i'd be curious to know how these authors were selected? If as I understand it, it was a call put out to RWA (romance writers of america) and these were the author's that responded, I would be more accepting of the lack of diversity because that is a fail on RWA's put to publicize (IMHO) - but if they were generated by GR based on book popularity etc, I'd be less forgiving
WTF? No representation from men, no colour, no GLBT, no indie writers! Come on, what a schmaltzy chocolate box list of books/authors! The list is so out of touch with the diversity of the 'Romance' genre. Some of the best romances I have read in the last year have been M/M written by men.
You know I understand being upset at under-representation but you still have to give respect to the woman writers who did make the list. If you really have this big of an issue then write Goodreads but continuously posting on here that you can't believe there are only white woman on the lists is doing nothing but taking away from their accomplishments no matter how much the list is lacking diversity.
Wow all this complaining when they're just trying to do something new. I personally don't want to read anything that's not m/f so I appreciate all of these choices and will be adding a lot of them to shelves. I do understand the desire for more variety but anything m/m or f/f is in the minority. People of color is another issue and I agree should be represented better. And this is only the first go-around. Asking for something goes over better than demanding or slamming their efforts.
Guys
Scrambling by Lex Valentine is a M/M romance and it's on this list.
I agree there's not enough diversity, but at least there's one LGTB book :/

Guys, it's women that built this genre from the ground up and it's women dismissing the world's ridicule of the genre and it's mostly women writing. So give these women their due. Some of them have been in the genre decades. Enough of the "where are the menz?"

The M/M romance group has nearly 17.000 members, and that's just readers on GR alone. The M/M book genre is growing quickly, as more women and men take the leap and give it a try. When it comes down to it,its all about the love and fantastic story telling! What could be better than not just one hot gorgeous romantic male hero...but two. ;-)
I also noticed the diversity is a bit scarce in the list of authors, though some really good romance authors are shown here. How were these authors chosen? I thought it was volunteer, but maybe Goodreads reached out to them?

Can someone please tell me what LGBTQI is?? Feeling kinda stupid here!
Dear Goodreads,When you and the participating authors state that they will be here "all week," does it end today, Friday, or over the weekend?
I am very grateful that at least 4 of my favorite authors have chosen to give their time and attention to their readers. First coming across Kresley Cole's page announcing her participation, thus cluing me in, delighted me, a chronically-ill, recently bedridden reader. Finding that there were so many authors, including more of my favorites, willing to share their work and themselves just made my day.
Please let me/us know the timeline of when the week officially ends.
My regards.

First, you need some Indie authors representing more. Considering you are owned by Amazon and tons of indie authors are on amazon and goodreads, you would they could be included.
Second, as an LGBTQ ally, I am really disappointed that there seems to be an under-representation above for that, as well.
Third, do only white women write romance novels? Am I missing the diversity here? Where is it?
