118012 Apologies for not posting a lot here! Things have been manic!
118012 The Kite Runner is perhaps one of the best known Middle Eastern books published in the recent years.

Discussion starts Feb 1st!
118012 For our first YA read of the year, we're diving into Cinder by Marissa Meyer, the first book in a very popular series!

Discussion starts Feb 1st
118012 For all the romantics in the group, and people wanting something a little different, we're reading Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell for February!

This has been a popular book over the last year, so I hope people like it!

118012 So far I have read:

1. When Books Went to War: The Stories that Helped Us Win World War II by Molly Guptill Manning
2. Gratitude by Oliver Sacks
3. The Price of Salt by Patricia Highsmith
4. The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey

118012 Finally completed The Price of Salt by Patricia Highsmith!

A wonderful novel (with definitely complex characters). It was interesting having seen the film before reading the book to explore how they adapted it, and what they changed. In case anyone hasn't seen Carol yet, definitely watch it. It's a beautiful film!

I'll definitely try and read more of Patricia Highsmith. I didn't realise she had done the Mr Ripley series, which I've seen on my parent's bookshelves for a long time. Though I've heard her novel Strangers on a Train is very good.
118012 I finished this a few days ago and found it a really intriguing read.

I too was quite surprised, that there was honestly little about direct 'gratitude'. Instead, I think it was Sacks' way of highlighting the general gratitude you should have towards life, not so much a specific gratitude. He was generally grateful for his life, and his experiences and that really showed within the essays.

118012 I have the pleasure of going to Stratford Upon Avon for the day tomorrow. So hopefully that will kick start my Shakespeare year nicely!

Middlesex
The Long Earth
H is for Hawk
The Danish Girl

plus I already have my next set of reads planned out...
118012 I'm going to be starting this in the next few days!

Henry VI, Part 3
Henry VIII
King John
Love Labour's Lost
Measure for Measure

118012 Hi Sonia,

Just above the comment box, to the right, you see a button saying 'add book/author'. Here you can type in a book/author and it will insert the link for you!

118012 Finally gotten round to starting The Price of Salt. I watched the movie adaptation, Carol, earlier in the week and adored it! (I recommend everyone should watch it!)

So excited to see what the book is like.
