Kristin So here's my attempt at an introduction. My name is Kristin and I'm a Presbyterian minister in central Iowa. I was an English and history double mjor in college and I have always loved history. I probably should have been a history professor. My husband says that my most annoying habit is when I correct the inaccuracies in historical documentaries. He wonders why I bother watching them. I'm usually reading or listening to books about some aspect of history so I should be at home here.

Bryan Craig Hi Kristin. You know you are a true history buff if you correct other people. Great story.

Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you are ready to cite a book. (There is a link on the top right of the reply box.) It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the Goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them. When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo and author's link at the very bottom of the post after your text. Because it is on the bottom, it calls the reader's attention to the book/author and increases the readability of your posts.

My name is Shannon Selin and I live in Vancouver, Canada. My father was a history teacher so I grew up immersed in history books and have always been a voracious reader. My current focus is the Napoleonic Wars and their aftermath, as well as early 19th century American history (particularly the 1820s), but I love a good history book about any period. I look forward to the group's discussions and recommendations.

Best regards,

Patrick (pjmpjm) | 1 comments Thanks for the opportunity to introduce myself to this group. I'm an long-time history buff, now retired, living in Australia. Over many years -- since my father began taking me to the local library at age 5 -- I've read a great deal of military history, but now prefer studies of cultural movements. Barbara Tuchman's featured 'Guns of August' is an excellent example of what I love to read. I'm now encouraged to re-read it!

Chris (cdavies1951) | 89 comments Hi, I'm Chris. Love any type of historical fiction, time-travel, alternative, and anything else you can think of. My favorite era is Napoleonic and Regency, but I don't limit myself to that.

I was a history major, so I do look for interesting historical reference, not just the fiction, but I do love a good story, too.

I look forward to to reading with you all.

M. Gary Berg (mgberg) | 1 comments Hi Jill & everyone. My name is M. Gary (go by my middle name). I read everything I can get my eyes on. In particular, History is 1 of my favorite topics. I truly enjoy all authors, especially Ambrose, Atkinson, Foote, Shara (father & son), McCullough, Follete, Liss - to just name a few. I just read Monuments Men, for which I was a bit disappointed. That's it for now, I look forward in the exchange of information, opinions & feedback from this group.

Bryan Craig Welcome Patrick, TH, Mark, M.Gary, and Kim. I'm really happy you joined our group.
