Filling ALL the Spindles

I declared the "Fill All The Spindles" project finished yesterday afternoon, with eleven spindles left to fill (mostly newer ones I'd recently made.) my full spindles storage spots were full anyway, so I'm finishing up the last bit of fiber on the remaining spindles and calling it a day.
45 spindles in the picture, 21 made by me, 11 left, 10 made by me. (Those aren't pictured.)

Now, lots of plying!

Spinning

You'd never think that spinning your own yarn could be a subject fraught with drama, would you? I certainly didn't, back in 2010 when I made the decision to either learn to spin or sell my only remaining spindle (bought the year before along with three spinning wheels, which were later sold because I couldn't figure out how to use them.)

Initially, I purchased a few drop spindles made by 3GWoodworks on Etsy because I didn't have much money and while I had made some myself, they didn't really w...

Raspberries!

Two pickings today. Two quarts. I wasn't in this position last year until next week. I'm doomed. :)

Garden 2015

Raspberries ripening.

Picking currants.
Almost all the tomatoes are planted, along with the squash. The peas are starting to bloom, and I'm enjoying salads of various greens as well.
My lime tree is covered in blooms, and so is the Calamondin orange. The lemon has one bloom for now; the big orange tree is recovering nicely from the winter.
My apple trees have lots of apples. And I even have a handful of blueberries. :)
Garden 2015 is off to a good start.

And... my car did not need transmission work. It was a prior recall. It's now at the dealership's service center, hopefully getting fixed!

I'm off this week, and have been busy in the garden. The squash and cucumbers are planted; the tomatoes and peppers are still a bit small yet, but they should be ready soon. The raspberries are loaded, and so are the currants; I'm going to be even busier once they ripen!

Auctions, auctions

It's time for the May auction blitz, and just in time, because my car needs transmission work and I have no earthly idea how much that's going to cost. :(

A lot of what I'll post this time are things I've been waffling over; whether or not to keep. The link to my ebay page is up above; check it out!

Weeds. And whistles.

I don't see weeds. I see wild.

One of my resolutions this year was to try something new. I had recently decided that something new would be musical in nature.
I have tried to learn various musical instruments over the years with various results. My criteria this time was a bit different than any other time before, though, because I wanted to learn (and play) something simple, inexpensive (although they can be expensive) and especially inexpensive for upkeep.
Replacement ha...

So for such a rainy day, Burlington wasn't a total bust! I actually ended up with an entire empty container, which was nice. We did leave early, and decided to stop at the antique mall and then Goodwill on the way home.
At Burlington, I purchased a few things from Dad and an old wool army blanket. The few things from Dad were three old photos, some teal Anchor Hocking dinnerware (apparently that and the bright green Fire King is what I'll be collecting this year), a cool handmade vessel, and s...

First, there was Easter!
Then Elsa's sixth birthday (and subsequent party!)
And now, it's time for Burlington again, yikes!

It's been a busy April, but the kitchen garden is partially planted (peas, carrots, kale, swiss chard, lettuce, etc.) and I've sown seeds. I'll be working on a raised bed for the sweet potatoes out back here in a bit, and maybe will have time today to get some more work done outside... we'll see.

Unfortunately, it's supposed to rain tomorrow for the first Burlington, so I do...
