I'll definitely be following your challenge closely, Inkeri. It sounds like a very interesting challenge!

These are all wonderful goals!

Emad, The Idiot sounds good to me :)

Roseanne, I hope the group lives up to your expectations!
Welcome to the group and have a lovely Christmas!

Would anyone be interesting in doing a Dostoevsky in Jan?
Thinking of doing either The Idiot, Demons on Notes from Underground.

Welcome to the group, Inkeri!
That definitely sounds like a great challenge! It would be interesting focusing it on adaptations of novels, but that's a bit extreme :P
I hope you enjoy the group!

Now I really want to read more Dostoevsky....

I've (somehow) finished my 2013 Challenge, and now I'm just enjoying my Christmas reads. Set myself a high goal: 10 books over the next 2 weeks, but it should be fun! I generally don't do a lot at Christmas, so I can't wait to seriously get back into reading. It's been a bit hit and miss the last few weeks!
1 down, 9 books to go!

That sounds pretty interesting. I found Percy Jackson alright, although I couldn't really be bothered to finish the series. I'll put it on my TR list though!

Go for it Arya! I don't mind

Clearly we have similar tastes!

This thread is to discuss our planned reading and our reads for the first Genre Month - Historical.
Hopefully we'll get a Group Read set up, and I'm sure some of our books will overlap. If you really want to read a book, and other people have shown an interest, don't forget that you can set up a Buddy-Read with others!

T.S. Eliot is by far my favorite poet. The Lovesong of J. Alfred Prufrock is my favourite poem in the world!
The Book Thief is also amazing!
I might have to join you in reading The Iliad/The Odyssey, The Idiot and Demons!

Rachael, I've been meaning to read that. What's it like?

I completely agree. It seemed like yesterday I was picking up my exam results. And that was back in August!

I hope the group lives up to your expectations, Clare!

I agree with Faye, that's a lot of new people!
Welcome everyone! I hope you enjoy the group!

Go for it, Marie! Read what you want! :)
Bouchra, I can't wait to hear what you think about Atlas Shrugged. It's length has always put me off...

I know we already have one for January, but considering the hoard of books I've just taken out of my school library, it might be interesting to see what people are planning to read over Christmas!
My planned reading for Christmas:
The Year of the FloodRosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead1984The ChrysalidsJamaica InnThe Private Memoirs and Confessions of a Justified SinnerCandide and Other StoriesDoctor Faustus2001: A Space Odyssey

To Kill a Mockingbird has got to be one of my favourite reads of 2013! Seriously, it's such an amazing book!
I haven't read that Atwood book, you'll definitely have to let me know how you find it!
