35559 Good! I was expecting some sort of music to pop up in it based on the other books I’ve read in the series.

35559 My last round 3 book done. Now I can get a head start on my book about Dame Nellie Melba—small print on small margin pages. Looks as though they were trying to save on printing costs.

35559 I have a nonfiction book Song for My Fathers: A New Orleans Story in Black and White about a young white boy who grows up in the black jazz community in New Orleans playing clarinet in the marching bands. It covers all the mini sections so what will be hardest to find, do you think?

35559 Done.

35559 I just finished As Though I Had Wings: The Lost Memoir which is a memoir by jazz trumpeter Chet Baker. I read it for MPG Music but it fits multiple locations in Road Trip. He moved all over the US and also France, England, Germany and Italy. Should I move it? I have something else for Music if we need it and it fits the new countries. Husband and I are both musicians so we have lots of books that fit MPG Music but they're nonfiction so a bit restricted.

35559 Agree! I’m reading The Castle of Otrantofor the published in 1700’s slot. An original romantic type thriller which had everyone enthralled. Years ago I read a better known one of those The Mysteries of Udolpho which was always being read by heroines in 19th century novels such as Jane Austen. They’re great fun.

35559 Is there are a Dutch word for defenestrate?
Nov 13, 2025 02:34PM

35559 It’s surprising we haven’t filled ‘moderate’ yet. Defenestration not so much!. I have read it in crime books though.

Such a bummer when a book doesn’t live up to its blurb.

35559 Woohoo! Now we can do it all over again, I want to read an Agatha Christie The Murder at the Vicarage by Agatha Christie and it will fit the cozy mystery slot. And Mystery, Crime, Thriller ,Historical and Classic. Sure to have a timepiece for mini 6 in it too if that is still empty when I get to it. hahaha I've read lots of hers for these challenges and there are so many its years between reads.

35559 My husband was born in Rotterdam and they came to Australia when he was 7. We’re planning a final trip overseas next year taking in The Netherlands. We lived in Den Haag for about a year in the 70’s.

She really needs to open and actually read at least one history book or read Ken Follett. hahaha

35559 I could finish my terrible book but it’s better in Rd 3. Apart from being awful it’s a useful challenge book with it’s niche task filling ability and reasonable letters.

I also put a Thomas Hardy in for first published in 1880.

That’s fine, Claire. The era is probably hard to find. I’ll be just glad to finish the thing. Worst book I’ve struggled through for a long time 😀

35559 Found a Nature book. I was so sure we had Gerald Durrell My Family and Other Animals but it’s disappeared and the one we have of his I read earlier this year. Anyway the I do have is worth a reread. It’s about areas that for various reasons have been abandoned and left to nature eg no man’s lands between borders, old factories, islands that are no longer inhabited etc. Fascinating. Islands of Abandonment Life in the Post-Human Landscape by Cal Flyn

35559 Yes. Unless it’s an exact 10 tags they want. If that’s the case I can look at where else it might go. Sure to be somewhere.
