So 2015 is over and done with!

2015 was the year I spent money on my house, or so it seemed. A new water heater, a new kitchen furnace, and work on my boiler as well. I also acquired two new nephews! It has been fun watching them grow. :)

2015 started out with some difficulty, with the three weeks of winter in February, and having to turn down my heat to 55F when it was minus whatever outside. But the new kitchen furnace should really help or eliminate the problems I ran into last year, even...

Christmas 2015

So another Christmas has come and gone, bringing with it lots of presents and oddly enough, warm weather.

One of those presents was a keyboard/case for my Kindle, which I'm typing on now. (And it just took me five minutes to realize that you have to hit the Function key to find the apostrophe; kind of awkward, but it's not that terrible, I guess. (Hitting the normal apostrophe key's spot is the Enter key, so if things look weird, that's why...)

But at least this one works, unlike the other keyb...

It's been thirteen years since Freedom Day. Thirteen years! How time has flown.

Winter Preparation

Yesterday, the heating guys came and installed a wall furnace in the kitchen. It was a lot of money, but it will eliminate the issue I had with the unbalanced system last winter--since the kitchen will now have heat, I won't have that black hole of coldness in the entry room and throughout the rest of the house.

This is a good thing! And makes me feel much better about the impending winter.

The weatherpeople are calling for frost/freeze this weekend, so I'll be bringing in my plants, including...

Cold snap!

It's too early to turn on the heat, however. Even though its 56F in my bedroom.

Rearranging

I've been rearranging. I touched (and moved) every single thing in my living room. Goal: a cozy place to relax.

This is the front half. So far, so good.

Sequels

The Uncrowned Queen,
sequel to By Any Other Name, is finished! 80,102 words, 75 days.
I have ideas for the next book already, but there are others in the wings as well...

Dilemma

Say you're a vampire.
Your best friend dies in a car accident. You are with him. The drunk driver of the truck who hits you doesn't die.
You're badly hurt. There's only one way you can heal yourself. Your friend is dead. His blood will not help you.
Your best friend had a prophetic dream about the accident and his subsequent death. He did not tell you about the dream, or tell the rest of your friends.
He contacted his sister, who has the peculiar talent to bring the dead b...

2015 Flood

So last Friday, I bought a new lawnmower. My Earthwise mower's battery died, and I decided that instead of buying a new battery, I'd try a new mower (more expensive, yes, but also 40 lbs lighter!) since the Earthwise had lasted me 6 1/2 years. I decided on the EGO mower, and Home Depot had the best price, so I picked one up last Friday.

Saturday morning, I mowed. Sunday was supposed to be Burlington. We packed up Dad's van, and I headed home to get things situated so that I could leave on time...
