I really hope you enjoy The Book Thief. One of the best books I read in 2013!

I know there is the general recommendation to read some Homer before. Do you think it's worth it?

I was battling between whether to buy Brothers, Ulysses, or War and Peace at a bookshop yesterday, although I did eventually pick Ulysses. Although I will definitely be buying the other two some time soon , or get them out the library...

Welcome everyone to the group! We're so close to 2014!

I'm half way through Foundation, the first book in Asimov's The Foundation Trilogy. Very interesting so far, although I must admit I enjoy Orson Scott Card's Ender's Game series more. Although, they are remarkably different. Can't wait to get through the next two books in the series. I love combined editions!

I read this this year, and along with Rebecca in the Classics Group Read, it's one of my favourite books this year! I'll definitely be taking part in the discussion.

Can't wait to read this along with my other picks for this months genre!

I can't wait for the discussions to begin!

Luckily, I don't go back to school until the 6th Jan, so I have a good 5 days of pure reading to kick-start 2014. That's if I can get all my work done in the next few days!

I fantastically got my 16-book Dickens collection, which is beyond beautiful. Although I did have to re-arrange my 'classics' bookcase to fit them in. It's now spanning 4 shelves.
My mum surprisingly also got me the 'Great Loves' collection, also by the Book People. It's basically 20 less-known shorter novels/short stories/essays by well known authors. There's some Tolstoy, Chekov, Freud and Fitzgerald in there. I was super surprised when I got it!
I also got a few other books:
If On A Winters Night A Traveller by Italo Calvino - I may have read this already. Weird, but amazing book!
The Foundation Trilogy by Isaac Asimov - been wanting to get this for ages, and I've just started reading it.
Ivanhoe by Sir Walter Scott
We by (I don't know how to spell his name)
Hands down my best Christmas for books so far. It was literally all I got this Christmas, but I'm beyond happy with it. I blame the Book People for selling too cheap collections...

Happily reading now that I've hit my 50 book target for this year. Might see if I can push to 60 for 2014!
