hahaha have u read it tho?
u dont seem like a person who has read Twilight..
N ur probably saying tht cos ur fed up with people talking bout it everytime...
But u kno wht, it doesnt even matter wht u think. We love Twlight and thts the end of story!

message 15: by Tobi (new)

Tobi Obaro Are you being serious? There are so many problems with Twilight that I cannot even begin to list them all here. Can't you people see what that book is doing to all your minds? Giving you completely unrealistic expectations in guys that will just end up messing up your romantic inhibitions.

Listen. Very. Carefully.

Twilight is poison. Other than Bella having no personality and more or less being Charlie's maid and Edwards's pet, there's then the issue of Edward being a potential axe murderer.

Then there's the fact that NONE of the people in the book even have any semblance of actual human beings. I could go on, but there are much better rants than mine.

message 16: by Aaki (new)

Aaki Bhandari Its funny how u said tht Tobi!
haha i can give u more reasons of liking Twilight than not liking it!!
i m pretty sure, u havent read the book.. Have u?

Tobi Obaro Aaki wrote: "Its funny how u said tht Tobi!

I could give you a link to up to three pages on reasons why twilight is shit, and I would love to see you come up with a reasonable argument against it, other than to assume someone has not read it.

Some people eat fries and don't like it. Some people do. You cannot decide that I do not like Twilight based on the assumption that I have not read it. I probably read Twilight before you even started reading in general.

Let me post a challenge to you. Read a romance book, and by that I mean a REAL romance book. Something with a plot. Something with a storyline other than a gorgeous vampire, then come back and tell me Twilight is still so wonderful. If you do, then I can say you are giving informed judgment by deciding Twilight is so wonderful all of a sudden.

oo Tobi, I m sorry!
I didnt mean it tht way! Yea, agreed Twilight is one of my problems. I can get very touchy bout Twilight sometimes.

anyway, i just mean that, I REALLY LIKE TWILIGHT! n thts all!!!

Desiree Tobi wrote: "Are you being serious? There are so many problems with Twilight that I cannot even begin to list them all here. Can't you people see what that book is doing to all your minds? Giving you completely..."

This book is like chocolate, it's addictive and satisfies your cravings. It's a great escape and although the characters are fictional, they are developed throughout the saga and I found many characters or their charactersistics relatable (wether to others or myself). It's fantasy though, and it's suppose to get your imagination going (keyword: Imagination) Let people obsess over Edward and his perfections. Most of these girls are very young and so what if some of them get caught up in the belief that there could be a vampire who's mesmorizing and glitters out there. Let them get away with their imagination while they are young, as that's what kids do! If they grow up to have screwed up relationships and "unrealistic expectations of guys" thats due to how they were raised and from personal experiences, not due to the writing in a popular fictional book. There will always be lovers and haters of certain literature, I just don't see why some of you like to delve so deep into the book and find underlying meanings and problems with it. Just let people enjoy it for what it is, pure fiction.

And to Tobi-I have read plenty of romance, I read all genres and no one said this was the best love story or best piece of literature (That i read so far), but it's great love/lust fantasy for teens, so it fits perfectly under this category. And again fantasy fiction-thats it. In no way would I compare this to Pride and Prejudice, or love of that kind, because it's just not suppose to be.

Erika Cat wrote: "I HATE TWILIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1"

why?!?!

message 24: by Erika (new)

Erika just a note to tobi--
um... first of all twilight is fiction , meaning that it doesn't matter if the characters aren't like human beings. it's fiction. and if you think bella is charlie's maid, then you're totally delusional. do you seriously think making dinner for your dad makes you a maid. what the heck? and i definitely agree with what desiree said.

message 25: by [deleted user] (new)

I did like the twilight series when I first read them, but now I don't like it anymore, I am still obsessed with Harry Potter though, I could read those books a million times and not get sick of them.

message 30: by Carson (new)

Carson Cat wrote: "I HATE TWILIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1"

Why?

message 31: by Sami (new)

Sami WOW twilight would be an okay book if people didn't obsess over it soooooooooo much

message 32: by Carson (new)

Carson well just because people obsess over it, it doesn't change the way the book is written (not to be rude or anything)

message 33: by Big (new)

Big Lizzzy i agree

That, and Bella is such a wimp. In fact, I'll even go as far as saying that the book is sexist.

message 39: by Wendy (new)

Wendy As an adult I read romance (of all sub-genres), paranormal, mystery, thriller and a bit of fantasy. Why to I read? Simply for pleasure and escapism. I do not read to enhance my mind or to legitamise my existence or to look for role models to look up to. I liked the Twilight series, they were simply a great read.

As a children's & young adult librarian, I ask myself this. (And I think some of the posters here need to as well). Why do teens read? You might be surprised (tho I wasn't) to learn when you do actually ask kids, that the majority of teens read for the same exact reason a lot of adults do....for pleasure and escapism.

I think Twilight is great in that it has turned a lot of non-reading teens onto reading. Yes they are 'trash fiction' but so what? I have gone through a gamut of genres in my reading life and NONE have adversely affected me. Each to their own I say.

message 40: by Amanda (last edited May 28, 2009 08:52PM) (new)

Amanda Reynolds I would say that I hate Twilight, but I would be lying, for hate does not encompass the true passion and whole-heartedness with which I loathe this series. These 'books' should not be accepted in the literary world! (and, in response to LibraryLass, I'm in my teens;I believe my IQ level DROPPED as a result of reading this series!)

message 41: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Reynolds pardon me, but i do believe that a 'trilogy' means that there are only three books in a sequence;wouldn't the ugly books be marked as a series, not a trilogy?

okay, i haven't read extras yet, but in these books popularity and beauty are interlaced;you gain popularity by being surgically reconstructed. i still believe these books should be called a SERIES, not a trilogy

They really aren't very good literature. The writing and plots were pretty bad, unoriginal, and shallow, but they were still addictive and entertaining easy reads.

message 46: by Jazz (new)

Jazz Wow there sure is a lot of debates on the twilight issue. Let me just mention that I found that it was okay but i didn't linger too much on it. And neither should everyone who has been obsessed with it lately. Because I must admit that it is starting to get fairly annoying to hear about it from almost every girl in my school.

People should get a bit more diversity before declaring it the best book of all time because soon after I tried Twilight I started other series and found that THERE ARE better book out there other than Twilight. But that's just my opinion.

message 47: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Reynolds Hannah wrote: "I can't believe Magic Bites is not part of this list!!!! How can everyone(erm most ppl) love the twilight saga by stephanie meyers and not Magic bites by ilona Andrews!!!! "

sorry, i hate twilight :)
and i've never even heard of 'magic bites'...

message 48: by Jazz (new)

Jazz I used to like the twilight saga until I READ OTHER BOOKS and found that twilight actually isn't that great. Plus all that obsessing about it really didn't help me like it any better. I say start looking for other books.

message 50: by Dani (new)

Dani I'm sorry but would you guys just shut up about Twilight.
Obviously the people who love Twilight love it, and are going to defend it to the end,
and the people who despise it have made up their minds and aren't going to change them no matter how much you love Twilight.

So can we now discuss something else, such as the other 300 something books?
