oh, ok. good deal then =D yeah, it seems like. Tantor needs to speed it up. hehe

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments Unfortunately overdrive seems to only court the big name publishers and rant or is relatively young in the scheme of things

message 1053: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments I finished Fire Inside (Chaos, #2) by Kristen Ashley and it was okay, nothing new in the KA department. They're not as long now that she has a publishing deal and it's cleaned up a bit more but ultimately the alpha males are all the same or at least that how it feel for me, just my humble opinion.

I'm excited because I got an arc of Jeannette Walls new book, The Silver Star by Jeannette Walls . Anyone else grab this from NG? I loved the Glass Castle and I cannot wait to read this new one.

Next up, The Newcomer (Thunder Point #2) by Robyn Carr . I cannot wait to start this tomorrow.

message 1054: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments I'm getting ready to start Biting Cold - i've been meaning to for a while ;)

I got Lingerie Wars via netgalley since Ian was talking about it - but going to hold off until the first because I can fit it in a challenge

Cherise Sinclair's new book also comes out tomorrow - This Is Who I Am

message 1055: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 159 comments Also reading Heart of a Lion by Hillary Fields - I just keep adding books to my currently reading. It can't be helped I guess :/

message 1056: by Ian (new)

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments Just started Them Bones by Carolyn Haines (series recommended by Lisa).

Them Bones (Sarah Booth Delaney, #1) by Carolyn Haines

message 1058: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments I finished reading One Perfect Summer by Paige Toon and One Perfect Christmas by Paige Toon which were okay.

I ended up grabbing Lingerie Wars (Invertary, book one) by Janet Elizabeth Henderson from Netgalley. Not sure when I'll get to it but hopefully soon.

message 1059: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I started The Newcomer (Thunderpoint #2) by Robyn Carr (for some reason it isn't turning up in the add book search.

And I also started Devil's Punch (Corine Solomon, #4) by Ann Aguirre - - I just finished Forbidden Fruit (Corinne Solomon #3.5) by Ann Aguirre (also not turning up!). I loved it so I wanted to dive back into the series.

message 1060: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments I think goodreads is having problems with its search function, Regina. You can search by author and then look for the book to add to your comment.

message 1061: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I am glad it isn't only me!

The weird thing is that I did a search by author and they still were coming up.

message 1062: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Weird. Goodreads and their glitches.

message 1063: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments You are so right. I also can't comment on a review/currently reading by Leea -- our buddy read. So I guess i'll be back later.

Leea I am about 5% in. I am not completely pulled in yet, but I hope to be soon. I hope we don't go the entire book (view spoiler)

message 1064: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Same here Regina, i'm farther, 13% and there is this building feeling still. Like something is coming but we're getting the groundwork for the story and it's odd. Just not how I remember Carr writing in the past.

About your spoiler(view spoiler)

message 1065: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Got this gorgeous book off NG - One Step too Far by Tina Seskis (can't find it on GR though). Loved it! It's about this woman running from some traumatic event who leaves her family to start again. Read it in one sitting.

message 1066: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Kay, love the new picture!!

message 1067: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Oh I do to -- love it Kay!

Leea, I agree. It isn't pulling me in -- so much building. I am glad you feel the same way. Yeah, roadblocks just so there are roadblocks.

So cool Tellulah, I think it is because the search function on GR isn't working right now.

For those of you that have read Sins & Needles by Karina Halle (Stacia ...) should I read the book first or the pre-quel? I know that sounds dumb, but you know how some pre-quels are written after the book and are actually better to read after you read the book .... (if I am making any sense ....)

message 1068: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments yeah, you're not alone. It seems like Newcomer starts off right after the first book or maybe a month after and everyone is too comfortable in their relationship. There's not passion right now... or at least it doesn't feel that way to me. ha! Like Mac and Gina - they've waited so long to be together - hello!!

I plan on reading the first prequal before starting our June group read. I think Stacia suggested that or maybe it was someone else. I believe it's 100 pages long...

message 1069: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments THanks, I'll do that too (re Sins & Needles).

Yes, no passion just comfortableness. Hmm, I hope it gets better!

message 1070: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments I think it will. Something is building and Carr hasn't let me down yet :)

Let me know when you want to start the short (Sins and Needles prequel)

message 1073: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Thanks Leea and Regina!

I can't wait to read Sins and Needles too. When in June is the group read? I would love to join in on the prequel with you guys.

message 1074: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I think Angie would too. Let me know when is good for you all.

message 1075: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments The group read is over the course of June, at your leisure. We can all try to organize together, though with our Cut & Run read on Friday and then starting Under the Dome on the 3rd, and then a scheduled read of How to Kill a Rock Star on the 22nd, lol. I'd have to fit it in that week after Under the Dome.

message 1076: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments So in the Susan Ee Q&A she announced the following about Angelfall's sequel:

I'll announce the title for book 2 this week on my blog! The book is finished and in the hands of the publisher! Whoo-hoo! I will let you guys know the actual date of publication when I find out (next few weeks).

YAY!!!

message 1077: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments I might be able to start On Every Street before friday, it's 100 pages. Maybe once i'm done with Newcomer?

That's fantastic news about book #2 in the Angelfall series, we've been waiting a long time, Cant wait!

message 1078: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Dee - I'm so happy you told me about the latest Club Shadowlands book This Is Who I Am (Masters of the Shadowlands, #7) by Cherise Sinclair !!! I had no idea it was out!

Amazon seems to be having search issues, too. I tried to look up the book (This Is Who I Am), and couldn't find it. Through a very roundabout way, I finally stumbled on it. I don't mind purchasing books from other sources than Amazon, but the formatting isn't always that great when I do.

Is Angelfall (Penryn & the End of Days, #1) by Susan Ee good? I picked it up as a bargain ebook - I got an Amazon credit for buying a book recently, and so they offered that one to me for a bargain price (which I can't remember)....

Lingerie Wars Lingerie Wars (Invertary, book one) by Janet Elizabeth Henderson - I'm not on Netgalley and don't have access to ARCs, so I guess I'll wait for that one to come out. It's releasing soon anyway, right?

message 1079: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Sign up Lori, it's a read now book.

message 1080: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Lori & Dee, do you like the shadowlands books? I know a lot of people do... Not sure why i've been reluctant to read them.

message 1081: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Leea, I do like the Club Shadowlands books. Some are hit and miss, but overall, yes. I like them. I must, I read the next one whenever it's available - LOL!

Heading off to see what I need to do on Netgalley...

message 1082: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I have read the first 3-4 of Shadowlands and while I liked the character interactions and who the characters were themselves, I just can't get into the always submissiveness and always using the toys, etc. I do like some rough edges in relationships and the love scenes (clearly - -as I am a fan of Cara McKenna), I just found little in Club Shadowlands to be romantic.

message 1084: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Lori...I loved Angelfall. You got to read it!! I will be re-reading it before book 2 comes out.

message 1085: by Dee (new)

I think I might faint if you read HTKARS!

Oh, oh, oh, I'm very excited to hear any new Angelfall news too!

It's weird to come back to GR after a couple days and have so much to catch up on. I feel like I'm still not unwound yet though. Most of my morning was spent cleaning up party stuff from yesterday.

I did finish To Sin With a Viking and loved it. If there hadn't been one scene that pissed me off, I would have given it 5 stars, but them's the breaks. I still really enjoyed it though. In some ways, I thought it showed more of the Viking culture than the other books we read did, and parts of it I liked more than Dream of Me. The "captive" part of the story was very interesting.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments Kay wrote: "Lori...I loved Angelfall. You got to read it!! I will be re-reading it before book 2 comes out."

Same. Angelfall is definitely going to be a re-read before book 2.

message 1089: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Me too.

message 1090: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Same here... Can't wait!

Stacia, glad you're back! I also grabbed To Sin with a Viking (Forbidden Vikings, #1) by Michelle Willingham , per your recommendation.

Oh parties... so much fun but SO much work. I hope you can rest now.

message 1091: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 383 comments Wow, I'm a bit behind on these posts. Leea, hope your BIL's wedding Sat. went smoothly and you had a blast. I'll be going to Calif. in a few weeks for my niece's wedding. Can't wait. I'm lucky to live far enough away not to be involved in any planning, etc. Just last minute help the day before :)

I've been reading the Sarah Booth Delaney series and up to book #7 now Ham Bones (Sarah Booth Delaney, #7) by Carolyn Haines I'm really liking this series for the Southern humor, the fun characters and Sarah Booth's love life. I like how Carolyn Haines inserts Mississippi topics like segregation, racism, Blues music, Southern history, with a light hand, not shoving beliefs down a readers' throat. I can almost feel the heat and humidity while reading and the worse part is the craving for Southern food, like grits or catfish! LOL

Ian, how are you liking Them Bones?

message 1092: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 383 comments Oh, meant to say that I've read Angelfall also and loved it. Can't wait for book #2!! Glad to read of some progress made YAY!

I agree with you, Leea. I think KA writes the same man again and again. Usually I am drawn to characters in a book, and I am with hers, but I am more drawn to her plots. Luckily most of her female charcters are likable, too, so that helps!

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments Did someone post something here about a 'netflix for audiobooks?' I'm wondering if someone could tell me the name of the company. I'd like to join.

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments Lisa wrote: "Ian, how are you liking Them Bones? "

I couldn't work it out at first...I've actually read another book by the same author which I had completely forgotten. Shop Talk was like being hit over the head with a rubber chicken. It stings and you want it to stop but it's just so funny so you suck it up and read on.

Now I know where the author is coming from I'm getting into it.

its called Booksfree.com - and its a subscription service - you can choose 1 book out at a time or 2 - i think that they also offer print books - I was lucky in that the hub was right by me, so I would get my books like the day after they were shipped

message 1097: by Angie Elle, BaBAMB!!! (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments Oh, I thought it was electronic! Thank you for your help, Dee! :)

message 1098: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 383 comments Ian - I got more into the series after reading the 2nd book, I think - that's usually how it is with me. I've read Haines' Fever Moon by Carolyn Haines before and liked it because of the subject - a Cajun werewolf terrorizing the south. Shop Talk looks good - just added it to my list. Thanks!

its more like the netflix when you get the DVD's sent to you...there is supposedly a streamming one out there - but i've never used it and wouldn't feel right in recommending it
