Across a Moonlit Sea (Dante Pirates, #1) by Marsha Canham is a fun historical romance IMO, especially if you like pirates."

Thanks for the rec! I haven't read a pirate romance yet so I'm adding it to my list.

message 853: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments So, I finished On Demon Wings (Experiment in Terror, #5) by Karina Halle and I loved it! I'm off to one of the other EiT threads to post some thoughts.

Did you read The Rake by Suzanne Enoch yet, Kay? That was a fun story.

Lisa | 383 comments Hope you like it Kay (the pirate/romance). I loved it! Romance AND swashbuckling *sigh*.

message 856: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Oh my goodness I was so busy yesterday, I kept wanting to post but I could see my husband just waiting to complain if I started to use my phone too much!

Thank you so much everyone, I agree with ever thing you all said -- it was not appropriate or even just passable as to what happened. The younger police officer looked at the older one like he was crazy when he said what he did. The report was made and we have a friend who is on the force and said it was passed to the juvenile sex offender group and was being analyzed. Thank goodness. I keep being so upset as to how my daughter was terrifed. :(

I finished Dead Sky Morning (Experiment in Terror, #3) by Karina Halle Lying Season (Experiment in Terror, #4) by Karina Halle over the past few days. I just started On Demon Wings (Experiment in Terror, #5) by Karina Halle and I will post more in the other thread -- including my thoughts on the similarities with Fever.

Lori -- isn't Dirty hearbreaking? It is compelling and heartwrenching. I also thought the sex was hot. ;)

message 857: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Ian how are you liking The First Days (As the World Dies, #1) by Rhiannon Frater that is one of my all time favorite series. I don't think Frater is the best at writing but she definitely has some great stories to tell.

message 859: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I cannot read anything else. I have tried, lol. It is going to be so painful when I am done. :((((((

message 860: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Angie, I need to read The Rake. It's been on my list for some time. I'll have to move it up the next time I'm in a historical mood.

i know what you mean. I've been trying to pace myself but having a hard time!

message 862: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments lmao!!! I had the saaaaame problem!

message 863: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) EiT? Oh yeah - painful! That's why I keep checking to see if Come Alive Come Alive (Experiment in Terror, #7) by Karina Halle is listed anywhere, even as a Pre-Order!!!

But I've got plenty on the shelf TBR... not like I have nothing to read. It's just, once I get into Dex & Perry mode, I want to read and read and read about them!!!

Regina - Yes, Dirty broke my heart. But it was redemptive, too. I'd only read the Alex Kennedy series books by Megan Hart, and I wasn't hot on Naked Naked by Megan Hart . But I think that's 'cuz I wasn't really into the main girl. I didn't like Alex with her. I liked Dirty a lot more! AND I was glad that there's a sequel short... reading that now. Gotta love her friend, Marcy, huh? (I don't think I've listed/rated all the books I've read in GR. I'll have to remedy that when I have some time.)

I think next, I need to get back to Suzanne Brockmann's Troubleshooter series... Into The Storm Into the Storm (Troubleshooters, #10) by Suzanne Brockmann is next up for me there.

I also have a few fun Highlander-themed books... so many to choose from, I just have to settle down!

message 864: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 383 comments THAT'S the connection - Fever & EiT - the addiction, the "fever"!! LOL I've got it bad too. Kinda snuck up on me too. So that's what I'm still reading. Lucky me!

D.G. OMG, Regina! I'm just checking some old posts and I cannot believe a cop would make light of this situation! Specially these days when you have the example of that nut in Ohio! Didn't he kidnap those girls by giving them rides?

You should definitely praise Gabriela that she did the right thing. Women should always trust their instincts in these kinds of situations and it's ALWAYS better to be safe than sorry. A few times I've thought people are following me in the streets and I've done all sorts of crazy things like cross the street suddenly or started running . So what if I looked foolish? I'm safe and that's all that counts.

message 867: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments DG you are so right. Yes -- and he did. And one of the girls was his daughter's best friend. :( This is one of the reason's I was absent from blog business this weekend. It has been shattering to all of us.

message 868: by D.G. (new)

D.G. I can only imagine. {{HUGS for you and Gabriela}}

message 869: by Angie (new)

Angie (pinkindle) I'm halfway through True by Erin McCarthy , which I'm really really liking so far. The main character, Rory, reminds me of me! Totally socially awkward, great at math and science, but no people skills whatsoever! I have mixed feelings on Tyler. He's a sexy bad boy with a bad home life, but he smokes. Smoking always turns me off a bit.

I'm glad to hear that, Regina. Unfortunately not all parents educate their children to these dangers, and sometimes even if they do, the poor kids are too overwhelmed or scared to know what to do. I'm so glad your daughter knew enough to stay away.

message 872: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Regina wrote: "An investigator just called me, they are elevating this within the department and sending out an investigator to talk to us."

GOOD! Even if it was a joke on the guy's part, he needs to learn that those kinds of things aren't laughing matters, ever. Not in this day and age. And if he's really a Bad Guy, hope he gets caught before he can terrorize anyone else.

message 873: by Ian (new)

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments Regina wrote: "Ian how are you liking The First Days (As the World Dies, #1) by Rhiannon Frater that is one of my all time favorite series."

I'm liking it...a lot. I actually prefer stories that are pounded out (over books that are polished to a high sheen)...I'm kind of the same with music, I like artists that are a bit rough around the edges.

I think it's nice to have that sense that the author is having great fun writing the book.

I'm also reading

A Lady Risks All by Bronwyn Scott (A Lady Risks All by Bronwyn Scott)...I don't really understand historical romance. I don't know what the rules are, but I get the sense that this book is breaking a bunch of them. Seems like a modern book set in the 19th Century. I'm quite enjoying it, but I'm wondering if it will pass muster with someone who loves the historicals?

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Leea wrote: "Yay Kay! How have you been? I feel like I haven't been around much."

I've been good. You know...just birthday parties and kid tball games. That keeps me busy for the most part! How are you doing?

message 878: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Great! Doing the same... add my BIL wedding and end of the school year parties and that's what i've been doing. Baseball has been a blast this year!!

message 879: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Yes, a blast for us too! It's fun seeing how much the kids have improved since the beginning of the season. Our season ends June 8th then soccer sessions start up a couple of weeks after. These kid activities are never ending but I love it!

message 880: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Yep, never ending. haha! We almost joined the neighborhood swim team but decided against it since we're gone for 2 weeks in June... That would be lessons 4 days a week and then meets. Yikes! Our last baseball game is June 1st, then it's a just swimming and having fun for the rest of summer, which is only 8 weeks. The boys start school July 26th.

Lori (lorimcd) Reading The Sleeping Partner (Sarah Tolerance, #3) by Madeleine E. Robins - The Sleeping Partner, a Sarah Tolerance book, 3rd in the series.

Also got another Magnus Bane Chronicle (The Runaway Queen) The Runaway Queen (The Bane Chronicles, #2) by Cassandra Clare last night, along with another installment in Rebecca's Lost Journals (Inside Out trilogy companion) - Rebecca’s Lost Journals, Volume 4 My Master (INSIDE OUT TRILOGY) by Lisa Renee Jones .

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments I finished Old Blood (Experiment in Terror, #5.5) by Karina Halle and The Dex-Files (Experiment in Terror, #5.7) by Karina Halle . I only have 1 book & novella left to read in this series but I don't want to finish it yet. So, I decided to pick up Need (Want, #2) by Stephanie Lawton . I loved book 1 and book 2 is going okay so far. I'll probably finish this tonight.

message 884: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

message 885: by Ladyhawk (new)

Ladyhawk I finished Old Blood (Experiment in Terror, #5.5) by Karina Halle too and now into The Dex-Files (Experiment in Terror, #5.7) by Karina Halle Dexs' POV is very umm... Entertaining!

And I did start The Serpent's Tale (Mistress of the Art of Death, #2) by Ariana Franklin I love me a medieval story.

message 886: by Ladyhawk (new)

Ladyhawk Just looked up the Bane Chronicles. Didn't even know they existed till just recently. Very cool. And added book 1 of the Sarah Tolerance series.

message 887: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments What's the first book for the Bane Chronicles... I couldn't find a series by that name. Thanks girl!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments What Really Happened in Peru (The Bane Chronicles, #1) by Cassandra Clare is the first. It's a set of short stories. I read the first and it wasn't that big of a deal in connection to TMI/ID, but major fans of Magnus will probably want to read it.

I'm starting Need (Want, #2) by Stephanie Lawton after I get home from my son's senior breakfast in the morning. I hope we get some good closure for Isaac.

Finished The Missing Ink (Tattoo Shop Mystery, #1) by Karen E. Olson and it was cute and quirky, but not really my thing. I liked the characters and setting more than the actual mystery, but I'm not a huge cozy mystery person anyway.

Started The Lost Girl by Sangu Mandanna and I'm really liking it so far.

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Enjoy Dex's POV, Regina!!

Stacia, I finished Need yesterday. Looking forward to hear what you think.

message 891: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Wow, Regina, you are on fire with EiT! Can't wait to hear your thoughts.

Finished The Sleeping Partner - The Sleeping Partner, book #3 Miss Sarah Tolerance... tough books, but really good.

Also finished Rebecca’s Lost Journals, Volume 4 My Master (INSIDE OUT TRILOGY) by Lisa Renee Jones - Rebecca's Lost Journals Volume 4: My Master. These are the short "companion" books to the Inside Out trilogy - the journals that really get Sara going, trying to unravel what happened to Rebecca and entwining herself into Rebecca's world to do so. I'm so going to have to go back and re-read If I Were You (Inside Out Trilogy, #1) by Lisa Renee Jones , the 1st book before the next book Being Me (Inside Out Trilogy, #2) by Lisa Renee Jones comes out in June.

Reading Dating A Cougar (Never Too Late #1) by Donna McDonald (Dating A Cougar) and loving it! It's not at all what I expected... there's steam and all, but it's a very character-centric story. It's serious, but not heavy; I like that it's "light", but feels real.

message 892: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 383 comments Oh good, you're quickly catching up, Regina - yay!

Lori, that Cougar book looks interesting and it's FREE - yippy. Just added it to my kindle.

I'm reading/listening to American Gods by Neil Gaiman and reading Buried Bones (Sarah Booth Delaney, #2) by Carolyn Haines while going thru EiT withdrawals.

message 893: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Ooooh... Neil Gaiman. It's been a long while since I read through Sandman. I even read American Gods, but it was a little freaky for me -at least it was back then, LOL!

Hope you like Dating A Cougar. I'm really liking it. 1st book in a series, but well-written; enough "steam" to keep me interested, but great character development.

Lori, are Rebecca's journals necessary? I have book 2 of Inside Out, but since I wasn't a big fan of the first book, I sort of wanted to skip some of the extra stuff and go right to the second.

American Gods is going to be an HBO show soon. I'd actually planned on reading it before the show. I feel like a slouch for being a Gaiman virgin still. So many of my friends love his work.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments This years free sync audiobooks are about to start up again. They always pair an older book with a newer book, and offer a few popular books, so it's a great deal. Free is good!

These "shorts" that are snippets from Rebecca's journals are extras. I thought they might provide additional clues as to who The Master might be and what happened to Rebecca. But, actually, I think they're more of a tease.

In a way, the journals seem to contradict or walk the line of contradicting what we know from book 1, If I Were You (Inside Out Trilogy, #1) by Lisa Renee Jones . Trying to solve the mystery if a big motivator to me in this series, so... from that perspective, I almost feel like the author is hedging her bets.

So... IMO, they're not necessary. Maybe after the June release of Being Me (Inside Out Trilogy, #2) by Lisa Renee Jones , I'll let you know if I think there's anything "necessary" or really "extra".

message 899: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 159 comments Finished Across a Moonlit Sea (Dante Pirates, #1) by Marsha Canham , which was really good!

Now onto a different genre - Doubleblind (Sirantha Jax, #3) by Ann Aguirre .

message 900: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) American Gods on HBO, huh? To me, that's a freaky story, so I can see them dividing up the chapters into episodes. For how long, I don't know. I have HBO, so I guess I'll give it a watch when it starts up.

Gaiman's definitely not for everyone. I only started reading his books, because I had a friend who was really into him at the time. I dressed up as Gaiman's Death for a Halloween Party (because she's supposed to be cute and Goth - easy costume), and I was surprised at the number of cute guys who knew who I was supposed to be just from wearing her iconic ankh and stuff.
