Ah well. I'll just take my chances then. I'd hoped to read Being Me before the release.

I liked Across a Moonlit Sea also but haven't read the other 2 in the series yet. Do you plan to read on? Her Highlander books and Robin Hood series look good.

How does that program work, Stacia? I see that it's powered by Overdrive, like my digital library uses. Is it a loaning library?

message 904: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 159 comments Lisa - I might read on actually, but they wouldn't be my priority. I have read the first book in the Highland series and it was pretty good though I really can't remember much about it....Apparently, I gave it 5 stars! I wouldn't mind reading her Robin Hood series. Looks good to me, too.

message 905: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 383 comments American Gods on HBO?! I hadn't heard that. Says no less than 6 seasons with 10-12 eps each. Wow.

I just read that Gaiman collaborated on a current Dr. Who ep called 'The Doctor's Wife'.

I've read the first book and journal 1. I liked it but I wasn't overjoyed by Rebecca's first journal. I still want to continue with the series though :)

What is American Gods?

message 908: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 383 comments American Gods by Neil Gaiman by Neil Gaiman. I've only just started it and it's kinda bizarre so far but I'm liking it. The audio has a full cast and I really like Shadow's voice.

message 909: by Samantha (new)

Samantha | 419 comments Thanks Lisa. I have yo check it out. Maybe my library has the audio :)

message 910: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Sirantha Jax is one of my favorite series, enjoy. ;)

I keep meaning to read Neil Gailman, but I just haven't yet.

I am plowing through EiT. I am loving it. I thought Old Blood was informative, but I didn't like it as much as the others. I am excited to be starting In the Hollows and eeek - what will I read next?!!

Gah what an exhausting week.

message 911: by Samantha (new)

Samantha | 419 comments OMG. I still haven't got to book two of EiT. I'm slipping.

message 912: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Book 2 is so good -- you need to!

message 913: by Samantha (new)

Samantha | 419 comments I'll try to get to it this weekend since I have an extra day :)

message 914: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments apparently Neil Gaiman owns his own audiobook production company - and is picking up the rights to various lesser known fantasy/sci-fi books - i'm listening to The Privilege of the Sword which was done by his company and he has a cameo in it...he did the intro to the book and I was hooked

message 915: by Samantha (new)

Samantha | 419 comments That's interesting. Thanks for the info, Dee.

Interesting. I heard he is great as a narrator.

message 917: by Ladyhawk (new)

Ladyhawk Lisa I thought you were the one going onto a new genre... Doubleblind (Sirantha Jax, #3) by Ann Aguirre , but you were responding to Courtney. I was genuinely surprised there for a moment. Lol. But I added it to my tbr list.

Across a Moonlit Sea sounded sooo familiar. Then I noticed I do have a kindle version. Many nice book suggestions here today.

message 918: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Across a Moonlit Sea is awesome. Loved that book!

I'm stuck reading the same two books that I've been reading for a while...sigh...at least I'll be off for the almost a week so that I'll give some time to finish some books.

I'll also be going to the Bloggers conference at the BEA next week. So excited!

message 919: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments So fun DG! Let us know how it goes. Are you going in person? I say move on. I may be dnfing Another Little Piece by Kate Karyus Quinn -- I just don't want to go back to it.

I am loving Into the Hollow (Experiment in Terror, #6) by Karina Halle - -damn I want a pre-order available for #7 in this series. I can't wait for it to be released!

What I am going to read when I am done with this book?!! (likely tonight)

message 920: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I just saw the publishing date DG for that book, did it feel dated? I love reading older classics and literary fiction, but I often find that genre ficton feels dated when it is more than 10 years old. Did it have that feel?

message 921: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Just finished Insatiable (Insatiable, #1) by Meg Cabot Not bad, not great.

message 922: by D.G. (last edited May 23, 2013 09:29AM) (new)

D.G. Do you mean Across a Moonlit Sea? It's a pirate story set in the 16th century so it doesn't feel dated at all. :)

The heroine is not your typical lady hiding in a ship (groan) but she has grown up in one and actually has an important job there. She's strong but not in an annoying way. I think the author stroke the right note: the heroine is respected as an important contributor on the ship but she's not a man hater or anything of the kind.

message 924: by Leea, Escape Artist (last edited May 23, 2013 09:49PM) (new)

Leea | 1437 comments How fun DG!!! I still haven't been to an author signing yet. Need to do that.

I started True Love by Jude Deveraux it's an arc but I'm struggling already at 7%... They keep dropping brand names. Like, "she grabbed her fendi bag." Barf!!! I keep thinking of that old school Will Smith song "a fendi bag and a bad attitude" lmao!!

I'm in Sacramento to doing flowers for my soon to be sil's wedding Saturday.

message 925: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Have fun, DG! where is BEA located at? I really want to go to a signing where there are tons of authors to meet. that's on my list to do one day.

I just finished Lily of the Springs by Carole Bellacera . It's women's fiction and I enjoyed it.

Not sure what to read next. I gotta go volunteer in my son's class this morning. So, hopefully when I'm done, I will know what my mood wants to read.

message 926: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) I needed something "light" and fantasy... not sure if it fits the bill, bur reading The Iron Druid Chronicles. I worked my way through Grimoire of The Lamb The Grimoire of the Lamb (The Iron Druid Chronicles, #0.4) by Kevin Hearne , Clan Rathskeller Clan Rathskeller (The Iron Druid Chronicles, #0.5) by Kevin Hearne , and Kaibob Unbound Kaibab Unbound (The Iron Druid Chronicles , #0.6) by Kevin Hearne and am in the middle of Hounded Hounded (The Iron Druid Chronicles, #1) by Kevin Hearne now.

message 927: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 383 comments Lori, I've read all of the Iron Druid Chronicles except for the latest, Grimoire of the Lamb. Did you like it? I like them best on audio because Oberon cracks me up.

DG, hope you have fun. Is this your first blogger's conference? For some reason I'm thinking of Let's Pretend This Never Happened A Mostly True Memoir by Jenny Lawson and what she says about the conference she attended. Cracked me up!

message 931: by Courtney (last edited May 23, 2013 01:35PM) (new)

Courtney | 159 comments I "accidentally" bought another free ebook on my Kindle app for my phone and it was nice and short! A cute story. Truth or Date by Susan Hatler

Continuing on with Doubleblind (Sirantha Jax, #3) by Ann Aguirre though. It's sad that I've moved on (view spoiler)

message 932: by Laura (new)

Laura | 15 comments Has anyone read Gabriel's Inferno (Gabriel's Inferno, #1) by Sylvain Reynard ? Please tell me it gets better, I'm about 35% in and I keep waiting for something to just grab me.

Sorry I've been so out of the loop ladies, my mother passed away last month, it hasn't been easy. I've been in and out of here since, trying to distract myself through reading.

message 933: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments I am so sorry, Laura! I know she was sick for awhile...so sad to hear the sad news. Sending you hugs and prayers!

message 934: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments As for Gabriel's Inferno, I liked it but didn't love it. It's a trilogy and I haven't read past book one so I don't know if it will get better.

Let me know if you make it to Iron Druid book 5 any time in the near future and want to buddy read. I've had it on my Kindle since the pre-release days and never got around to reading it.

I like different, so I have the feeling that Gaiman and I will be a good match. I can handle freaky.

Lisa | 383 comments I just finished a cozy Southern mystery with some romance Buried Bones (Sarah Booth Delaney, #2) by Carolyn Haines and really liked it, as I did book 1 in that series. Now I'm starting #3 Splintered Bones (Sarah Booth Delaney, #3) by Carolyn Haines . I love the humor and the Southern charm of these books.

message 944: by Ian (new)

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments @Lisa what was the book? I love books with Southern Belles...I'm reading the latest Dixie Divas book by Virginia Brown ATM ... pretty good fun.

message 945: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 383 comments Oh, forgot to mention the first book of the series is Them Bones (Sarah Booth Delaney, #1) by Carolyn Haines . There's like 12 books in the series with the most recent released the other day. The Dixie Divas look good. Just added it to my amazon wish list :) Hey Virginia Brown is the name of my best friend in 6th gr! Will be easy for me to remember.

Leea | 1437 comments I may start reading World War Z An Oral History of the Zombie War by Max Brooks , has anyone read it yet?

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments I had planned on reading it in June, but probably closer to the movie release date at the end of the month because we'll probably go on opening weekend, since my husband is really looking forward to the movie.

Kenzlei wrote: "The Wild Ones"

Welcome to the group. :)

I finished Need (Want, #2) by Stephanie Lawton and had mixed feelings. I'm grateful that the author listened to the fans and wrote this book for closure, but I don't think it had the same appeal/charm as book 1.

Kay, did you think (view spoiler)
