Hi Ilsen.
Sarah wrote: "The Traveling Cat Chronicles.....too many feelings!"It doesn't sound like my kind of book. I like a happy ending ...that said Henry VIII did have Thomas Cromwell beheaded and I've become fond of him over the three volume set.

To finish our May mini someone's going to have to read fast because it won't be me, Abir :) This 885 pager will take about another 4 or 5 days, I think, so I'll only get through one or maybe two more shorter ones to help with the May mini challenge.

I've set myself a minimum daily quota of 90 pages with the machinations of Thomas Cromwell and Henry VIII. It's not quick reading. My goodness they were ruthless. Nothing has changed in politics and the struggle to get and retain power, except now beheading isn't the method of choice for disposing of enemies.

That's great! I wish I was having that kind of luck, lol. My first book was awful. Just finished it and it was definitely not good."It's tough when you read for a challenge and hate the book. Is it better to cut your losses and scrap it or plough on for the team? I rarely do that in general but I just couldn't read a library book a week back (between challenges) and had to ditch it or lose the will to live.

My book starts with a beheading.

Thanks Lisa, yes I know the time differences it's just that when the mods check our shelves the GR time will say I started the book ahead of schedule because it's on US time. When I first did UNO I had my GR time set at Aus time and the team leader asked me to change it to US time. Now I can't remember how I did it.

Here's a question. My date for start/read etc are on US time for UNO which is different to TT. I can't remember how to reset the time so the dates will show correctly for this challenge. It's simple I seem to remember --if I knew where to look.

I'm not a horror reader but I read If It Bleeds by Stephen King last year and really enjoyed it. It's 4 long short stories none of them horror but all have quirky twists and are very well-written.
I read The Gunslinger last month for UNO and liked that, too. It took a while to get into the odd Western style world he's invented but then it became a bit of a page turner and I wouldn't mind reading more in the Dark Tower series.

I'm reading my current book slowly so I finish at the right time to dive into my long Hilary Mantel book.

I've added the 885 page
under MPG Historical/ Historical Fiction, It will probably take me most of the May two weeks but I should be able to chip in a few shorter ones to help with the Mini tasks we need.
I'm looking forward to reading that book.
I don't think I'll be doing any BOM activities.

Thanks Deanna. It's my first TT so I'll roll with what comes. All good.

Oh! So those Muses challenges are for May?"
Yes. Just for May!"Hahaha. Just when I thought I could linger in a book. Presumably it’s better to pick a few quick reads to cover these. Are the challenges always two week efforts or is this just because we started halfway through May?

Thanks Karolyn. Doing UNO has trained me for the tighter timeframes and task covering which is great fun but pretty full on. This seems much more relaxed but still focussed. Good!

I see we have a list of Mini challenges. Are they to be attempted throughout the 3 months or do we focus on a few at a specific time? Do we claim slots we can fill or do the team leaders do that as we go?

the old style classic writers.
The Ken Follett is Fall of Giants --850 pages. My husband read it and liked it a lot and I enjoyed the Pillars of the Earth and its sequel so I'm looking forward to reading it.
I really like the Harry Bosch series and particularly the related Mickey Haller books. For Uno I reread two of Cynthia-Harrod Eagles Bill Slider police procedurals which are very funny but also good mysteries. And I've been reading a fair bit of Agatha Christie too. Catching up on some of her classic stories, amongst others,

Hi everyone. Elisabeth here. This is my first TT but I've been a UNO tragic for a few years and do other annual non team challenges as well.
I'm in Canberra, Australia, retired and spend my time writing, reading, playing clarinet and playing tennis. In my working life I taught and played clarinet and taught Tai Chi classes around bringing up two beautiful children.
I read a lot of mystery/ thriller/crime and also like historicals. This year I've been making a point of reading or rereading classic novels such as Anna Karenina and Brave New World. I plan to kick off TT with the third book in the Wolf Hall trilogy, The Mirror and the Light and also finally get to that fat Ken Follett book sitting in my TBR pile.
My shelf is TT 22. Don't know how to link it here, sorry.

Hi everyone. I'm a newbie to NBRC and Tower Teams but my UNO captain alerted me to the group. I've signed up and am looking forward to another team reading challenge.
I am doing a few year long solo ones. What a sucker I am for these things.
