Hello to all the newcomers!!! We are so happy to have you with us. I know some of you may feel a little shy at first, but please just jump right in and join in the discussion. Also, be sure to check out Book Pals, it is a great way to get to know others in the group one-on-one and take down that TBR list. If you ever need anything, anything at all, do not hesitate to contact me with PM! I will be so happy to help you in any way that I can. People do it all the time, so feel free! Once again, welcome!
Hello,I've enjoyed reading thrillers since I was a kid and started on Ian Fleming's James Bond. I've soaked up and enjoyed the mainstreamers such as Lee Child, James Patterson and Patricia Cornwell. Now I've started reading indie thrillers. I've only been writing thrillers for a few years so I'm still learning the ropes but it is great fun.
Hello Gordon, welcome to the group. I've never read any of the James Bond books. Are they as good as the movies?
Hi Paula,The ideas are there in the books but the movies make so much more of the stories. I read the books before the movies and I think that if I had seen the movies first then read the books I would have been disappointed with some of the books. My fav James was Sean Connery but I'm warming to Daniel Craig.

My favorite is also Sean Connery. I almost always read the book before seeing the movie. I am usually disappointed in the movie as it's so different from the book.

I saw and loved the Jason Bourne movies then bought Ludlum's 'The Bourne Identity'. I was very disappointed. Now, I never buy the book after the movie.
Sonya wrote: "I love Jason bourne"I think Matt Damon was absolutely perfect for the Bourne movies. When I read James Patterson's Alex Cross books I hear Morgan Freeman (did the early Alex Cross movies) in my head speaking for Alex. I had hoped to hear Matt Damon when I was reading 'The Bourne Identity' but the character in the book doesn't remind me of Matt Damon.
Gordon, have you ever read the The Bourne Identity? I really have no use for the Damon movie because of the way they gutted the story (no reflection on Damon's acting). If you haven't read the novel you ought to try it.

We're humans not robots so why should we have the same taste in anything?!
Let's always bear that in mind peeps! :-)

Thanks Janet, Sean and Mike.
As far as the Jason Bourne Books and Movies go ...I loved the Ludlum books in high school ... tried to read them a couple of years back ... ahhh ...uhhh... eh ... couldn't get into them anymore.
The movies ... well ... uhh .... eh ...couldn't get into them.

I catch them when they are on TV. The movie Along Came A Spider with Morgan Freeman introduced me to James Patterson's books and he is now one of my fav authors.
Amber wrote: "I can't watch TV, either. Can't afford cable or satellite."Same here. I don't even have netflix or the like.

Hello,My name is Bob Rapoza and I have been writing for three years now. I have completed two, novel length thriller manuscripts and was recently picked up by an agent. I'm hopeful, but realistic about my chances of getting a publishing deal.
I enjoy reading different genres, but thrillers are my favorite so this group seems like a great fit.
Hope to read some great stories and I look forward to getting to know the group!
Thanks,
Bob Rapoza
Hello Bob, welcome to the group. Good luck getting published, that would be great. Great group of people here,

I only watch TV at the local bar or I watch whatever is on at a relative's house if I'm there for like Thanksgiving or Christmas.

Kirsten wrote: "Amber, do you have NO technology at home?"I have a radio, a dishwasher, a can opener, a toaster, a fridge and a stove. Microwave died in November of last year and I haven't replaced it yet. Can't afford to. I get only $733 in Supplemental Security Income and $410 of it goes to rent, $130 to 2x monthly housekeeping and the rest to everything else essential: power bills, hygiene supplies and copays @ the pharmacy...as well as my out of pocket dental bills. This month it was $116 for a filling. Next month it'll be $130 for an extraction ($35 discount).
I get that. My wife passed after a long illness and being bed-fats for 2 years. By the time she passed all our savings and my IRA were gone. I have bad knees and shoulders and can't get around well (holding on for this summer when I hope to get my knees replaced). I live on my Social Security (disability) it's all i have left. if my daughter didn't share the apartment and pay for cable i wouldn't have it either.Hang in there Amber.
Working on it, Mike.Have a friend at a local church on the lookout for a secondhand microwave so I don't have to pay full price for a new one, even at a place like FAMILY DOLLAR, DOLLAR TREE or DOLLAR GENERAL. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Family_D... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dollar_Tree and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dollar_G...
I was declared legally unable to work back in 2007 and got my final back pay in either '08 or '09 but I had to get an SSI lawyer and go through a court hearing in St. Louis.
Hello everyone! I am Hannah, from warm sunny AZ currently at home in the cool beautiful Pacific Northwest. I first stumbled into a library completely by accident at the tender age of 11 and it was love at first site. Reading is my passion, if I could be paid to read oh my! But alas that is not the case. So I read whenever possible in the stolen moments of my busy life and enjoy a wide variety of books from the classics, to psychological thrillers, to murder mysteries,to fantasy, to books on human psychology, etc etc. I am not a fan of history or sci fi but that may change with age. I have my own personal library that is constantly growing and am at around 300 books or so to date, with a goal of having a roomful of floor to ceiling shelves full of wondrous adventures. Currently I am reading And the Mountains Echoed and so far I am loving it. This year I have been partaking in the 2015 Reading Challenge https://www.pinterest.com/pin/2799973... with some pals and am about a quarter of the way through with it.I am also doing the Book Pals here monthly. If anyone wants to chat books or do the 2015 Reading Challenge with me, come find me here..
Happy Reading my fellow bibliophiles! :)
