Team Maven or Team Cal? Personally, I ship Maven and Mare because I'm not buying the Maven-is-all-bad thing.

Cal has always been the golden boy, the one who girls dance with, the one who was meant to be king. However, Maven was the one who dealt with things that I doubt Cal would be able to survive. He had parts of him cut out by his mother, relationships twisted, and through it all, we still see flickers of the boy who Mare thought was constant. Cal is always seen as indecisive, as dutybound, and destined to rule. And, Mare is right. He is all of those things, but he's also the sort of person who would leave Mare at the simple command of someone. He would never fight for Mare if he was given a choice between the throne and Mare. Maven? He would kill and commit horrendous atrocities just to be able to know that Mare is close by and safe. He doesn't even need her to love him, while he certainly wants her to, he just is happy to know that she is there. (less)
