Hi everyone, I'm pretty new to Goodreads and this is only the third group I've joined. Just like to say hello and introduced myself. I am firstly a mother of three and secondly an aspiring author and thirdly an obsessed reader and mysteries and thrillers are up there with my favourite genres (I love horror too). Stephen King is my favourite author and I own/have read almost all his books. Can’t wait for Finders Keepers to come out. I’m looking forward to meeting some new people here on Goodreads and also would like to ask everyone, what do you love to read and what are you looking to get out of a book? Thanks for having me and I hope to hear back from some of you soon
Welcome, welcome, welcome to all the new members!!! We are so happy to have you here with us! I do not want to say each name for fear of leaving someone out! I hope y'all have a wonderful time here! Participate in the discussions, games, and challenges or activities. Forget how shy you are, we are a happy and welcoming group and just want to get to know you! Be sure to check out the Book Pals. It is a great way to get to know other members of the group one-on-one, while taking down that TBR list that is ever growing! If you have any questions, do not hesitate to PM me! I am here to help and am glad to do so! Welcome once again!
Hello Helen, welcome to the group. I hope for a great ending in a book, something that totally surprises me. I love Stephen King too and also looking forward to Finders Keepers to be released.
Thanks for the feedback Paula :) I also love a book with a good surprise at the end. Both in what I read and what I write. It's always good to be blown away by something you didn't see coming. Like the ending in Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn :)

Thank you for the suggestion. I often read books other member suggest.
Hello Tammy and welcome,

Hi Paula, I actually got my books mixed up lol It was Dark Places I was thinking of with the good ending :-) I have Sharp Objects on my bookshelf but I just havent got to it yet. I tend to buy books quicker than I can read them lol

I think I have books in almost every room of the house and then I get more from the library all the time.
Yes Paula thats about right. I will get books from everywhere and anywhere. I recently picked up a whole bag full for really cheap but there's no room on my bookshelf for them and not sure when I'll get round to reading them :-)

My brother and I take turns reading them. My brother lives alone and doesn't watch tv so he is always reading when not working in his garden.
That sounds wonderful Paula :-) I wish I had more time to read. I used to devour heaps of books all the time but now I have three small children, I'm studying and I just published my first book and am working on two more so I have so much to divide my time between. I try to still read something everyday though (other than proof-reading my own work lol)

Hello everyone. My name is J.M. Brown and I am a new author of thriller books. I am a former psychiatric nurse and my career has enlightened me with great insight into the human mind enabling me to create characters with stunning realism. I am from NL. Canada. Thanks for having me in the group. More information can be found about me at this link:http://www.amazon.com/Pretty-Maidens-...
Oh wow Paula that must be pretty rough on you. I hope the reading helps take you away from the pain :-)
Helen wrote: "Oh wow Paula that must be pretty rough on you. Reading also helps me fall asleep which is something I don't usually get too much of.
Hi everyoneI live in Brighton UK and used to work in finance until I quit a few years ago to write thrillers set in the business world. I have two books published and a third in progress, but I will be well-behaved and say no more about them in this thread!
I also love to read thrillers and like Lee Child, John Grisham, Philip Kerr, Linwood Barclay, and Robert Harris to name but a few. Looking forward to getting to know you guys and discovering some great new reads.
Rose
Welcome to Helen, Rose, J.M., and Tammy. Enjoy our little group. We have some great members and Autumn, Sean and Janet do a fine job moderating. It is tons of fun. My favorite group is the buddy read. It has always been a lot of fun and the people have always been very interesting and the kind of readers that you would like to hang out with. I have read with people from Canada, England, and India this year. A whole different perspective.Helen:
Some of my favorites - The Prey Series by John Sanford - don't have to read in order except for Shadow Prey and Eyes of Prey. - Tess Gerritsen - #1 The Surgeon, #2 The Apprentice (nothing like the Angie Harmon tv show), have really been getting into Tana French and S.J. Bolton (Lacey Flint series), John Connolly (Charlie Parker series), Michael Connelly (both Jack McEnvoy and Harry Bosch), Ian Rankin (John Rebus), and James Lee Burke (Dave Robichaux) - who taught briefly at Wichita State when I was there.
Best,
Cameron
Thank you very much foe your feedback Cameron. I can't say I've heard of all of them but thanks for sharing and letting me know what you like to read :-)
Hello everyone,
I am Melissa from the rainy land of Vancouver, Canada.
I have too many favourite series to name - but one of my favourite is the Temperance Brennan series by Kathy Reichs.

Hi, my names Stefanie and I am a 30 year old mother of a 23 month old son. I have loved to read since my earliest memories and I discovered Goodreads in 2013, although I didn't begin to use the social aspects of the site until recently. I graduated with my BS in Neuroscience in 2012 and was applying to medical schools when I learned I was pregnant. Since then, I have decided to pursue a career in Forensic Psychology and am preparing to apply to graduate schools in Clinical Psychology. When I am not doing school related work, taking care of my son, or doing the dreaded housework, I am reading. (SOmetimes I am reading while doing housework). Would love to connect with a few new members who love to chat about a good book. The members Ive connected with so far have been great! Thanks everybody
Hi Stefanie, welcome to the group. Sounds like an interesting career path you are persuing. With your busy life it's amazing you can find the time to read. When there is a will, there is a way. I spend half the night reading as I have trouble sleeping with my husband's sleep apnea machine running. I don't complain as he needs it and I love to read in bed. I just take a nap while he is at work.
Hi Stefanie, my friend
as mentioned you will always get a warm welcome here.
great author recommendations, as you will see with the
threadsI mentioned.
PS Loving my first Mason Cross book, a member here

Welcome Melissa and Stefanie. I hope that you both enjoy the group. I think that you will. You will find no shortage of good people that like to chat you up about a good book. May I recommend the Thriller Group - Group Reads/Book Pals where you are paired up monthly with someone else and you pick a book and read and discuss it.Best,
Cameron

My wife and I both sleep right through it with no trouble at all. I cannot sleep without it.
