35559 Great idea, Sixty. I’m compiling a list while I read because my current book doesn’t fit our last few tasks for these Monsters.

35559 I have a few books with bodies of water on the cover. One my husband is reading and won't finish for a while and another I won't read till July to fit another challenge. But they're there if we need them for that.

35559 The Burning Shore The Courtney Series 4 by Wilbur Smith

Not only does Wilbur Smith's French heroine survive WW1's Western Front battles, she also survives a shipwreck off the Skeleton Coast of Africa and being lost in the sand dune deserts and the Kalahari Desert of present day Namibia. Also had a baby in the midst of it all saved and assisted by an elderly pair of San--Bushpeople. Quite a woman. But she does tick a few boxes task wise. At least three quarters of the book is set in the African desert regions so unless someone comes up with something else it should qualify there. Oh and she was chased up a tree by a lion and survived a mauling.

35559 The Wilbur Smith I’m reading has 592 pages. Task 1 of Cerberus or Scylla. I’ll time it to finish when the mini starts.

35559 What will be a real bummer is if an obscure task comes up that my book fits but I'm on p102 of 600 Hahaha

35559 The Maze is a great spectator sport. I'm just reading my longer books and if one fits a move when I'm about to finish a book that's fine. I'll switch to shorter books probably for the Mini.

35559 Gosh, yes. The Maze is blink and you miss it stuff. My only chance of helping is if my book fits a clue when I have about a chapter to go.

From what I can see the planning sheet hasn’t been updated for a few days so maybe we’re not so far behind… My current books are longer and slower so not helping a lot.

35559 Finished For The Time Being Collected Journalism by Dirk Bogarde

I really enjoyed this. Actor Dirk Bogarde was soooo handsome as a young man but aside from that he's also a really good writer. A selection of his articles and book reviews for a London newspaper feature here (1980s to 90's) and I now have a list of recommended books to track down.

35559 The book I’ve just started is a collection of writings and memories of the actor Dirk Bogarde. His sister is called Elizabeth, if that helps with the mini. I’ll finish it in time, it’s a good read.

35559 Finished The Match (Wilde, #2) by Harlan Coben . I read the paperback version of 344 pages. Not sure what this link goes to but it's correct on our spreadsheet. The hardcover has more pages

So books can't be used for both the Maze and the next month's mini challenge?"

35559 I just added another book to the planning sheet as wellas the one I'm on now. I'll have a good go at finishing it in time. It's a Harlan Coben thriller so should be a much faster read than old Henry VIII.

35559 My book definitely has a wedding first up and then a chapter or so later, a funeral!

35559 Finished! What a terrific read.
The Mirror & the Light (Thomas Cromwell, #3) by Hilary Mantel

From a quick flip through my next read has a wedding in the first few pages which I imagine qualifies as a celebration although in this case the bride's mother doesn't seem happy about it.
