Ashford SampleIt Loom Review

Junior (Anders Lervad Loom) and The Loom Without a Name (at the moment)

So I found out about the new Ashford SampleIt Rigid Heddle loom a bit late; I don't subscribe to any of the magazines and I've been a bit scarce on Ravelry lately, so when I found out about it, I was very intrigued. See, I've owned Junior since 2009, and have been on the lookout for another small rigid heddle loom ever since he came here, because he's the loom I use most often, without a doubt. And yet sometimes, when I'm...

My goal was to end the chapter at the end of the notebook. I barely made it!

I'll be sitting there, writing; anywhere, really, and for that moment--in that moment--everything is aligned; everything is where it should be. The world--my world--feels full of promise. Feels true.

The pen in my hand, the notebook's paper beneath the faint scritch scratch of the nib, slowly filling up with words of a story I will have no ending to quite yet, although there's a scene in my mind that has been there for years that might yet appear in this story, finally.

I write, and the world a...

Determination

Determination. Photo taken 1/5/13 in Southern Ohio.

I went for a walk in the woods today. It was a short walk; about 45 minutes of twisting and turning and bending and just plain walking (tell me that's not a workout!) but I was there, it was warm enough (although the wind is still bitingly cold), and... I wanted to smell the woods again. Despite the fact that I wasn't really dressed for it (although I did wear my hiking shoes, they aren't really insulated), I ventured into the near-silence of...

Resolutions for the New Year.--The Year of Completion is ...

Resolutions for the New Year.

--The Year of Completion is the big one; I'll be posting mostly on Plethora about that.

--To take the time to do the things I love to do.

--To be more active.

--To eat real food. To experiment with recipes, as well.

--To hold my tongue when my words will not add to the conversation, especially when I intend to say something sarcastic.

--To find that corner of Silence, wherever I am.

--To be more charitable and less judging, even if the judging part is all in my head.

--...

And thus, the last day of the year.

Tomorrow brings a New Year, and new goals and new attempts and (I hope) new endings.

So, I'm going to do the traditional rundown of 2012...

In January, I mulched the garden. (Hmm, that's probably not going to happen this year.) I decluttered a bit. I redid my website (something I need to do this January, too.) I rearranged the library, which still isn't finished. I turned in the edits for Detour, and I cleaned.

In February, I started rewriting Scarecrows with a...
