Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Exactly DG. I think so far in what I have read Megan Hart does this well. So does Cara McKenna.

message 752: by D.G. (new)

D.G. I haven't read either of them but have a couple of their books. I should move them up the TBR!

message 753: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Really liked Gameboard of the Gods (Age of X, #1) by Richelle Mead

message 754: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments I finished up Dirty while waiting for my meeting that got delayed for an hour - I think 4 stars but I need to ponder

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments Had to stop at a bookstore to grab something for the commute home - picked up Video Kill and Wind Chime Point

message 756: by D.G. (new)

Nice! I know that a few people struggled with the start but I heard the second half is good, so I'm looking forward to it.

message 758: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments I'm having a hard time with Believe in Me... I like it but it's just drawing everything out. I liked how the connection was formed quickly between Wolf and Cymbra. I'm about 67% and I know (view spoiler)

message 759: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I want to return to Gameboard. Maybe next.

I am really liking Dirty but I am only 40% in. The sex is really really hot. Right now it is 4 stars for me. I am curious to know why she is so cold and distant. I have some ideas as to why.

And I am home!! Such a relief.

message 760: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments The end was a bit ehhh for me

message 761: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Oh that is dissapointing!

message 762: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments For me, it wasn't as emotional as broken - I figured this ending out abt halfway thru

message 763: by Angie Elle, BaBAMB!!! (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments I'm reading Naked.

message 764: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Glad you're home Regina!!

message 765: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Thanks Leea. :)

message 766: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments I finished reading Days Like This (Jackson Falls, #3) by Laurie Breton and Fearless (Elemental, #1.5) by Brigid Kemmerer . Not sure what to read next.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments Finished Dead of Eve (Trilogy of Eve, #1) by Pam Godwin and uh...whoa. It was crazy entertaining but I took a cue from my buddy read friend and decided to review without awarding a star rating. There were some serious hot button issues going on. It was definitely a trippy concept though and I was glued to the pages. And Roark was smoking hot. The Irish brogue...yum.

message 768: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments Ummm ok eve and route and Irish brought - the author channeling the in death books a bit - ditto with at least one of you hot button topics

Am I imagining this -- is that a play on the Death series by JD Robb? The characters names are the same - including Roarke's origins.

Tellulah wrote: "Really liked Gameboard of the Gods (Age of X, #1) by Richelle Mead"

Tellulah I liked the beginning 15% but then it dragged for me a little bit, did you have that experience? I want to pick it up again.

Oh just saw this. I guess so!

message 771: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I can't stop thinking about Dirty by Megan Hart I have so much to read but I want to read something else by her right now. I am going to try and pace myself.

Thanks Dee for suggesting to read it, I am so glad I did. Elle was a character that will stick with me for awhile.

message 772: by D.G. (new)

D.G. I'm reading 2 500+ pg books at the same time and it seems as if I'm moving at a snail's pace!

One of them is from a series I really like that for some reason I've neglected for 3 years: Revelation, a historical mystery set in Tudor England. Frightening stuff though.

message 773: by Latoya (new)

Latoya | 31 comments I finished "The Duke and I" by Julia Quinn, last night. It was a good read. I enjoyed the main characters. There was not that much drama between them though.

For me, it didn't drag until the end, where I felt it got very info dumpy.

message 775: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Read Red Fox (Experiment in Terror, #2) by Karina Halle - yeah, starting to get the Perry & Dex love now.

I haven't read many Hart books but Dirty is one of the better ones that I enjoyed. I'd be curious to see how you'd feel/think about Broken.

Well, I was going to start it this weekend. But if you wanted to do a buddy read (I've never done one) I'd love to read it with you. :)

I'd love to -- tonight?

message 782: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments 79% into Believe in Me and I hope this picks up. lol! We're going to a baseball game tonight so I wont have much time to read but I want to finish it and be done. I cannot believe how different these two books are. I guess I just like the Viking lifestyle more.

message 783: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Hey Regina, I got approved for The Newcomer (Thunder Point #2) by Robyn Carr when did you want to read it? We're taking our 14 day trip starting on June 4th... I wouldn't mind reading it while in Oregon. haha!

message 784: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Oh cool!! That would be the perfect setting. Do you want to start it 6/4?

message 785: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

I loved Broken - my main issue with dirty was that while it was written a while ago it has what now seems to be a common thing in new adult fiction and sobi figured it out really early on - does that make sense?

message 787: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments It makes sense. I think that she addressed the after affect and trauma really well though.

message 788: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments I do - but I dunno...lol

message 789: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments I think because to me there is the implication/perception that it was those events that resulted in her behavior...

message 790: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments You guys have me intrigued with Dirty, I have most of her books. I should read them. haha!

message 791: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Yes. I had that problem at first. But then the more I thought about it, the behavior was the fear of intimacy and that was caused by the incident not promiscuity. She seemed to be very sexual by nature and at one point she said her love of sex was natural and not stolen by why what happened. So that is how I saw it. :)

message 794: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I guess it wasn't shocking to me because I knew people who were similarly active. And (view spoiler)

message 795: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments but she was counting, so what does that say...that maybe she knew something wasn't right...I dunno...the psychologist in me is thinking overtime about it

message 796: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I hear you. You mean counting when she got stressed or always counting?

message 797: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments the counting how many she had slept with...although, she def. had a touch of OCD so it doesn't surprise me - I dunno...its thought-provoking if nothing else

message 798: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Ah. I think b/c she was an accountant and so into numbers. It was thought provoking and like you said earlier, I loved the portrayal of someone who loved sex and drinking -- and wanted a career and was not feeling bad for that.

I did. It was okay. The ghost part was good but I got all sexy expectation about the two of them in a hotel. :)

I'm going to go have my apres dinner espresso and start book 3. Do we message each other to chat about it? Or just chat here?
