Bryan Craig Welcome, Matt. Thank you for your service, by the way. I hope this group gives you some nice distraction while you are in Afghanistan.

Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you are ready to cite a book. (There is a link on the top right of the reply box.) It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the Goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them. When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo and author's link at the very bottom of the post after your text. Because it is on the bottom, it calls the reader's attention to the book/author and increases the readability of your posts.

This is how the book you mentioned should look:

Undaunted Courage The Pioneering First Mission to Explore America's Wild Frontier by Stephen E. Ambrose by Stephen E. Ambrose Stephen E. Ambrose

I also enjoy reading history of political leaders and musicians. I have recently read Cash, the autobiography about Johnny Case and Arno Karlen's Man and Microbes, both of which were great.

Dan | 1 comments Hello I am 17 from the UK and just a beginner when it comes to reading history books.

I am hoping to study History at uni next year and teach the subject in a secondary school. I don't really know what history I enjoy most so i am currently reading Andrew Marr A history of the world and I will get books on subjects i enjoy reading about in his book.

Fun fact i can list british monarchs, UK Prime Ministers and US presidents in order off by heart.

Bryan Craig Hi Stephen and welcome. Check out our naval history topic:
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...

This is how a book should look:

The Passage of Power (The Years of Lyndon Johnson, #4) by Robert A. Caro by Robert A. Caro Robert A. Caro

Thanks for joining.

Mun | 3 comments Hello everyone. My name is Mun and I’m from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

As little as I've read so far to date, I personally must say that I’m a beginner in genre of History.

Since I always feel that I am limited by my favoritism in fiction be it thriller, historical or fantasy, so I decided to take an initiative to broaden my “reading” horizon with a military history as a starter.

I've really enjoyed few excellent written books on great military exploits so far, such as;

Mi6 The History of the Secret Intelligence Service, 1909-1949 by Keith Jeffery , Gideon's Spies The Secret History of the Mossad (Updated) by Gordon Thomas , Operation Mincemeat The True Spy Story That Changed The Course Of World War II by Ben Macintyre

and now I’m very much looking forward for the discussions, recommendations and guidance within this group to further my read not in just in military but the World History itself.

Once again, thanks for the opportunity to be part of this community. :D
