Hi,my name is Jesse. Being a former microbiologist, I like to study how microbes have played such a vast role in our own history. I also enjoy reading history of political leaders and musicians. I have recently read Cash, the autobiography about Johnny Case and Arno Karlen's Man and Microbes, both of which were great. Cash

Hello I am 17 from the UK and just a beginner when it comes to reading history books.I am hoping to study History at uni next year and teach the subject in a secondary school. I don't really know what history I enjoy most so i am currently reading Andrew Marr A history of the world and I will get books on subjects i enjoy reading about in his book.
Fun fact i can list british monarchs, UK Prime Ministers and US presidents in order off by heart.
Hello Jesse. Thanks for your recommendations, they are great. Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you comment. (There is a link on the top right of the reply box.) It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the Goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them. When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo and author's link at the very bottom of the post after your text. Because it is on the bottom, it calls the reader's attention to the book/author and increases the readability of your posts.

Hi everyone, my name is Lindsey. I just joined this group in order to get some direction in reading about the history of the world. I'm interested in learning more about all sorts of places and things and I've always enjoyed history. I thought this might be a good fit. I've marked the books on the main page as "to-read" and I'm looking forward to joining in when a new set comes out. Thanks!

Alan wrote: "I live in the Boston area and am an Anglophile w/particular interest in Western Civilization - especially 20th Century/WWI & WWII."You ought to enjoy the group Alan. Both of my grandfathers enlisted in WWI from the Boston area and my dad, who was 20 when America declared war in WWII, departed from college outside Boston and enlisted.
Hello bookworms,I'm an avid reader, researcher and enjoy studying history. Heck...I'm even involved on a few historical/economic writing projects from time-to-time. My personal preference is American and some European history but open to most topics.
Happy to discover and experience new content to expand my knowledge.
Thanks for including me into this group.
Happy reading.

Hi, I am Marcia. I am a history teacher, and have been doing this for a long long time. I have been an avid reader since well, forever. Love mysteries and fiction and historical bios. I even read some teen lit that my kids suggested ha ha. Not bad surprisingly.
I am looking forward to the interaction and discussion in this group. I am sort of glad it forced me out of my usual lurking mode and into the light.
I have a two week break coming up and will have a lot more time to read and try new books I haven't thought of.
Hello. My name is Rose, I live on the Oregon coast and I truly enjoy history. I've been lurking around the site and like seeing what people are reading and their discussions; I am thankful for the citations on books as it is very helpful. I look forward to reading with everyone.
Hi, everyone. I am Oni, live in Indonesia. Currently I am studying philosophy. Love history books (most of my non-fiction collections are history). My interests are mostly history of civilization, and the collapse of civilization, and history of economy.Looks like the group site is too big. I am a bit overwhelmed, and I don't know where to start. I am going to need some guidance.
Hi Everyone,Yes, Oni...it is a bit overwhelming to me, too. My name is Mary, and history has always been my favorite subject. I enjoy non-fiction books about history as well as historical fiction. I like everything from military history to historical romance to ancient civilizations. I have a particular interest in biography, but I must admit right now I am mostly reading young adult historical fiction.
Hi everyone my name is Melissa I am from Minnesota. I read varieties of books from Tolkien, Jane Austen, and history (any), also books on military history. I am currently reading The Secret Holocaust Diaries.
Hi! My name is Alex Villasana, and I'm personally interested in US History. I'm a permanent resident here, and in the near future I hope to apply for US citizenship. That is the main reason for my interest in history.
Welcome, Marcia. Glad you could join us.We have several threads on different historical figures that might give you some idea of biographies to read. And we would be happy to see any additional suggestions that you might have.

Hello everyone,I live in the good old USA, and I have loved history since I was a high schooler some thirty plus years ago now. I tend to favor biographies, especially of presidents from the early or pivotal years, and I enjoy well written histories of various conflicts. I am looking for a good bio of Stalin, however, and if anyone can recommend one I would appreciate it.

Hello everyone. My name is Mun and I’m from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. As little as I've read so far to date, I personally must say that I’m a beginner in genre of History.
Since I always feel that I am limited by my favoritism in fiction be it thriller, historical or fantasy, so I decided to take an initiative to broaden my “reading” horizon with a military history as a starter.
I've really enjoyed few excellent written books on great military exploits so far, such as;
,
,
and now I’m very much looking forward for the discussions, recommendations and guidance within this group to further my read not in just in military but the World History itself.
Once again, thanks for the opportunity to be part of this community. :D
