35559 Thanks Halli!

Um....what do I do with it? I tried looking around at the threads, but don't see what we do with the stuff we collect.

35559 My favorite quote for the task for Academy II quest:

“The best way to not feel hopeless is to get up and do something. Don’t wait for good things to happen to you. If you go out and make some good things happen, you will fill the world with hope, you will fill yourself with hope.”
― Barack Obama

A close second:
“All you need is love. But a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt.”
― Charles M. Schulz

35559 As part of the Academy - part II quest, the first task is to visit the Goodreads blog, News & Interviews and check out some of the articles and report on the most interesting here in the Tavern.

Like Sally906, I found Bestselling Authors' Exclusive Insights on Their Biggest Books quite interesting, although most of the books mentioned I haven't read and don't plan to. It is enlightening to see where an author's head is at when they come up with a great book idea, though.

The article I really enjoyed was Jennifer Weiner on the Power of Women's Stories and Killing 'Chick Lit'. She talks about her book, Mrs. Everything by Jennifer Weiner and how it evolved during the writing due to current affairs like the 2016 election and the Me Too movement. She also talks about the evolution of the genre or label 'Chick Lit.'

There were a lot more articles and interviews I peeked at and I know I'll be back to this section of GR in the future! Thanks, NBRC, for the impetus to explore the site more!

35559 Lets do GAME - I have books that can work for any of the letters, so you can choose which other ones you want to take.

And yes, I've been trying to read over some of the other quests to get an idea of how they are set up. If you have any ideas please share away!!
Dec 22, 2020 08:09PM

35559 Yes - thanks for clearing that up!!!
Dec 22, 2020 02:48PM

35559 Thanks Halli!

You said:
that will put you at 8 XP, 12 HP (I THINK you have that one mixed up on your log - should be 12, not 7 from what I can tell) & 7 AP.

If I had to use 5 HP to kill the sewer rat, wouldn't that reduce my HP to 7? (12 to start - 5 to kill the sewer rat = 7) Or am I looking at this wrong?

35559 Hello fellow imbibers!

I have a question regarding the Book Reserve - can I use any book that I started after I joined this adventure (plus my 15 books from the welcome basket) for any quests unless the quest specifically says otherwise (like the Winter Holidays)?

Thanks!!
Dec 16, 2020 10:02AM

35559 Thanks Halli,
I've been looking at other people's threads and figuring it out as I go along.

Have you read any others books towards our spell-out? 7, 8 and 9 are all I have left to finish the apprenticeship. I have plenty of books so you can pick which letters you want (and if you want to change the word, that's no problem either.)

I think I can figure out the different quests, but I'm not sure when to try to kill monsters and which ones to choose and any strategy needed.
