I think if you're writing with the sole aim of writing a bestseller etc, then it is far easier to be discouraged because being published/good sales/bestseller lists etc are never guaranteed. It is important to write what you enjoy writing, If you love it, then the chances are that other people will too. I wrote as a hobby long before I was published, and did it because I loved it. If I ceased to be published tomorrow I would still write. So I think it's important to write something you love. If you find yourself demotivated by things you see in the industry, then try and pay less attention. For example if going on Twitter discourages you, then limit your time on Twitter. And don't forget that many people post their successes, but not the struggle it took to get there. Writing is a brilliant job, but it's hard work and it is never easy. Good luck! Sarah.(less)

I've written just about every profession possible in my 85 books :) One of the heroes in my current book is a carpenter, and another is a therapist. The heroine of my current release How To Keep A Secret is a stay at home mum, although towards the end of the book she does start to follow her passion - and that is the key. All my characters (male and female) are following their passions. For example, Frankie in Sunset in Central Park is a gardener. She's good at it, partly because she loves it. Eva is a cook - again, it's what she loves. I think if there is a pattern at all, it's that I like my characters to be doing something that interests them. Generally if you do something you love, you are good at it. Hope this helps xxxx(less)

“Life isn’t smooth, but it’s the bumps that help us find out who we are. And it’s handling the bumps that gives us courage.”
Sarah Morgan, Once a Ferrara Wife...

“From Bought: The Greek's Innocent Virgin ... He drew in a long breath. ‘You are very difficult to please.’
‘No, I’m not. I’m easy to please. When you peel my orange for breakfast, you please me. When you rub my shoulders before I go to sleep, that pleases me. When you defend me from a nasty comment, that pleases me. I’m easy to please, Angelos.’ Her heart was pounding. ‘Just don’t try and buy me.

Sarah Morgan

“I love being single. It's my choice, not a sentence. It's not a state that I'm in until someone better comes along. Don't feel sorry for me. I love my life."

"Don't you want someone to snuggle up to at night?"

"No. this way, I never have to fight for the duvet, I can sleep diagonally across the bed and I can read until four in the morning."

"A book can't take the place of a man!"

"I disagree. A book can give you most things a relationship can. It can make you laugh, it can make you cry, it can transport you to different worlds and teach you things. You can even take it out to dinner. And if it bores you, you can move on. Which is pretty much what happens in real life.”
Sarah Morgan, Sunset in Central Park
