Bryan Craig Hello Redeemer. I second what Rosalind posted, it is great to have folks from Africa here in our group.

Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you are ready to cite a book. (There is a link on the top right of the reply box.) It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the Goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them. When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo and author's link at the very bottom of the post after your text. Because it is on the bottom, it calls the reader's attention to the book/author and increases the readability of your posts.

Jill H. (bucs1960) Moved and modified.

My name is Margareta and I am a researcher. History is such a fascination topic that it difficult to narrow down what I'm most interested in. Due to personal connections to it, I'm interested in modern European history, in particular WWII with an emphasis on the Nazi Holocaust. In addition, I'm also interested in Ancient history, in particular Greek and Roman, as well Egypt and Persia.

Looking forward to connecting with you.

Besides history, I'm interested in the crime and thriller genre, and I highly enjoy reading books in English.
Best wishes,

My name is Mark, I live in Sydney Australia, retired and have a passion for reading history books and biographies. I am a member of a Military History Book Club in Canberra that meets over dinner to discuss a new book with the author ever couple of months.

During 2013 I brought the history of WW1 and the American Civil War to life by exploring the battlefields of Northern France and the Civil War. Fantastic experience, although it has added a lot of book titles to the wish list.

I look forward to being a member and contributing to this club.

Tyler Long | 1 comments Hey folks,

My name is Tyler and I live in Western Washington in the US. I'm only just out of high school with two years of community college under my belt. I've always loved reading and have only just recently began to delve into the many history books out there.

I absolutely love the bi-monthly trip to the nearest mall (about 3 hours) and spending some time browsing the Barnes and Noble shelves for interesting looking history books, I've already got quite a few piled up.

I've no specific favorite period of history and have been trying my best to be diverse! I do have a love for medieval history but have yet to read into it much in terms of books. I'm currently reading on Russian history around the WWI and WWII period.

I look forward to participating in the group,

Thanks.

Tara Lennon | 1 comments Hello. I have been keeping up with lists on Goodreads for a while and came across this group that sounds interesting. Though work has taken me off in different directions the last 20 years, I am degreed in history with a concentration in Early American history from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.

Through I learned history in the chronological format, my interest has been maintained over the years by increasingly going backwards in time for the answers to my questions. My newest interests are in the years before the mass exodus from Europe to America and further back to the great reformation. 20th Century American diplomatic, military and science history have always been interests as well.

I'm ashamed to say this book as been on my reading list for a long time. I've never gotten around to reading it. I wonder what others think of it. 1491 New Revelations of the Americas Before Columbus by Charles C. Mann

I look forward to participating with the group.

Thanks,
Tara

Eliana *waving hello*

I'm Eliana, homeschooling mother of 7 (some at home, some grown). I live in the Pacific Northwest, and have loved to study and read about history for most of my reading life.

This year's two foci were Roman history and 1900-1945, largely in Britain, and with a primary focus on the 1930's. ...but none of that was planned! I read voraciously and eclectically, and themes arise by instinct and serendipity.

I look forward to the spark and inspiration of sharing ideas and books with fellow enthusiasts!

Victoria (vicki_c) Hello, I am Victoria (although I really go by Vicki, but either work fine!) and I am obviously a fan of history or I wouldn't be here. I've already posted in a few threads and gotten some pointers on the book citation formatting. I read more historical fiction than non-fiction, but I enjoy both. I am currently taking a MOOC (online course) with U-VA on historical fiction and have been really enjoying it. We have had great guest lecturers, including Geraldine Brooks and Matthew Pearl. I hope to participate in one of the upcoming group reads here when I see something starting that grabs my attention.

I have an undergraduate degree in English although was probably very close to qualifying for a minor in history. I'm not sure what period interests me most, probably British/England history and in the Tudor period. I am less well versed in world history so perhaps this group will help me improve on that.

I did attend Flint Hill Elementary School in Vienna, Virginia which is a stone's throw from the house where Mosby rode his horse into a house and led it upstairs to escape pursuing union troops. Not sure about the veracity of that one either.

Jill H. (bucs1960) Welcome Jacob. Let me get you started with a link to one of your favorite subjects....the American Civil War.

https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...

This is how a book you mention should look:

Berlin Diary The Journal of a Foreign Correspondent 1934-41 by William L. Shirer by William L. Shirer William L. Shirer

Toby Wilson | 1 comments Hello my name is Toby Wilson. I am 27 and currently attending school to become a history teacher. My love is military history although I love anything about history. I joined this group so I could find some great history books to read that have been read by fellow books lovers. I already found a great one and have started to read it. The Rising Tide by Jeff Shaara. Thank you for creating this group. It's been great reading some reviews by folks that have read the books.

Dolf Hello I'm Rudolf from The Netherlands. I'll love all kinds of history. I majored in Ancient (Roman) history, but I love to read about all kinds of history. My all time favorite is Robert Caro. His biography of LBJ just blows me away everytime I pick it up.
Currently I'm reading Taubman's bio of Khrushchev.

Oh yeah, I'm 51 years old and work as a librarian.

Keith Michel My name is Keith Michel and I'm a construction worker from Paterson NJ. I enjoy reading mainly about WWII, US presidents and World history. Military leaders are also of great interest as well. Everyone should have a basic knowledge of how our country and World became to be the powers that be and the people that helped shape them.
