118012 Aha yeah I don't think I'm that far that I need a whole database.

That being said, I've been organising for half an hour and I'm only into D...

118012 Just a quick update, I've cleared out a lot of my old YA stuff that I'm not gonna read again (apart from the stuff that mean a lot to me), so now everything actually fits on a single stack, rather than having to double stack!

Time to order it all now...
118012 I adored Ari as a character! His voice just comes across as so real and grounded. But the story still has that magical tone of being a well written book with a lot of musings.

I hope you enjoy it Amanda and Renee!

118012 Ah, The French Lieutenant's Woman is a wonderful book, Sonia! Neo-Victorianism at its finest!

118012 I'll definitely be utilising this to catch up with my reading challenge! I'll go for level 1!

118012 Today is the great day of cleaning out my bookshelves...

Please save me.
118012 Hi everyone,

Thank you so much for this discussion in this thread, it's been very illuminating and useful to see people's attitudes and opinions towards this.

For the buddy reads aspect, I've just updated the first post in the request thread highlighting that people should request a specific book rather than just posting their tbr read list. I hope this helps fix that aspect!

As for the Group Reads, it is one of our main focus as mods to try and figure out how to get more participation and interest. For this year, we did drop our number from 5 to 3, in the hope that it would get a bit more participation throughout the year. For moving it down to 1, it is an idea for next year, but we are aware that many of our readers have a big variety in tastes, so limiting it to just one book for such a large, multi-focused group may go against what we want to do here.

And we do have a lot of silent and inactive members. I think this is probably common in big groups, and the way we are set up with a yearly focus, so we have a lot of turn around that more casual people may not keep up with. That being said, there is not a lot we can do to change that, it is a part of our group.

118012 I was just going to do a series thread, like what was done for A Song of Ice and Fire, but it depends on what people want!

And Sonya, I would, but I was planning on reading LOTR again over Christmas! + I need to focus on shorter books considering I'm rather behind on my challenge.

118012 I'm planning to start this week!

I was thinking of making it quite a casual thing so people can just go at their own pace and report back whenever.

118012 I added another bit, to read 3 comics!

There'es loads I want to get into, so I'd love to start with:

Gotham City Sirens, Volume 1: Union
Batwoman, Vol. 1: Hydrology
Alias, Vol. 1

118012 I'm glad to see so much interest!

To be honest, it's a series that can people can also discuss if they're not currently reading it, which is great fun!

Should I set up a thread?

118012 I'm planning on re-reading the Harry Potter series over this summer, and wondered if anyone wanted to join me for any/all of them?

I'm not sure of my schedule yet, so I'm pretty flexible if anyone does want to join.

118012 I've got several 'criteria' for this summer!

1) Re-read the Harry Potter series (not really a criteria)
2) Read books I actually own
3) Catch up to 'on target' for my reading challenge
4) Read 3 comics

These are my aims at least. Somehow the stack of books on my bookcase has ballooned massively recently. So I'm planning on sitting down over the next few days and going through my bookcase and donating any books that are super old and I know I don't really care for (a lot from when I was in my early teens). So hopefully that'll help me feel a bit more under control with the books I have!

118012 Ah I so wanted to read Fun Home! I might just buy it to be honest. I cant find it in any of my local libraries.

118012 I honestly can't wait for this! It's going to be so awesome.

Renee, The Price of Salt is a great book, and one of the first to actually show a happy ending for a lesbian couple. Make sure to watch the 2016 film Carol of you haven't already. It gets the feel of the novel spot on!

118012 Camille, sending you congratulations and hugs to all of you! Thats such a wonderful name!
118012 I finished this last night!

I'm on holiday right now so I can't write a full review til the weekend, but I honestly adored this book! I spent the majority of the book nodding along to Ari's thoughts and feelings, and its good to see the representation that sometimes people struggle to deal with things and emotions and generally just feel too much!
118012 It's rather short, and a really good read. But it has a really wonderful story. It's just a shame people are often put off Steinbeck because of it being taught in schools!

118012 I made the mistake of putting all the books I had at uni back on my bookcase.

Do you ever just suddenly realise you have too many books? Like I honestly don't know how I've accumulated so many in my 19 years of existence...

Might limit myself to only reading books I actually own!
