35559 I loved both Lightning-Struck Heart and The House in the Cerulean Sea. They are so sweet and, the latter, wholesome. I saw a headline today about some Missouri man sentenced to life for caging and dismembering a woman. Life is truly horrific sometimes. So, I appreciate the super saccharine tone of TJK and escaping into mind and heart of a plain old-fashioned good guy protagonist.

35559 I've started fourth wing. Not really sure it's my thing. I am only about 10% in. For some reason i thought this was a WWI LGBTQ book, like Regeneration. Don't know why i thought that.

35559 Thanks for the update, Suzanne. Y'all, we are doing amazingly well. I was a little lacking in my reading this month. But i hope to hit it out of the park for the last one.

35559 I have two more mod tower claims to finish. I claimed them so that it would force me to read them. I keep bumping them to the bottom of my pile. But i have physically had them checked out of the library since covid or just after! I just started fate's edge which should only take a few days. And then I will begin the Goldfinch. However, i also have the expats, which won the Edgar Award for Best First Novel (2013). I can read that one for a chipmunk task, and start a mod tower one after
Also, I'll have my 500-599 finished tomorrow.

I'm reading Half Lives The Unlikely History of Radium by Lucy Jane Santos . The audiobook doesn't have a cover, but has the right narrator. My cover does look like the default page cover, Half Lives The Unlikely History of Radium by Lucy Jane Santos . Because we can't add editions anymore and must request an add, which i can't be bothered with, I tend to find the closest in cover but with my page count or narrator in audio. Most of the time, I'm not fussed about the cover. However, in challenges the cover is important. So just wanted to check if I could use the default cover, which is the same as the audiobook I'm listening to. I wasn't asking in particular for this book but in general. I've had to use the book closest to my version in pub date and cover for a few of my audiobooks. Fool's Gold being one. There wasn't an audio on there, so i just used the default edition as my read book.

35559 The edition I'm reading doesn’t have a cover picture? It's the same as the default, so would that work should we need to reference it?

35559 I've been mia and have come back to so many post and so much done. Hubby and I went to the last Long Division festival in Wakefield this weekend. We stayed with his friends in a little village called Everton outside of Doncaster. So i got to see a bit of the country I've not seen before. Wakefield was awesome and beautiful and funky. Highly recommend a visit. And I've seen Doncaster now, so can't tick it off. I wouldn't recommend Doncaster as a place to visit. As we drove in, there was a big slogan art piece on the side of a building. It said:
Live
Cope
Give
Hope
Cope? What kind of inspiration is that? How depressing.

Anyway, back home and ready to read.

35559 I've reserved The Fourth Wing from my library, but there are only 3 copies and I'm 13th in line. 😐 Hopefully, it won't take too long. Luckily, reserving that meant i saw that one of the books I've got out is now reserved, so that's gone straight to the top of the pile. The Secrets of Hartwood Hall is very popular too. Anyone read that one yet?

35559 I'm so glad you all are all over the chipmunk tasks. I'm going to focus on the three books I've claimed for the mod tower. I haven't even started on my paperbacks, yet. Thank heavens for audiobooks.

Oh Shannon, that's so painful. ☹️ I'm so glad you are getting some pain relief. When i had my wisdom tooth out on the bottom i was so worried about getting dry socket in it. Take it easy.

35559 Kerri, I hope you feel better soon and that your recovery is speedy. Surgery sucks, even when it ultimately makes you better. Anaesthesia makes me 🤢🤢🤢

35559 Go team! It's awesome that we've hit our book targets. Not that it's a priority, but I've never been on a winning team in any of my NBRC challenges. That's several TTs, Wheels and the floor is lava. Not gonna lie, it feels good being at the top. If it all goes topsy-turvy and we end up near the bottom, that's okay too, cos this group is very interesting and a lot of fun to be in. Plus, I have already returned three very old library books.

Also, a little reading up date. I'm only going to get Kushiels Dart and Bel Canto in before month end. So all other books listed will be June.

35559 Is this cover bright blue or dark blue?
Bel Canto by Ann Patchett

Also, do I claim an rt for my pale pink cover and one of you captains fills it in? Well, I claimed RT34, but if it's not right let me know and I'll delete it.

35559 Luckily, most of us are vaccinated against measles. Sadly, there has been a decline in vaccination rates, globally, I believe, but definitely in the UK, due in part to covid-19. Outbreaks worldwide are increasing, which is scary cos, as Suzanne said, it's crazy contagious. Like 9 out of 10 people exposed will contract the virus. I'm glad your grandson's school is taking it seriously.
