'Literature Map Chain' Challenge

For this challenge you will pick one of your favorite authors to start a chain of authors to read.

Enter your author in the Literature Map. This will pull up a list of similar authors. The closer to the center the closer the writing styles.

Start your chain by reading a book from your first author, then a book from an author close to your first chosen author. To make the next link revisit the Literature Map and enter your second author, choose an author close to them and continue the chain, trying as many authors as you can.

Hopefully this will expand our reading horizions just a bit.

Example:
My first author is Sherrilyn Kenyon, which links me to Christine Feehan. Who then links me to Lora Leigh. then Lori Foster, then Erin McCarthy then Katie MacAllister and so on.

Set your own goal for this. Try it for a month, three or a year. Or set it for a specific number of authors.

Since I can't decide with what author to start this thing, I'm going with first book I pick up next year. :) That will be decided with very scientific method - names on piece of paper and pen dropping on it. :)

It was different method - I asked roommates to give me number (books on ereader) and reading book under that number :)

This is an awesome challenge, and I would love to participate. I have a question though. Do we need to read the authors in order? Or, can we make the literature map chain first of say ten authors, and then read randomly from that list?

You have to read in order, it is a chain one , moving one link to the next.

I'm in. I think what I'm going to do is read one book from an author that I have read before and one that is new to me. Only the first month will start from the same name and then it'll branch off, like a tree or grapes. :)

I love that map thingy. So cool. This is similar to a challenge I did where you used the Readers Also Enjoyed list on the goodreads book pages to make a chain.

Cool thanks. I don't plan to make a habit of it. Actually I ended up reading the 2nd Thea Harrison book before the Nalini Singh so it didn't matter anyway. Although I do have another Sabrina Jeffries library audiobook I want to listen to as well.

Anyone else notice some oddball connections? Like I put in Stephanie Laurens and it connects to Rachel Rae. Who connects to 3 historical romance authors and another author I've never heard of before. I just think it's odd that a cookbook author would be in there with historical romance authors.
