A friend gave me
recently and the main character is Xiang. I’m looking forward to reading it but It’ll have to wait for an X country.
I'm not fussed where mine go either.A book often fits lots of tasks so at the start of the challenge it's hard to decide where to put it. I try to guess which will be the hardest for the team to find and slot it in there,
🌍 Where are you journeying from?Canberra, Australia's capital.
💖 A book, author, or genre that’s always “preciousss” to you?
Nothing in particular. Depends how I'm feeling.
🍫 Optional snack check: if you were bringing second breakfast for the road, what’s in your pack?
Fruit, nuts, crackers, cheese. Water!
🧿“Who is your favourite villain… and why is it obviously Me, Sauron?”
There were some terrific villains in Game of Thrones.
💍 Which unread book on your shelf whispers to you most like the Ring?
At the moment, The Odyssey but I have it listed for one of my first books in this challenge.
🌋Which books/characters did you feel like throwing into Mount Doom?
My goodness I really disliked Daisy Jones and the Six, and Where the Crawdads Sing. Anna Karenina needed a good kick up the bum too.
🥾What’s your favourite real-life walk… and why is it clearly the Road to Mordor?
We really enjoy walking around the central basin of our city's Lake Burley Griffin. Beautiful views everywhere in all seasons.
🎒 Would you survive the Tongariro Alpine Crossing carrying Sam’s cookware set and Frodo’s the Mighty Lord Sauron's Ring?
Hmm I'm no hiker but I'd love to give it a go, Maybe the aging body would say no somewhere along the way though. NZ weather is fickle too so that's offputting,
⚔️ If you needed rescuing, which literary character(s) would you choose would you choose the Nazgûls, the Balrog or the Orcs?
None of those would come rescuing anyone would they? Or I am not understanding the question?
Hello everyone. I’m popping in from Canberra, Australia, to say hello and will answer the intro questions later. My son and his wife are in a kids band called The Vegetable Plot (check them out) and are here for the last shows of a tour before heading home to Sydney. I haven’t heard them live for a long time so I’m off to join the young parents and the under 7 brigade for some bad jokes and fun songs about veggies and fruit. Hahaha🥑🍆🍍🥕🎸🎶🎶

Street libraries have popped up in lots of places here in Canberra. There's a three drawer filing cabinet in one street near me, also an old fridge at a nearby suburban shopping centre. There's a small one close by on my way to the bus stop, too.During the Covid lockdowns when we were all allowed out for a walk every day, people would leave boxes of books out for exchanges.
I have a friend who said whenever she goes on holiday and stays somewhere for a week or two in Aus she joins the local library,

I add books to my TBR shelf when I read about or remember a book I want to read. It’s my way of remembering all those interesting books that if they aren’t written down go out of my brain when I’m at the library or the secondhand bookshop.
Lisa, do you do the Aussie Readers individual challenges? They have some really fun ones. The Aussie author quota makes me read much more widely.

I never expect to win ..."I love finding tricky task books, too. It really broadens my genre reading and new author finds. My husband has given up asking why on earth I’m reading something and getting the answer ‘It has a pink cover’ or ‘the author’s name starts with Y.’

Finished the cycling midwives book. It was really good! Focussed more on the patient cases and the Docklands society than the nuns and midwives although a couple are there we know eg Chummy and old Sister Monica. It was really interesting as well as funny and sad.And that’s my cap reached
Found a cycling book. Don't know why I didn't think of it earlier, it's been sitting there on my bedside shelf for weeks!
. Those midwives cycled all over the place. I'll have a good crack at getting it finished.
That cycling task is a toughie. I keep hoping Don Q will pop up in my current book because they talk about literature a lot haha maybe they’ll have fish and chips instead.
