It is sooo green here. It's gorgeous. Don't know if you're going to make it to Wales, but it's even greener there. I love Wales. Yes, people here are pretty mellow about the rain. But of they weren't they'd never get anything done or do stuff. I'm glad you're having a wonderful time. It's a wonderful country.

Awesome. I saw that first line in the points section and was like wow, someone hates audiobooks.😳🤣🤣 Glad normal rules still apply.

35559 It's awesome to read that there's not a detriment for over-reading. I said 4- 5 books because that's been my average lately but with audio I can possibly double that.

Also, did anyone notice in the rules that it said ALL audiobookd would count as 100 pages regardless of length, but later in post it said that only for books without a gr listing. Do we know which is the rule this time?

35559 I'm so down with reading for the mods. I find the colours harder. I always attempt to use TT as a means of getting through what I've been putting off for the last year or two, but still haven't returned to the library. So my colour choices are limited. And I'm trying not to add more "new" books. I mean, I will, of course, but I'm really trying to read what I have. At least in the beginning. 🤣So if y'all don't mind, I'm gonna scour the mods lists for books that I'd really like to return to the library.🫤
I will limit myself to five planned books at a time however. Because that's about what i read in a month. So I'm not taking over or anything.

My husband is from Birmingham but went to uni here, which is why we're here. He loved it.

It's a good thing you love spreadsheets! 😆. You're defo in the right group because after education, IT seems to be the popular job here. I majored in archaeology & anthropology, swiftly became a stay at home mom and work in admin now. But I'm with you all on the crafting/hobbies front.

He was on tour and it was my 18th birthday. It was a tuesday night and I wanted to go clubbing for the first time legally. I chose the one with the longest line. It happened to be a goth club on an S&M night. 😂😂😂

35559 I just read all your intro posts and I am impressed with the number of educators we've got. And the number of crafty folks; crocheting, journaling, knitting, baking, and kind of gardening 🤣. We are definitely an interesting team. I'm so glad to be part of it.

Shannon, what's your major btw?

Kerri, nice blog. I've bookmarked it too.

My pronouns are she/her. I'm a Texan living in England. I've been here for 20 years. Sadly, i don't think I'll ever make it back to central TX, mostly cos I can't afford it. But I love England, well I love my husband, so yay. And it's fun being a tourist in America. I obvs love reading, coffee, wine, my little Jack Russell, and nail polish. I just started doing yoga in the mornings but have fallen in love with that, too. I've been on teams with at least one of you before (hi Nanci) and am looking forward to chatting with y'all.

35559 Finally updating my tasks.
Since my first book of the challenge, nothing has been quite as good. Most of them have been three-star reads, with two being 3.5 stars and rounded up. One book was absolutely unbearable, so i dnf-ed it.
The Alice Network by Kate Quinn ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Added 2019 - The WWI part was tense and interesting. The post WWII bit, not so much. It was a tale of two halves, a good half and a kind of dull half.
Let the Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Added 2016 - This is my favorite of the group. It lacked all the sexiness of modern vampire novels, which was refreshing. But every character was pretty pathetic or ugly or gross in some way. Other than being a little slow it was pretty good.
The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Added 2017 - Really good but i think I was hoping it would be as good as Circe.
The Guest List by Lucy Foley ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Added 2020 - This reminded me of And Then There Were None at first. However, it turned out to be very different. I thought the connections between the four ladies was a bit far fetched, two maybe, but not all four. The back and forth timeline didn't add anything either. But overall an emgrossing mystery/thriller
And Every Morning the Way Home Gets Longer and Longer by Fredrik Backman ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Added 2018 - How i wanted to like this one more. It was touching but there is just something about Backman's writing that doesn't work for me. I dnf-ed that Ove story like 20 pages in. This was better, but still too stylised.
To the Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf - DNF at 48%
Added 2016 - A tour de force of style over substance, the sentences just carried on and on, with only an occasional comma to separate thoughts. There were maybe two periods per page. I'm hardly exaggerating. And it jumped about in time. In one long ass "sentence" there would be forty different thoughts, with several subjects and verbs doing things in the present and past. Ugh. So not for me.

35559 I finished my first book for this challenge and it was a five star read for me! After 5 years, I finally plunked down the £12 for the paperback and was glad I did. I usually hate inner-monologues, but clearly not when it's a murderbot's. I can't wait for the next one, even though I will have to.

35559 Two years in a row I have set out read the weighty tome. I buy it and begin well, but something happens and it all falls to the wayside. Luckily for me, this year's book is not my sort of thing, so no set up for possible failure. However, I will try to finish both Gone With the Wind and Pillars next year. Happy reading to you all for 2023.
