Team Maven, because I find Cal to be a bit boring, and we know everything about him. But with Maven, there's still so much to learn who HE actually is. You get glimpses of the real Maven (the one his mother couldn't completely destroy) throughout King's Cage. Maven is a guy that has been tortured and mentally manipulated his entire life, to the point where he can't tell what is really him and what is really his mothers manipulations. Even when though she'd dead, and not able to manipulate Maven's thoughts anymore, the damage has been done. I just hope that in book 4 Maven will have time away from the court and not have to rely on his personality made by his mother, and be able to actually be himself. Maybe. Well I hope so. But probably not because Aveyard is team "Mare".

From the first Moment, when Mare and Cal met each other, i immediately fell in love with them as a couple. Cal was always so kind, funny, though and loving. In each part of the book, it was so obvious how much Cal loves Mare. They have such an exciting, breathtaking, intensive love story.
I looovvve Cal's character. He is this though, frightening, dangerous soldier but so many people forget that he has a good heart. He has such a loving personalty when he is near her.
In the presence of others he has this cold mask. But when she is around he is funny and sweet.
No one could understand his indecision. On the one hand his Family, his friends, everything he knew, and on the other hand the girl he loves. But so often he chose her. Besides her little dumb "Thing" with his stupid brother Maven, her betrayal, he never let her down. Even when she wasn't her-self, he loved her.
And to all the people who are Team Maven. Yeah, of course it is your opinion. But damn, i can't understand your point of view at ALL. He is a monster! And yeah, i know your Argument "It was the influence of his mother" blah blah. But it "WAS"!!!!! She is dead now, and he still acts like a dumbass child who didn't get his sweets. ugh same i really want maven to pull a Warner/Rhysand if ya know what i mean lol. like at first i suspected he would turn out to be working with Elara after all but i wanted to like him so it was sad when it turned out to be true. HOWEVER i still haven't given up on him and The Kings Cage actually makes me love him more but idk tho. Aand even tho cal seemed cool at first i hate how he cant just pick a damn side already tho in TCK he was starting to grow onto me until he just had to ruin it all at the end. i mean hey i was trying to give him a chance regardless of my love for maven and heck i wouldv been ok with him with mare as long as maven still got the happy ending he deserved coz hes my precious cinnamon roll ok. I've been going back and forth since the beginning because of all the betrayals. In Glass Sword I was on team Cal, but then Maven captured Mare, and while she was a prisoner I started to like Maven again. But then Cal saved her and I was on team Cal again. If I had to choose after finishing Kings Cage I would choose Maven. Because we never really have gotten to see the real him yet. His mother tortured and manipulated him, and practically made every choose for him. In Kings Cage we actually got to see him make his own choices, but he was still following in his mothers footsteps and her plan. I want to see and learn more about HIM not his mother's version of him. Like Cal said I hope he can be helped by a newblood that is like a whisper. I am looking forward to seeing the real him in the future. #TeamMaven

Cal just doesn't do it for me. Too simple. Maven, on the other hand, is more complex and mysterious, especially now that we know about that whole "mother and my brain" mishap. He feels like a character with a chance to correct and redeem while Cal is just a spoiled prince who had an easy life and struggles to choose. (struggle, i.e. you remember the ending of King's Cage)

I was expecting some different sensation while reading King's Cage (with my expectations by reading Mareven intimate moments or maybe think this time VA would make Mare choose him) but the epilogue is so...arrrkgh! (It's fulfill my expectations and I scream in victory when I read Cal's betrayal).
People who hate Maven are people who don't really understand him. He's not evil, he's just get a wrong way raised by his Mother. No one is born evil.

You know, King's Cage left me feeling pretty uneasy but at the end of the day, #TeamCal, though I ship Kilorn with myself undoubtedly. I can't get over the things Maven has done to Mare. He has a pretty sick version of love because of Elara or whatever, but... I'm not sure that justifies anything and I'm not even sure "fixing" him will change things, at least for me. If someone paraded you around like a dog and then magically morphed into someone else, would that be enough for you? He's literally caused Mare so much pain. Admittedly so I found myself pretty enchanted by him, but I stand firm with Cal all the way to the throne. Mare's an idiot. He'd make a wonderful king.

I honestly have no clue who Mare will pick. I think that Tyton - the lightning power guy who can go into people's brains and make them have a seizure or whatever - will turn Maven back into his normal self.
Samos, Calore, Cygnet, the Rift, Norta, and the Lakelands may have a war and Cal and/or Maven will die. I think Mare will choose Maven or neither of them because she already broke up with Cal. I was really rooting for Cal too. :)

If I were to choose for me, I would choose Maven because I am fascinated in Him even though he is described as this twisted monster who is hungry for power. Cal for me is a bit boring like he is this default character in a fairy tale book. But I would say that I'd be very happy whoever Mare end up with because she'll be happy whether it's Maven Cal or Kilron for that matter :)

Team Maven because you could argue that he's the underdog. Cal has always been the golden boy, the one who girls dance with, the one who was meant to be king. However, Maven was the one who dealt with things that I doubt Cal would be able to survive. He had parts of him cut out by his mother, relationships twisted, and through it all, we still see flickers of the boy who Mare thought was constant. Cal is always seen as indecisive, as dutybound, and destined to rule. And, Mare is right. He is all of those things, but he's also the sort of person who would leave Mare at the simple command of someone. He would never fight for Mare if he was given a choice between the throne and Mare. Maven? He would kill and commit horrendous atrocities just to be able to know that Mare is close by and safe. He doesn't even need her to love him, while he certainly wants her to, he just is happy to know that she is there.

I started out as team cal, but then I leaned more towards team maven. I think maven's broken mind can be fixed and if so, i definitely want him and mare to be together, but I feel that poor mare has been through so much, and, after King's Cage, Cal just seems like a big baby to me who wants(SPOILER) to have both Mare and the throne, and he knows he can't get either. I honestly think Mare should continue with her strong female personality and be on her own unless one of the two boys redeem themselves, which I find highly unlikely, since they have both "broken" her to an extent where she might not be able to feel love anymore. They need to prove themselves to her. For now #teamMare is my answer.

I'm in the middle. Maven did horrible things to Mare, but he does care about her, in his own twisted way. He lied to her time and time again. He branded her as his (Who the f does that?!) But, you can see that he was treated horribly by his mother, twisting him and molding him to her own horrible image. Cal, as Mare said, is a good person at heart, he is just unwilling to change, and truly see the dawn.

It's honestly a really close tie. They've both done things to hurt her, and betray her. But I really feel that either one could turn out beautiful, or as a beautiful disaster. I'm beginning to lean slightly more towards Maven. But I guess we'll just see how War Storm changes that.

I choose team Cal because in book 1 at the bowl of bones Cal vows to protect Mare as long as he can. As soon as I met Maven I was on his team then we found out that he was just using Mare and the Scarlet Guard, so then Cal saved her and then I finally decided I was team Cal. Even though Cal does betray Mare at the end of Kings Cage but I believe that Cal will make the right decision and change the world from Red vs. silver and Make Mare his RED QUEEN!

I honestly don't know who to pick. Maven shows some of his good side in King's Cage. But then Cal had to go and betray Mare. Ugh! I was back and forth through the whole series. I hope the 4th installment starts off months or years later so Mare has time to get over the brothers and finds a new man that understands and loves her, and most of all is not afraid of her.

Honestly, I hope she goes with no one. At least not by the end of the book. Maybe some guy after the series ends that we never get to meet. Because at the way Maven is going, I feel like he's at the point of no return (I still find him an intriguing character though) and Cal not only chose power over her (I don't really blame too much because that's like having to choose between the girl you like and the job you've dreamed of getting your entire life), Cal is also a little boring. I like reading about the tough, bad boy types but Cal just didn't do it for me. He and her are way too different in their ideals and life prospects. They only care for their own blood. Mare takes marriage seriously and wants it to be about love while Silvers use it for political means and keep the people they love as a side hoe. And I hate the girl ending up with the childhood best friend because its cliche and we don't get to see them explore all their relationships and chemistry or get to learn new things about them. So that means no Kilorn. So I'll be happy if either Mare ends up with some other new guy who she isn't childhood best friends/ hasn't betrayed her yet or she just doesn't choose anyone by the end of the book. But then there is also option c, which is she chooses a girl (Cameron, Farley?) But I won't expend too much of my thinking on it because although I like this series, it's not my favorite (that has to go to A Court of Thorns and Roses and also Six of Crows)

Cal and Mare had a connection, not just chemistry. He spent six months sober because she wasn't by his side. And not to mention that Maven killed children. Mare never really loved him and it was more of a mutual bond between her and Maven. Nor did she experience heartbreak from him. He only betrayed her.

Nah... Maven can Mare wouldn't ever really work. It's so obvious since Book 1 that she was always going to end up with Cal! But, with that being said, I agree with you. I don't buy the whole "Maven-is-all-bad" thing. I feel like Mare tried to force that idea on us through her POV and so did the other POVs I guess, but you cannot tell me that just because someone is broken means that they don't deserve redemption -- especially when it's not their fault. Yes, Maven did terrible things. Yes, he should pay the consequences... but did he deserve to die for the way that his mother twisted him?
Mare says that it's his own fault for making his decisions, but... was it? Until the end, a part of him still wondered and still cared. Can she imagine what it's like to have no one and to feel no love? What an empty world that would be! She has ALWAYS had someone. 100% TEAM MAVEN!!! He is the my absolute favorite character in the series and he is such a complicated, in depth, and for some reason sooo likable! He and Mare would be so much better for each other instead of Cal.... no offense, but I hated Cal. He was basic, selfish, spoiled and he isn’t at all as likable as Maven. Maven is perfect when Cal is a jerk. The only reason Maven acts the way he does is because his mother messed with his head.

I ship Maven and Mare for a few reasons. First, Maven is compelling. Secondly, I don't really care what happens to Mare one way or another so her choosing a pyscho doesn't really bother me. Sometimes it's interesting when a character chooses blind love and probably destruction. I didn't however want him to be with Iris or Evangeline. They deserve better! I guess I liked them more than Mare. Also, Mare being with Cal only solidifies the rumors that she is controlling him. They are so wrong for each other.

I'm not saying Maven is beyond redemption, I'm saying he has no business tearing open Mare's scar tissue just so he can become better. Mare deserves better than any of these two.
I was rooting for Cal, but a lot has to happen before I forgive him.
I don't understand why someone would ship Mare with Maven though. I mean, yes, in the first book, but now? He basically terrorized her throughout Book 2 and 3, made her a prisoner in her own skin, and you want to put her back with her abuser? Are you reading the same story? Mare still has PTSD from that experience!

Well, as I read through everyone elses posts, I think someone is going to be disappointed....Victoria Aveyard needs to do a really good job by bringing this story to an end!
Cal or Maven - I have know idea. I think Maven is probably going to die while doing something heroic for Mare. Cal was Mare's first love interest so they eventually will end up together.
Again: War storm better be blody brilliant like I know Aveyard can do it!

i want her to end up with cal but i don't think that would be a good ending it would be far to sweet and 'happily ever after'. it just doesn't fit the books.
but maven is still a disrupted human being which is not capable of truely loving some one. even if he get's his mind fixed, he has done things that can't be undone. Mare is someone that might be destined to be allone. I know this sounds sad, that's why i said i hope Cal does a 180 and comes back because he was the only one who truely understood her pain and love could love her.
i am just so exited for the last part of this serie

After reading the three books, I personally became uncertain. team maven or team cal, i really not sure with both. but, deep in my heart, i really hope that cal and mare can be together. and again, I have to remember Aveyard's words about, "silver and red can't be united in a lovers relationship." As if waking up after remembering it, I doubt if they will end up as I want?

Team Mare because Maven is evil, and yes, partially this is a product of what his mother did to him, but it doesn't change who he is, and what he still does after his mom dies. Cal, on the other hand, seems good in his heart, but come on, he chose power over Mare. So he doesn't deserve her. Besides, this isn't the first time Cal chose something over Mare, so it won't be the last. And MAVEN TORTURED HER!!! I'm sorry but there is no way I'd except her falling for him again. Maybe friendship if he proved himself, but nothing more.

Team Maven all the way. And I totally agree that he is not all bad. He is misunderstood and broken. I hope he finds his true self again in War Storm. Though I don't believe Victoria Aveyard will let him do it... It will be a shame if he doesn't.

I feel like everyone is going that way, even after reading King's Cage. He's still annoying but so is Mare ( a little) so it would be an annoying match but let's face it, we'd all be so much more satisfied.

I am sooooooo going for Maven BECAUSE he was her betrothed and she loved him and still does I hope they get back together and it is Mare and Maven Back together yay. Cal is not my favorite but it would be nice to see him find omeone besides mare that he likes.

To be honest I love Maven x Mare, because I think that Mare can help Maven become whole again and fill in the gaps that his mother left, perhaps teach him to become a better person and how to love.

I was Team Maven in the first book but then the betrayal happens and I was Team Mare all the way.
And then I was team Cal in the second book because they just work so well together.
And in the Third book I was still team Cal but the epilogue exits so I am team Mare now. I just need Mare to be alone for a while and then she can choose Cal.

obvi Mare is going to end up with Cal, it's just the way these series work. But personally, I'm #TeamMare she doesn't need any of them. Cal and Maven are both wrong for her. How about the story takes a twist and Mare ends up with Cameron? Anyone? ;)

#TeamMaven coz cal chose the crown not once but twice over mare and what has the crown ever done for him. and while maven isn't perfect he chose mare and that has to count for something. right? cal also can't chose a side and would be more than happy to leave the country with silver dominance while the reds fall to ruin

The whole book, the theme has been the man doesn't choose her. Y'all still thinking team cal and maven? Heck NO! It's obviously team Kilorn. Kilorn has stood by her no matter what. He has never betrayed her, always chooses her, and loves her like crazy. For once I have faith the author will let the good guy win.
