And I have finished Silently and Very Fast by Catherynne M. Valente. Four stars and a review. Now I'm reading Wuthering Heights.
Another one of those eerie coincidental things I keep getting. Just finished a reread of The Jigsaw Man in which there is a comparison of the main villain to Tom Ripley (The Talented Mr. Ripley). Now I am reading The Truth and Other Lies where the back blurb compares the (anti) hero to Tom Ripley.
That kind of stuff happens to me all the time. I laugh when people say "there are no coincidences". They must not be paying attention.
I finished Birdsong by Sebastian Faulks. Once more, I was again reminded by Faulks of the sacrifice and hardship that the soldiers in WWI suffered. A brilliant and Must Read book 5★Started The Madonnas of Leningrad by Debra Dean.
Burning through Flowers for Algernon and getting frustrated with the world's apparent inability to give me a book which doesn't make me horribly depressed by the end of it.

just finished and really enjoyed The Truth and Other Lies
(love this cover) by Sascha ArangoI think you'd like it too, Vicki. Will post my review on the embargo date 22nd April
Morning, Marianne. I usually steer clear of books where the main character is a writer, but if you're recommending it, I'll overlook that. :) I look forward to your review.
Vicki wrote: "Morning, Marianne. I usually steer clear of books where the main character is a writer"Haha great advice, Vicki.
My review for Behind the Sun by Deborah Challinor which I finished a few days ago - 5★s

I've finished Remarkable Creatures by Tracy Chevalier. It's about 19th century female fossil collector/ palaeontologist, Mary Anning and her champion, Elizabeth Philpot, amateur palaeontologist. A fictional insight into their lives and, like all books Chevalier, well worth reading. 4★Mary Anning: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Anning
Elizabeth Philpot: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elizabet...
At long last, my turn in the library queue has come for Let Me Be Frank With You by Richard Ford:D
B the BookAddict wrote: "I've finished Remarkable Creatures by Tracy Chevalier. Would be nice to read a fiction book on the topic.

Having never read D'Arcy Niland The Shiralee
I bought a copy on Monday and am half-way through. Love it, especially as its set in my neck of the woods.
Super busy here, not much time for reading or getting online (shock horror!)However earlier in the week I did finish Aquarium by David Vann.
Totally confused on what to rate it.

Hopefully sometime over the weekend I will get time to check out what everyone else has been reading and what they thought of what they read.

I just added this Marianne, it looks good.

The lack of time thing seems familiar.. hope you can find enough over the weekend to do with what you want!
I've got a few on the go (as usual :) ) - I'm currently trying to read Dark Horse by Honey Brown. It seems like its got such potential - and its had awesome reviews, but I'm really struggling to wade through the start. I hope it gets better - the start seems really overwritten, but I'm not much for lots of description so that's probably personal preference. Page 33 and we've still only met the heroine. Maybe that's my problem - no dialogue for 30-odd pages save a brief phone call at the start... I shall persevere!
Kerrie wrote: "I've got a few on the go (as usual :) ) - I'm currently trying to read Dark Horse by Honey Brown. Collin's The Burial, also not finished. If I had time to read in the am, instead of just before 'light's out' I may have read both with more enthusiasm.

If you can persevere it is excellent IMO - I gave it 5 stars:)

I've heard of this book Nicole, but not read it...I'll be interested in your thoughts when you're done:)

Brenda wrote: "If you can persevere it is excellent IMO - I gave it 5 stars:)"I second that. My favourite read of 2014.
I recently finished Matthew Flinders' Cat by Bryce Courtenay which I thought was excellent. It explored some tough issues such as homelessness, alcoholism, drug use and paedophilia, sometimes with more information provided than I really needed or wanted to know, but it was not gratuitous and all appropriate within the context. On another note, I am now back to Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie which I've been reading on and off for 3 weeks (more off than on!) and am still less than 1/3 of the way through. I'm hoping it picks up soon... It needs to go back to the library in about a week and I'm not sure whether I will bother to borrow it again if I'm not finished by then...
@Kathryn What a shame about Half of a Yellow Sun. I really enjoyed that one. Maybe because I remember as a little kid collecting money for the school's Project Compassion charity which benefited those in the Biafran famine).

I have Half of a Yellow Sun on my TBR, I hope it does improve for you.
