Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Whatever you like. :) I will start commenting on your review and we can see how that works out! Haha, Karina Halle is brilliant in dragging out this tension.

Cool! And yes, she really is. :)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments I just finished Naked (The Blackstone Affair, #1) by Raine Miller , and I am now moving on to my comfort read On Dublin Street (On Dublin Street, #1) by Samantha Young .

message 804: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I just started Dead Sky Morning (Experiment in Terror, #3) by Karina Halle last night after a bunch of stuff we had. I was so tired I fell asleep before I got far. Now I am off to several games and then I have to work soccer registration. I think I have to take my young girls on a picnic later today, so I am hoping to find time to read before bed time - but likely not!

I loved what of Dead Sky Morning I read. I just hope she starts to mature and deal with her parents better.

Have a good Saturday.

message 805: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) I finished Dead Sky Morning (Experiment in Terror, #3) by Karina Halle because unlike Regina who sounds like a great mom, I ignored my child, encouraging her to play Wii so I could read. :) But I feel like if there is anywhere I can make these admissions, it's here.

Book 3 blew it off the charts for me!

message 806: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Me too, Tellulah! It's a game changer.

I finished Believe in Me, I hated this book. I mean, towards the end I skimming like crazy. Seriously was this written by a different author? I mean, it's missing the spark that Wolf and Cymbra's story had. I do have hope for Dragon's book but I may wait a bit to read it.

Dead Sky Morning was the one that really hooked me too. I liked Red Fox a lot, but hooo doggy, Dead Sky Morning was good!

message 808: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 383 comments LOL - there's EiT talk over on this board too! Hey, can I crash? I'm loving that series more & more with each book. Dead Sky was so scary - loved it! Tellulah - cracked me up with your mom comment. If only we had Wii's back when my kids were little. I had to rely on VHS Disney movies or recorded Sesame Street eps and that only worked for my daughter, not my short-attention son LOL.

Leea - I felt the same way about Believe in Me! It dragged on and on, didn't it? I'm hoping Dragon will be more like Wolf and perhaps since he's a Viking, it will be better? I hope, but like you, not ready to start it.

message 809: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Lying Season (Experiment in Terror, #4) by Karina Halle - I am incapable of speech. That's how it ends?! Killing me!

message 810: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments LOL! Yep! Rips your guts out, doesn't it?

message 811: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Jump on the EiT crazy train Lisa, you're always welcome :)

Tellulah - Word sister!! Keep reading... Yeah, me and Wendy had a lot of ranting after that ending.

message 812: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Regina, I hope you get a chance to read book 3 tonight! Then just roll right into book 4. :)

message 813: by Lisa (new)

I am too! I am only at 38% or so -- they are on the ferry to the island. But darn it -- these kids want to play Harry Potter clue. We had to call the police because my 13 year old had an older guy try to get her into his car -- crazy day.

message 815: by Ladyhawk (last edited May 18, 2013 07:04PM) (new)

Ladyhawk Loving all the EiT comments! Lisa... Knew you'd get hooked too! Ha! I finished Old Blood last night. I liked it. I'll post my comments on the EiT thread.
O, saving my Dex N Perry reads for a bit.
I started The Serpent's Tale been trying to read this for about a year now. I love the medieval setting.

I'm disappointed to hear about Believe in Me. It's here at my bedside. But i just was not motivated at the moment to read it.

Thank God she is safe, Regina!

message 817: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 383 comments Ladyhawk - I can't believe EiT isn't too scary for you ;) Look forward to your posts on that thread.

Regina - OMG! Glad your daughter is all right - talk about scary! Hope the police find the creep and get him off the streets.

message 818: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments How scary Regina! I'm glad she's okay!

message 819: by Ladyhawk (new)

Ladyhawk What Regina??! I'm so glad your daughter is safe!! Did you all hear about the mom in Albuquerque who went chasing after a guy who pulled her 4/5 year old daughter into his car? Some teens in the area saw it happen and ran to tell her, she grabbed her keys and cell phone and went after him, giving 911 details of the chase till he finally stopped and ran off! He later turned himself in after a massive manhunt for him. Omg, so disturbing!!

message 820: by Ladyhawk (new)

Ladyhawk Lisa, it is scary for me!! The Dex and Perry factor is the only reason I keep reading. It's been described as more creepy than scary, so maybe that's why I can hang! Lol!

message 821: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments There some crazy ass people out there. It freaks me out to even think about it especially after all that stuff on the news about those 3 women in Cleveland. I'm so glad your daughter is safe, Regina. Did the police catch the guy?

message 825: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) I want Maximus to go away now.

message 826: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Yeah, he's not a favorite of mine. Plus there is something to Maximus... I wonder who he really is. Tellulah, have you read Old Blood yet?

message 827: by Ian (last edited May 18, 2013 09:41PM) (new)

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments I don't read that many historical romances...to be honest I've tried one Lisa Kleypas (DNF) and I read The Dukes Tattoo by Miranda Davis (much love for that book).
Anyway, I just started A Lady Risks All by Bronwyn Scott....so far I'm enjoying it a lot.

I also started The First Days by Rhiannon Frater...not sure if that one will be anything romance, but it was recommended by Stacia so I'll probably enjoy it and be slightly disturbed at the same time.

A Lady Risks All by Bronwyn Scott The First Days (As the World Dies, #1) by Rhiannon Frater

Just finished Demonic Dora by Claire Chilton which had some good moments but lost it's way every now and then...and All You Need is Love by Cathy Tully which honestly was a bit painful.

Demonic Dora by Claire Chilton All You Need is Love by Cathy Tully

message 828: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Ian, As the Wold dies is one of my favorite series... Stacia always recommends great books :) There is a romance or a few but it builds and it's not to focus of the series. I miss Jenni & Katie those girls rock!

I just finished On Demon Wings (Experiment in Terror, #5) by Karina Halle and didn't love it. But am I supposed to read some shorts or something now before book 6?

message 831: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Yeah Old Bood and Dex files. Be prepared Old Blood is not funny & quirky. It's the story of Crazy Clown Lady aka Pippa. A lot of unanswered questions are touched on. Total must read.

message 832: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments Definitely a Must Read, and so is The Dex-Files, both of them can't be skipped.

I wasn't a big fan of On Demon's Wing either. It was the lowest rated book for me.

message 833: by Angie Elle, BaBAMB!!! (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments I'm reading A Moment (Moments, #1) by Marie Hall . The story is good, but it's taking me a bit to adjust to her writing style.

message 834: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments I'm back to reading Game (Jasper Dent, #2) by Barry Lyga ... Finally in the mood to read it. So far I'm 10% in and it's got the same uneasy humor that was found in I hunt Killers.

message 835: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I am sorry for not coming back. We have a ton of stuff today and last night I pretty much was offline playing clue with the family.

They took the information, two police officers came. In the end the older police officer said he thought it was just some guy thinking she was cute. Ugh. But he did come back form that and say -- but it was wrong, he made her uncomfortable. And that they would give the information to the juvenile group who would analyze other reports and determine if it was a pattern.

Thank you for your support. Gabriela was still terrified about it this morning. I come down on three things. First, she is a child and looks like she is under 16 so an adult doing this is wrong. Second, even if he thought she was cute -- this is a horrible way (but I am sure most of us can relate) to being introduced to sexual politics and how many men thing it is acceptable to approach females. Third, it was terrifying for her -- and she felt something was OFF. She thought she would never see us again. That is what is going through her mind so I trust her instincts and think it was more than a casual thing. He approached them 3-4X and followed them for almost 2 blocks and kept telling them to get in the car. She deals with boys flirting with her and asking her out already and felt this was very different. She is still shaken up.

message 836: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I finished Dead Sky Morning and loved it. Anyone are similarities with the Fever series? I are a ton. But ladies I loved this book. I have already started #4.

message 837: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Oh god! That's a nightmare. I'm so glad she followed her Instincts and didn't get in the car. I also hope they find this man because I would bet anything this isn't the first time he's done this.

I bet she's scared, poor thing! I'm a firm believer that kids should get to be kids. Her having to deal with this really makes me Mad.

message 838: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 383 comments Regina - those cops are terrible! I would've been so mad and lost my cool with them - probably get arrested. I can only imagine what you and Gabriela are going thru. Thank gawd, she followed her instincts and that she told you what happened. Yeah, she may be shaken up for awhile, poor thing. It was good that you had a mellow family game night, trying to normalize things for her.

Right now, I'm reading Old Blood (Experiment in Terror, #5.5) by Karina Halle after finishing On Demon Wings last night. It's coming all together, well, mostly.

I agree. It really angers me in general that girls are getting sexualized in our society younger and younger - not because they're necessarily doing anything or their parents are trying to age them up (although the Toddlers and Tiaras bunch have a lot to answer for IMHO) but just with media in general. And that impacts in an awful way for many guys on how they then see females. As the mother of a tween girl, I look at all there is to steer her safely through and sometimes feel hugely overwhelmed and anxious.

Anyhow, good for your daughter Regina, for trusting her instincts and I hope all your love and support gets her through this just fine! Hugs to you.

message 840: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments What a HORRIBLE thing for a cop to say! It's almost like he was making light of it! Perhaps he thought by downplaying it could make Gabriela less afraid? I hate to think he really could have been that much of an idiot...

message 841: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments Interesting that you saw similarities between EiT and Fever. I never picked up on that. In what ways?

message 842: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 383 comments That was the only thing I could think of also, Wendy, for the cop to downplay the ordeal. But still.

I missed any similarities between Fever and Eit. What - the magnetic draw/pull thing? OH, the evil thing?

message 843: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 383 comments Leea wrote: "Yeah, he's not a favorite of mine. Plus there is something to Maximus... I wonder who he really is. Tellulah, have you read Old Blood yet?"

Yeah, what IS IT about Max? I was feeling that too...something about him ain't sitting right...

message 844: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Regina, SO SORRY to hear about your daughter's terror. And the cop saying what he did? I don't care if he did try to make up for it, he's WRONG. It's NEVER OK... and blowing it off? That's what the cops did to people who tried to report strange things in that neighborhood where that Ariel guy kidnapped and kept those 3 girls. UGH!

message 845: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) EiT - it's SO ADDICTING, isn't it? On Demon Wings On Demon Wings (Experiment in Terror, #5) by Karina Halle - I really hate that book - LOL - because it was so difficult to read. And while I knew what was going on, the only person I could manage to like until the end was Ada.

Old Blood (Experiment in Terror, #5.5) by Karina Halle and The Dex-Files (Experiment in Terror, #5.7) by Karina Halle are very necessary. You won't get the full picture up to that point of Dex or Perry or what the heck is going on without reading them. But yes, I found them as sad as I did enlightening.

MAX.... well, if you're ready, jump into the EiT thread. There's some spoiler thoughts in there from me & Wendy and Leea... I did my best to tag what you need to read before jumping in to read the spoiler.

Kay, did you ever get to Into the Hollow (Experiment in Terror, #6) by Karina Halle ?

Believe in Me - Leea, I'm with you. I skimmed a bit at the end. It didn't seem like the same writer at all. OR maybe she was trying to please a certain audience or editor? I confess, I will read Dragon's story, though, because I have it. And I'm hoping the Viking elements will save the story.

Dirty by Megan Hart - this book is breaking my heart! It's hot and the steam is really good... this 'relationship' is unique in a good way.

I do think the counting her "number" is tied to her counting thing. She said that she doesn't think when she counts, has sex, or drinks. So... I'm thinking that's her way of not thinking and yet still punishing herself. I'm 60% through the book. It's taken me awhile though, mostly because I just find it such a sad book. I wonder about Gavin, too....

The cover just cracks me up, though. Like a Georgia O'Keefe painting!

message 846: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Lori...I haven't gotten that far yet. I just barely started On Demon Wings (Experiment in Terror, #5) by Karina Halle yesterday. So far, I am not hating it. I know many of you disliked it. So, where are we discussing these books? hahah...so many threads to choose from.

I finished A Lady by Midnight (Spindle Cove, #3) by Tessa Dare yesterday and it was okay. I would like to find a fun historical but it's been hard lately.

message 847: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 383 comments Kay, I liked On Demon Wings :)

Across a Moonlit Sea (Dante Pirates, #1) by Marsha Canham is a fun historical romance IMO, especially if you like pirates.

Seriously he should be fired for saying that. Completely inappropriate. If a man tries to get a 13 year old girl into his car that's criminal behavior. You should really report the officer to his superiors. I don't want to scare you but that takes balls and I wouldn't want someone like that thinking he had gotten away with it and getting bolder.

message 849: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments I agree with Ian. It was completely inappropriate and he should definitely be reported.

message 850: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments Kay, you can come on into here to discuss EiT:
http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...

I'm going to change the Buddy read thread title and we can just take the conversation on into the main thread for this series, if that's okay with everyone.
