I've totally forgotten how much I enjoy Jill Shalvis' brand of romance, then I read this book and I reminded of the reasons why.
The banter, the snarky humor, the flawed heroine, the swoony hero, the chemistry, the small town setting -- I could go on and on. I enjoyed this book so much. Darcy is far from being a likable heroine. She's prickly, snarky and stubborn and yet...I still loved her character. I rooted for her. I want her to find not only her HEA but herself in the process. This book was so bad. And I never thought I'd say that about a book Jill Shalvis wrote.
The timeline was screwy, important facts were inconsistent, and the back and forth between the MCs was annoying. Mostly AJ being a dumby, but Darcy could learn to be stronger.

'Still the One' is like a game you see at an amusement park: it looks amazing and you can't wait to ride it but once you do you're like "WTH? What did I get myself into? I did not sign for this" but then you'll be "Well, it's not that bad, it's getting better" and later you'll be back to "No, no. I want off this ride NOW!" and at the end you'll be "Well… it wasn't that bad."

Darcy has three rules #1 Don't stress the little stuff #2 Never let a certain man into her heart #3 Don't take crap from anyone. After a near death experience she started making rules and setting her life in order. She got out of the wheelchair, thanks to the man who is the reason for rule #2. AJ Colton, super sexy six feet too inches of muscle and physical therapist. Poor Darcy she has gone without so long she felt as if she had been "re-virignized" at 26, and it didn't help with Mr. Hot and Un

Still the One is, unfortunately, the most disappointing installment I've read in the Animal Magnetism series. Darcy and AJ, the romantic leads at the forefront of this novel, are fascinating characters in their own right. A travel photographer for National Geographic, Darcy has always been a dare-devil, living life to the max. When she meets with an accident that leaves her unable to walk until after intense physical therapy, the course of her life is forever altered. AJ, her physical therapist

Still the One centers around wild child Darcy Stone, Dr. Wyatt Stone's baby sister, and her romantic interest A.J. Colten. It can be read as a standalone. Middle child Wyatt was featured in Then Came You while responsible big sister Zoe's story appeared in All I Want.
The Stone trio had all been adversely impacted by their unconventional childhoods with their peripatetic parents, who were more focused on their foreign diplomat careers than on their children. All three have abandonment issues ...more

Still the One by Jill Shalvis is a 2015 Berkley publication.
I've been reading a lot of Jill Shalvis' books recently trying to catch up on some of her series and so far this Animal Magnetism arc with Wyatt, Zoe, and Darcy has been one of my favorites.
Darcy was already emotionally damaged before a near fatal car accident sent her into a nightmare of physical therapy and a long, long road to recovery. Falling for A.J., her PT, was not a good idea, especially since he's made it clear, he's not int ...more
I can't find the words to describe how mad I am right now. What might've been an easy read was completely ruined by the heroine, the spoiled, selfish, high maintaince self-centered brat, that you must wait on her every single whim lest she'll throw a fit whining how undesirable and unlovable she is.

An incredibly sexy sweet moving read. Just like maple syrup on hot cakes. Jill Shalvis has now become one of my instant go to authors.
Darcy Stone is a wonderer. Never having a home base as a child, she explores the world seeking adventure to write about in travel magazines. But a horrible car accident has grounded her during her recovery and rehabilitation in Sunshine, Idaho with her brother, sister and the sexy ex-Navy, Physical Therapist AJ Colten.

It's been awhile since I last read a Jill Shalvis book and in her newest release, Still the One, Ms. Shalvis once again never fails to deliver a book filled with humor, banter, swoony heroes and of course, heartfelt romance.

Another fabulous story and beautiful romance by Jill Shalvis! Loved this! :)
There was definitely Animal Magnetism between AJ and Darcy...
I loved this story. Darcy was badly injured in a car accident and AJ is her physical therapist and her brother’s best friend. We’ve met both characters in previous stories but this is where it all comes together. Darcy hasn’t seen much love in her life and AJ has been in love before but it didn’t end well. Both of them hide behind antagonism and indifference instead of facing the real feelings they have for each other.

Parts of this book I really liked. After all, it is Jill Shalvis. Other parts, however, were just bland and things I felt I had read before in too many other romance novels. Over-used tropes and tired cliches abounded here. Worst of all, I never really got a good 'feel' for Darcy and AJ's romance. It just happened, and then it was over.

4.5 Stars - Author Jill Shalvis is masterful at taking flawed, damaged characters and making them loveable. Darcy is hard to love, or she tries to be, but AJ sees right through her gruff exterior and loves her anyway. This is their addictive story with a great catch-up on other characters in the series but it is easily read as a standalone.

4.5 stars - My review cross-posted from Wit and Sin: http://witandsin.blogspot.com/2015/03...
Still the One is one of those books you’ll open up and find yourself swept away by the story. It has two strong, caring, completely endearing leads and a whole lot of heat, humor, and heart. I’ve read Darcy and AJ’s story twice so far and both times it was nearly impossible for me to put the book down, even when real life demanded my attention. Jill Shalvis’s writing is simply that engaging.

I was lucky enough to get a review copy thanks to the publisher through NetGalley. I'm a huge fan of Jill Shalvis and absolutely love her Animal Magnetism series.
I loved Darcy Stone and all her grumpiness from the first moment we met her. Darcy and A.J. were both such fun characters. They were both insanely attracted to one another but neither was willing to risk getting hurt for the longest time. In fact, A.J. had actually rejected Darcy when she tried to kiss him at one point. One of the things I can always count on from Jill Shalvis is a sexy, funny read. So I was somewhat surprised to find myself shedding tears over her latest Sunshine, Idaho story Still the One. The heroine, Darcy, was in a very bad car accident that almost killed her. And it's left her with scars both physical and mental. But it's her not quite ready for primetime knee that got to me. As someone who has wiped out in restaurants, stores, parking lots, I know what it's like to not be able to trust y

Darcy Stone has the hots for A.J. Colten, and he has the hots for her too, yet they’re both not willing to act on their feelings. Darcy acted on her feelings and A.J. rejected her, because he didn’t want to be hurt again.

What a powerful novel. Shalvis takes readers deep into her characters’ lives for a truly heartwarming (and at times heartbreaking) story. The combination of loss and recovery was sharply poignant, not only allowing readers to connect with the character emotionally, but also allowing them to experience part of it for themselves. She develops her setting in a picturesque manner that is very easy to picture. This may be the 6th novel in Shalvis’ Animal Magnetism series, but it can also easily be re

My favorite things about this book:
Darcy - she's a free spirit with a good heart. She's been through a lot but she's strong. I love that she rescues therapy dogs and finds them placement, using her own money to do so.
AJ- he's sweet and patient with Darcy. He also doesn't put up with her crap.
The snarky and witty banter in this book was really good. The banter between AJ and Darcy was really good and really gave them a lot of chemistry.

Another lovely romantic entry in the Animal Magnetism series. Jill Shalvis is my favorite contemporary author for a reason - I love her humor, which is never too much. I love her characters, which are flawed but completely loveable and her storylines are never overwhelmed with too much angst. In other words, they tend to be perfect. And this one was no different.

I'm a Jill Shalvis fan. I had been in a bit of a retirement of sorts where Ms. Shalvis is concerned, after reading/inhaling the first 7 Lucky Harbor and the first 4 of the Animal Magnetism books, I took a break. (I still have to finish up the Lucky Harbor series.) The Animal Magnetism series draws me in because I'm an animal person and I worked in veterinary offices in college. My mother also worked in several offices as a child, so the fact that I am not a veterinarian is kind of odd. Wha ...more

Still The One is exactly what I had expected from a Jill Shalvis book. It was heartwarming, fun, engaging, and sexy. What I didn't expect was to sob my heart out at some point in the book. Funny story -- I was reading this book inside the theatre. My parents invited me to watch a film with them, and as much I had liked the movie, I couldn't help but to sneak in a little bit so I can finish reading this book. There was this one scene in the movie that triggered my tears (which was weird since it

Darcy Stone and AJ Colton both have valid reasons for not getting romantically involved. Still smarting from AJ’s previous rejection, Darcy begrudgingly agrees to help him secure grant funding for his physical therapy patients. AJ is just a reticent as he and Darcy will have to pretend to be a couple; an idea that he is much too eager to explore for real. Can AJ and Darcy get beyond the past and find a future together?
