 3 stars - I really loved it - BUT! Will do a review soon :)Have picked up
Not Quite Nice by Celia Imrie is a new release and she is an actress who I really enjoy - been in Calendar Girls and both of the exotic Marigold hotel movies- so looking forwards to her first book :)
Over the last few days, I've read The News Where You Are by Catherine O'Flynn, At Risk by Alice Hoffman and The Middlesteins by Jami Attenberg. Now, I've started Changing Places by David Lodge; I'm enjoying the story. But the edition I have has such tiny print, it's making my eyes ache:

I will be interested to see what your BUT is that reduced it to 3 stars:)

LOL - not as bad as it sounds - I use an A,B,C system - and so line that up with 5 stars, 4 stars, 3 stars.
MY 3 stars is "above Average" - a 2 star from me is still a very readable "Average" and I don't score books below that - they get quietly deleted off my shelves :)
I've just finished Girl With a Pearl Earring by Tracy Chevalier and loved it 5*

Thanks to Phrynne mentioning it last month, I'm now completely engrossed in Touch by Claire North. It's absolutely amazing.

She's a lovely writer. I also love the books she writes as Kate Griffin

I just finished Towers of Midnight which was a marathon read at 841 pages:) So worth it though.

I'm in the middle of A Madness of Angels too, but I'm reading that one just here and there. I like Touch better than The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August.
Me too but I must admit I have a soft spot for Matthew Swift and wish she would continue his series:)
That's good to know. I've been enjoying the story but Swift is a bit odd and I've been uncertain about him.

Have you ever read any of the Dresden Files? Matthew is very like the main character in that.

I am very much enjoying Die with Me
by Elena Forbes, which is a good thing as it's the first in a series and I have two more to read. I started with the 4th, so will probably reread that one too.
Finished Slaughterhouse-Five and gave it four stars and a matching review. Now I'm reading Night Walker by Aaron L. Speer.
I started and finished The Woman in the Fifth by Douglas Kennedy. Anyone who knows me well would know I'm a Douglas Kennedy fan but I'm not thrilled with this book. It's my second read, I really disliked it at first reading but this time I've fared a little better. I really like the writing but part of the theme of the novel is just so not DK.

I haven't yet. I think I have the first five, some on audio, but I never seem to get to them. I'm not a big fan of Urban Fantasy so I always seem to put it off. I think the thing I'm struggling with the most is that his character seems both male and female. It's unfamiliar. The story is fascinating, though.
Tango wrote: "Just started Under the Dome which is a whopper. I could be here for a while!"Tango, are you usually a King fan? I've been curious about that book but I'm iffy on how much I enjoy his work. It's either love or hate.
I've just finished Going to Miami: Exiles, Tourists and Refugees in the New America for the "All About Books" 2015 Bingo Challenge. I was looking forward to this one, but can't believe how bad it was.My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I have just finishedThe Secret Keeper. It turned out to be a fantastic, gripping page turner but you will need to be patient as it doesn’t pick up pace until the last 50% of the book. The first half was tremendously boring; wordy and descriptive with a shallow and dislikable protagonist, which made it even more difficult to get into.Full review soon.

One I have on my TBR and it's been there for some time!

Marianne wrote: "Despite the silly name, I am enjoying The Chocolate Promise..."That is a strange name. From the title, I assumed it was a cookbook, or perhaps a book about the nutritional benefits of chocolate.
Brenda wrote: "Mish wrote: "I have just finishedThe Secret Keeper. I've been putting it off because of the size but glad I read it now.
I gave it 3 stars only because of the slow pace at the start but it's worth persevering with it.
Picked up Wildflower Hill by Kimberley Freeman then realised I must have started this sometime before and not continued at that time ... thought it was sounding familiar
Tango wrote: "Just started Under the Dome which is a whopper. I could be here for a while!"
its definitely a chunkster!

I actually find all of her books a bit wordy. Her stories are good but she needs an editor with a red pen:)

And you're right Phrynne, a good editor would've made whole lot of difference to the book - a lot tighter at least - because it was actually a clever plot with amazing surprises and twists.

I'm reading Hogfather! Sounds like there's a lot of us reading Pratchett right now.
