Heavy going for me this one. A lot of Irish Catholic religious discussion and agonising as a boy goes through a strict catholic boarding school and all the consequential hang-ups about women and natural sexual sex urges stemming from that. Could never read more than about 3 pages of Ulysses so at least I've now read one James Joyce book.

Would you have more luck with a book set in Malaysia or a book written ..."
No, its fine. It was just that I found those other two list books really quickly and I was actually reading one of them. Starting The Marsh King's Daughter now.
We need the tower books too so I'll focus on those until a Chipmunk pops up that suits.

12. Lobster on the cover -

Amazing. I thought that was a highly unlikely task to complete! Unless someone read a seafood recipe book or a book about a lobster farmer.
I've been skimming through that 2014 list a few pages at a time and there's nothing there for me so far. Lot of mid series titles I've never heard of. Is there a limit on the ranking number? There are 3500 or so listed and the last ones have one vote.

Have you seen the Harry Bosch TV series, Cilla? Titus Welliver looks nothing like Harry in the books but is perfect in the role. Has exactly the right weary cynicism and toughness.
I've heard Michael Connelly speak a few times. He said he regrets starting Harry out as a cop nearing retirement age but he had no idea when he wrote the first one how incredibly popular Harry would become. It limited how many books he could write about him unless he never aged him which he didn't want to do.
