Paula Adams (goodreadscompadams57) | 1590 comments Hello Jazz, welcome to the group. I've had my Kindle for 2 years and still getting acquainted. It's great for traveling.

message 5152: by Amber (last edited Apr 20, 2015 09:35AM) (new)

Amber Martingale Jenna, what genre is Stuart Macbride?

Paula: Only if you support the fact an e reader is a luxury item that promotes environmental degradation and human rights violations by African warlords as I've pointed out in several OTHER groups/threads. That's all I'm saying about them.

message 5153: by Jen (new)

Jen | 48 comments Amber: it's Detective/crime thrillers set in Scotland. The Logan McRae series is quite humorous at times, a good mix with the subject matter. The Ash Henderson series is much darker but still enjoyable.

I seem to end up reading novels set in places I have to travel for work a lot of late, purely by accident. I'm wondering if I should be worried about my next trip to Dublin...

Amber Martingale LOL.

Good question... .

It was a gift from my husband. I didn't really want one. I prefer holding a book in my hands the old fashioned way.

message 5156: by Mike (the Paladin) (new)

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 652 comments My daughter got me a Kindle for Christmas a couple of years ago because (she said) she was tired of hearing me complain about all the books that that were "Ebook only".

I still prefer print books to...though more and more I lean toward audio books.

message 5163: by Jaime (new)

Jaime (jalyns7611) | 89 comments Jaime - Not brand new but never introduced - I am in Alabama. I read true crime and fiction crime, mysteries, horror, thrillers, suspense, and occasionally I will read something feel good. I have 2 kids, one grown and one 11. I have an Australian Cattle Dog named Bowser. I had a cat but my daughter took him when she moved out. I prefer paper books and can sit in a book store all day. I own a tablet for my night time reading. I love music and am a classically trained pianist. During the summer I stay at the beach or on the water every weekend. Makes for great reading time.

You have my condolences... so to speak.

Mike: I only listen to UNABRIDGED audios.

Sean: I don't care much for cats, given my bad experiences with the one cat my family ever owned, but that said I don't rejoice when something bad happens to a cat.

As an icebreaker to the newbies in this group: Who feels old when they hear this song, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RghL1... ?

I think we've had a fair few new members join since I've last been on here. Welcome and enjoy the group.

message 5171: by Amber (last edited Apr 22, 2015 01:51PM) (new)

Amber Martingale I'm sure they will, Janet.

I know I may not have talked much about myself. I think you can find put almost as much about another person by listening to his or her musical tastes as you can by talking to them. With that in mind, here is the currently playing item on the 1st of my SIX YouTube playlists: Simon Zealotes Poor Jerusalem from the 1973 film version of JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I3bZq...

My husband was playing the JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR CD last night. He saw the show in NY a long time ago. I've only seen the movie.

Amber Martingale Cool. Last time I heard about it in the news, Ted Neely was still playing Jesus and he was STILL hitting the high notes but that was back between 2008 and 2009! Not as easily as back in the 1970's, though.

I remember when this one was on the airwaves... back when MTV STILL played music videos... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVikZ...

Hi Mike, I preferred print books but I hated the amount of space taken up and the dusting involved. I have 3000 books on my first kindle, no way could I store 3000 printed books in my house. Love your kindle they are awesome
