118012 I'm editing my reads for January, after not getting as much reading as I wished done over Christmas.

My new list:
The White Queen - Genre Challenge
Catch-22 - Genre Challenge
1984
Doctor Faustus
Candide and Other Stories
The Private Memoirs and Confessions of a Justified Sinner (continue reading)
Paradise Regained

118012 I've dabbled in fanfiction, but nothing massively serious. I just can't find the motivation to keep on going, or even plan it enough to write anything

118012 Sophie, I'm very jealous of your novel-writing, I'd love to write a novel!

1. Foundation by Isaac Asimov

118012 I've been meaning to read some Le Guin. Why don't you like it so much?

118012 Just finished Foundation by Isaac Asimov. My first book of 2014!

118012 This is a place to catalogue what books you've just finished.

118012 Also, if everyone could join in the 2014 Reading Challenge within the group, that would help massively. It would give us a far easier way of counting books.

118012 Allison, you'll need to put a figure into the 2014 Challenge to start it counting. Also, as Chase said, you'll need to make sure the end-date is set. Otherwise it just counts into your 'read' shelf.
118012 Jamie, I'm feeling the exact same way. I've tried and failed when it has come to Catch-22, and I'd better give it another go!

118012 Aha, I'm pushing for that goal too, Kassandra!

118012 Ginny, there's a post about that here

:)

118012 I'd say they need to be books about either historical events or purely of the 'historical' genre, rather than books set in a previous era with little to do with the history.

118012 The Group Bookshelf hasn't really been used yet, although I do see some books already on there, posted by another member.

Ultimately, I'm not sure how much use the Group Bookshelf will be. If people want to put on the books they've read, it might be a good evaluation of everything people have read.

Currently, anyone can add books to the bookshelf. It's quite a nice feature, so I don't see why it should be limited just to moderators.

118012 Welcome, Mtscoastergirl! I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I hope it isn't too bad, and that everything goes okay!

Alex, you can use whatever means you want! Honestly, this group isn't massively formulaic. It's a place where people can get encouragement and update how they're getting on. Feel free to do whatever you want to do!

Shelley, I have the iPhone app and it doesn't come up on there. I just log in via Safari and go on the Desktop version.

118012 Both Divergent and Delirium have been on my to-read list forever!

118012 There's a lot that I'd love to similarly read, if I get time away from classics. You've got a really great selection there, ones that I'm sure you will enjoy!

Good luck to you!
