I have an announcement to make. My first apple from my Wolf River tree! In fact, my first apple ever from my own trees!! And yes, it's softball size! Maybe even bigger!

I am so happy. I didn't even know it was there; I swear I've checked multiple times and saw no apples. I'm going to say it appeared as if by magic at the right time. :)

Raspberrys Cordgeral

 There's just something about a handwritten recipe that intrigues me; it's partly because someone wanted a particular recipe enough to write it down and because it's almost like decoding an old handwritten document sometimes due to creative spelling.

Today, I went to an auction, mostly for Dad, since he was unable to go. But there were cookbooks at the auction, and I came home with three boxes of them. I also came home with two boxes full of handwritten recipes and recipes the previous ow...

Whoops, no updates all week long!

I had a busy week, and then Friday, we had a yard sale. 90% of what I brought from my house sold, and I only bought three craft books ($1/each) so it was a profitable day, in both clutter elimination and money-wise. We had both Elsa and Chase at the yard sale, though, and it was busy with both of them.

I also had to get two new tires for my car. Since I needed an oil change too, I decided to go ahead and do that, so what might have been a really awkward jugglin...

All That I Need.

a pen and some paper, a story to write;
a quiet place to sleep for the night.
enough food to eat, enough clothes to wear
if I have all of this, I'll have nary a care.

My needs are few, my wants are just that;
a good walking stick and a practical hat.
A place to roam and a place to sit still;
Trees and a meadow; flat land and a hill.

A favorite book and a hot cup of tea;
A call from a friend who's important to me.
The laugh of a child; in merry delight,
A hug and a kiss to keep me warm fo...

At long last (it's been a while!) I was storystruck yesterday afternoon. I've posted it on my LJ (so far, at least.)

By Any Other Name

Part 1
Part 2
Part 3

It does contain vampires, of course. And spindles. :)

I hope you enjoy it.

And after reading everything, I've decided that Scarecrows will stay as canon. It's not nearly as messy and disjointed as I'd feared (it needs a little editing to come together a bit better, but that's not a huge deal.) However, I have no plans to submit it until I finish the next book in the series, just in case I need to change something. It may eventually receive a new title, as the original premise is no longer applicable.

That means the next book is A Glint of Silver. Which means... at l...

Tonight I was waiting for an auction to end, so I decided to start typing the handwritten portion of Scarecrows into the manuscript itself. That entailed some finagling, since I hadn't cut the part I rewrote, but I managed to type a few pages, and then I started reading what I'd written back in March.

This is a very complicated book. I'm curious to see how it reads once I have it all typed in, with the prequel attached. If it works, then it will be a good addition to the series.

We'll see. I'm...
